So, reinstalled the nose dome again. now it looks like a jet fighter. Tested my prebuild panels. right front panel was new made and with the side consoles I had lot of luck, 'cause the tornado needs panels with a width of 150mm and I made all my panels this dimension. Puh.....

Next step is to build a steel underconstruction to get rid of the wooden pallets. When this is done, the floor is closed top of the pool so the hole room has same level and the pit sits about 500 mm in the ground.

Made some progress this night.

Yesterday repainted top side of the glareshield and reinstalled it. HUD is reinstalled two. Have lost two fingers of my right hand and half the left arm to fumble the hole sh... in, but who cares  Right front console fits perfectly, what makes me sigh with relief.

On the left side console I installed the Thrustmaster and rearanged positions of the panels. The don't fit in original A-10 order, because the thrust levers in Tornado sit right to left front console.

Now, have to take a coffee break for sure.......

Holy Crap! What a nice thing! Maybe I will come to visit, if you allow, someday when it is done!

Yes I'll build up a floor. So the pool itself wont be visible anymore. Just the pit growing out of the ground. So should be convinient to get in and out without a ladder.

And Manuel, Weingarten is "just around the corner" (about 160km) from Augsburg. So, you're welcome anytime, if you want to make a nice weekend-trip. Cockpit builders always welcome, and a beer is always in the fridge!

using another lilliput 8'' monitor I started to close the front middle console. The two instruments will be ADI and HSI. (Why I tell you, ya all know the A-10....) Using Helios hope it will look good. Have to insert the three rotary encoders vor the ADI and HSI.

Under this matched the Navigation Mode Select Panel and the Target Identification Set Laser panel with a bit of an angle upwards for better visibility. Some covers and it hopefully look fine.

IMG_4670.thumb.JPG.e2ff9311f85d4cc3e07c787fc916be84.JPG

The left console panels are all nearly at the final position and fixed.

Now, standing here with a cup of coffee in my hand smoking a little cigarette, I ask myself if this thing will ever work again. Just seeing a giant amount of cables, panels, monitors, computer, switches and circuits AAARGGGHHHHH

Think have to sit down for some minutes...just doing nothing

I really appreciate that and as soon as I am not fully packed with work load I will come back to that offer!

Good luck!

It is an awesome build mate, Augsberg, are you with Eurofighter?

None of my business but what about if you sort of half built the floor towards the rear of the Cockpit rather than enclose it all, because that photo you took from the front looking down the radome and down the fuselage would be an awesome viewing area, even some 'mood' lighting to show it off after a flight when you are having a few beers!

Would be a shame to hide the Tornado, you could put black curtains around the pool sides to hide the pool tiles.

no I am not with eurofighter. But eurocopter is located here next to augsburg. but not my business.

Good idea with the lights. Will have to think about how to set the fuselage "in scene".

BTW I will have to lift the fuselage up about 400 mm to get the nose up the future floor. So, mainly the hole fuselage will be visible when floor is closed. Thought about using glass at some parts of the floor to make it visible.

Just had to try it out....couldn't resist.... Have to forget about furniture in sight.....and the bad photo quality, in real looks great!

Thought about installing a real working HUD, but the illusion is so good, I'll forget about that.

PC installed tentative in the back of fuselage. Connected the two graphic cards via SLI running for 3x1280x800 at about 80 fps. (the last 1280x800 is the PC screen, will be also a projector in future when I installed the 7 Meter curved screen)

My god it looks great Gremlin. Noticed that the fuselage also have the original rudders installed, although they may need a little WD40. Hope you get them up and running...

What a setup...

Eventually I may have to start the bike to do the 1200 km drive to Augsburg :music_whistling:

Cheers

For the RWR screen I bought this little screen for 20 € at ebay.

IMG_4684.thumb.JPG.550f140d011b6b23ef228254cae1088b.JPG

This device is originally a screen for a car backview camera. I screwed it down and now I have a nice little screen for RWR with 3,5'' for a good price.

Now comes the hard part: It has only a composite input, so you'll need an converter from VGA to TV signal, and that is quite expensive.

Having a screen attached to PC which I use to output all the possible instruments like MFD, HUD etc, I'll try to get a little spy - cam (about 8€) to "film" the RWR from the monitor and send it via chinch cable to the TFT. Hope quality loss will not be so extreme.

If this works, I'll do the same for 2nd ADI, clock etc. without wasting an additional VGA output.

Okay, bought a "wireless spy-cam" from the store for 28€.

Here is the result: (In reality you can't see the pixels like in the pic)

IMG_4685.thumb.JPG.2d95e58ee3c410124257ff9bdc276abe.JPG

The camera looks like this:

IMG_4686.thumb.JPG.e1938838c8b734e1b4c8a577915a521e.JPG

The result is let me say okay for rwr. But if you try it out with e.g. Backup ADI the quality is too poor for a good reading.

For my RWR I'll use it as "cheap solution for future improvement"

today I started to connect the USB devices like monitors stick throttle and mfd.

IMG_4687.thumb.JPG.bca7e51d8e09cdd8e921a0b542a706f4.JPG

For getting things to work while constructing the floor, decided to just install a rear projection plate that can be easily removed while woodwork.

With the Lilliput USB monitors I have some problems. Perhaps someone can help.

I have three lilliput USB monitors. when I connect two, everything works fine. But when I connect the third, displaylink software runs crazy not recognizing any monitor at all and flickering main monitor on and off every few seconds.(You see the displaylink software start and end a recognition try every flicker) It's not a monitor problem, because it doesn't matter if I connect the two MFD monitors or one MFD and the ADI monitor. With two it always works. Only the third makes problems.

Downloaded latest displaylink drivers with no effect.

Any ideas?
