All the pics I see of real A-10 cockpits, you can see dust, rust, scraped paint etc. I'm wondering if this could be implemented into DCS: A-10C (perhaps someone could make a mod)? I think it would give it a more realistic and used look. What do you think?

Take a good look at Your pit and all the objects in it. I think they did a good job of not supplying a "new" pit, though I too have seen mostly heavier "worn" pits.

I think the cockpit level of wear and tear is fine. The thing that bugs me is that the cockpit doesn't have any damage modeling. You could have both wings blown off and both engines on fire but the cockpit is still in perfect visual condition.

I'd think that if something managed to damage the pit, the pilot would have bigger issues.

The cockpit is incased in a titanium "bathtub" to protect the pilot.

Now broken windshield, that would be cool

If someone wanted to be real slick... they could model cockpits that were different depending on if it was an Active Duty or Guard aircraft.

Active duty birds are "Well maintained"... but the maintainers are barely given enough time to to whats required let alone all the little things they would like because of the "do more with less" attitude.

Guard Birds usually look like they just rolled off the assembly line... (Yes there are exceptions to every rule) A few years back I took a student out to look at a KC-135R from a Guard Unit. The Crew Chief had been assigned to the airplane for 24 years straight. My student couldn't believe a 40 year old airplane looked better than out 22 year old KC-10. (Course the -135 hadn't spent as much time in the desert as the 10 had.)

Figured I'd share...from various A-10s...like Sierra said...high ops tempo, limited time to do anything except launch, recover, inspect, and repair then start the process over again...

I think that CDU is fairly worn :music_whistling:

Yeah I reckon the DCS one is worn enough (I take care of it - paid good money for it I did! :megalol:)

(Edit: Still think you're lucky to get to work on these planes - good stuff!)

What is the yellow paddle used for on the stick? Below the picky button? I didn't know what it should be mapped as so I have it set for NVG.

AFAIK it is a SAS emergency-off.

You are welcome to my DCS A-10 server "Ugly Bastards".

WOW... Did somebody leave the canopy open during a dust storm and then hose everything off with ditch water? If I were buying this plane I'd check with insurance companies and make sure it wasn't totaled after a flood! (L@@K For Sale, Like New... New Interior Carpet!) :megalol: (And I think there is a Strawberry Jelly Stain on the O2 Regulator)

Great Pics paulrkiii... Its amazing they can look sooooo good on the outside and soooo natty on the inside.

Thanks for the photos.

Seems that the A10c has a newer communication panel.

It does...we're at a much higher avionics suite than that is modeled in DCS A-10C

:P

I'm not asking but hoping:P After a little search I found out that it was discussed earlier in this forum.

That is the control panel for the new AN/ARC-210 secure voice radio stack. I asked Wags about it and was told this would not be implemented- at least not in the first release. With a cost in the billion range, they are in short supply and are not in every A-10 anyway.

But for now there are more important things to do for ED.

Oops, too late, we've been pestering for ages. Although I very much doubt we'll see an update any time soon, if ever. Sadly I think we're stuck with suite 3.
