the doc or sample doesnt seem to help... guess i go trial and error.

 

Float doesnt seem to work, Visibility is on or off only, no fades... so....

I have never used float, or even know what it does. But theoretically you could use the scale modifier on the same argument number as the visibility one to give the illusion

Float allows a texture to fade in and out. Like the cockpit lights in the new F-15C cockpit. There isn't really any documentation on how to use it. If I have time I can put together a quick how-to.

That would help alot, I've tried a few different things and none of them have worked so far.

Anyone having issues with the reflective skins showing the environment on the wrong side? I'm not sure if it's an export issue or not.

uh, that's strange

iv never seen that before, maybe that's a negative value reflection on your model

i guess this is an export isssue, but you should check it in dcsw too, maybe only the modelviewer got this problem (maybe texture problem for modelviewer: there are some sample textures with grass, clouds and trees which used for visualisation of reflection - maybe those are wrongly used in MV)

or you should ask hungarojet to fix your edm file - only a few byte changes in the hexadecimal table of your edm file and everything will be fine :)

For what it's worth, I also don't use plugin versions that are newer than the version of DCSW I'm exporting to. It makes no sense. :)

you sure it's a reflection map bug?

 

I had A similar issue when I saved my Bump Map as Specular Map, or vise Versa, dont remember which,

it would load the reflection of the world upside down and bump mapping would be missing.

Thanks for all of your replies. Everything I test is with Beta 1.2.7 and latest plug-in / mv. I have the same issue in beta game. I suppose it's a texture/model issue, as our old model works just fine. I'll keep messing around. Skatezilla, I remember that thread. I'm glad you brought it up, I've been searching for it like crazy! Thanks guys, I'll report my progress.

 

Edit In: Appears I might have had material/map names conflicting the files. Changed all the maps (Map #xxx) to default names, except the material. Work now.

i have another problem

with recent versions of modelviewers i can't convert cmd models into edm format

conversion runs well and converted edm file size seems ok but the new edm file is invisible, even if i used cmd specular checkbox

should i change something in MV before i start converting old formats ?

and what is z bias for transparents and opaque ?

Looks there are bugs in the newest plugins/modelviewers.

 

Souley you should try older plugin versions. (or you should reinstall your 3dsmax)

 

Vampire, there are another bug: missing Material Attributes (Material_Name) and missing Glossiness Uniforms (specFactor) for textures in the converted file (from CMD to EDM).

Maybe ED used another (non-public) version of modelviewer for converting old formats into EDM format.

try running it with admin privileges. Is max installed into a custom path?

I have the same problem where i cant select anything...

 

 

But also I have 3Ds Max 2013....

 

Anyway Im trying to do work on the Ticonderoga Class Cruiser and the Frigate can someone help me possibly by converting them to a 3D model file that is openable?

For now, EDM exporter only work on 3Ds Max 2010/11/12, expected future 2013 compatibility soon.
