Just thought it would be fun to list the sims we have played over the years. Doesn't have to be flight, but needs to be old :)

Here are some of my faves, in no particular order:

AV8B Harrier (Super VGA version)

Apache Longbow

There are more if I can find them :)

I second the Tornado.. I can still play that game in DosBox (though, only the IDS variant with the autopilot so I don't have to bother with a joystick).

But, my favourite flight sim of all time must be the F-14 Fleet Defender.

TFX was very arcade-ish, but had a nice atmosphere, graphics and music.

Sublogic's Jet was one of the first more "serious" combat flight sims I've played (Atari ST - only had 512 kBs of RAM so the F-16 Combat Pilot wouldn't run on it :( )..

i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg.

DISCLAIMER: My posts are still absolutely useless. Just finding excuses not to learn the F-14 (HB's Swansong?).

It's time to do the helos some justice.. I never got to run the LHX on my 386 (some weird resolution), but Gunship 2000 ran just fine (and a fine game it was)..

BTW, there was a Ka-50 sim in the mid-90s. It ran my 386 over its limits. I think it was similar to some other Domark sims (e.g. Harrier Assault) where you had an assault ship and was attacking bases on an island. I remember you had some othe rhelos at your disposal, maybe Lynx and Super Cobra - firing Tow missiles was fun..

Doesn't seem to have a wiki page, but here are some screenshots (the first few images).

Newbies, all of you!

First flightsims were on the ZX81 and ZX Spectrum. Back in oh 82 or so. I had the Psion simulator, some kind of monochrome F15 with which you could even dogfight and a helicopter (Apache ?) simulator. That one even fired hellfire missiles at tanks.

There will always be bugs. If everything is a priority nothing is.
