So, am I looking at 90 minute FTP downloads for each of the .bin files with the update?

Can I load over what I have of 1.1.2.0?

Probably best to do a fresh installation into a new folder.

In order to add subsequent later patches, this patch 1.1.2.1 has to be loaded, correct?

I tried the Torrent install of 1.1.2.0, it would not load one of the .exe files. I tried 3 times. The Http USA installer did not function. So I used the FTP1 USA source.

Uninstall 1.1.2.0 -> install 1.1.2.1

I've a feeling that all releases will be full release rather than patches - as these are Beta release candidates - so no previous version will be required.

Another 12 hour download . Only just finished the download of the previous versions . Surely you're 'funning' with me? :(

Yeah, you tell 'em.

My feelings, too.

For me I'm looking at about 6 hours. I will wait until the wee hours of a NY morning while most you'alls are sleeping.

Sorry. It is all my fault.

I moved house, disconnected broadband etc etc etc. On the day when I dropped offline, DCS: P-51D was released.

Yesterday, I got back online. Downloaded through a temporary GSM link. About two hours after I downloaded, whammo! New version.

I'll be offline again for a couple of weeks during the next month. Great things will happen in the flight sim community for sure! :D

All of a sudden I went from an estimated 5 hours and something to about 22 hours!! Never got the first version to run (reference Devil Got me post) so hoping this might do the trick. If not, I'll be flying the A-10 again and wait for the completed version. That is if I don't have to shut down because of possible sever thunderstorms..

At some point this just sounds like poor or no planning.

It might seem so to someone not working in the computer game business, consider however that the market situation is very dynamic. You as customer only get to see the tip of the iceberg of what is really going on behind the scenes, as such, it is a little bit hasty or even disrespectful to make such a statement without having proper knowledge of the facts to base it on.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

What is the default path/file location for the install of DCS World/P-51, please? For once the installer did not give me the default location; the window was empty so I will need to browse my way to the right place. I do not want to install the updated version anywhere but in the default location. Can someone give me the path? Thanks.

Ooooooor you could interpret it as a developer willing and able to respond to customer demands and requests.

Previous bad experiences with developers and, more frequently, publishers who would not change a thing, ever, unless they absolutely had to and often not even then, leads me to consider the quote a Good Thing.

Will doing this, then save all my Options/CONTROLS settings?

I have my CH Profile .map mappings for the P-51; I will not lose that on a new DCS: P-51D version upgrade. But I really do not wish to have to reset everything within the CONTROLS mappings.

Endemic to entertainment software development, there are often situations that occur that are outside the control of the developer that can affect features and time lines. So, we have two options: Say nothing of plans and intent until a product is ready for release (ie Black Shark 2), or try our best to give advance notice of what is in the pipeline, but make it clear to our customer base that stated plans can change. No matter what we do, it appears someone will be unhappy.

Of course.

You are basically not that far off from developing a product like in industrial manufacturing. Things always change and crap happens, all the time. What really sucks is to take on a job at a pre-set fee and a given deadline and things happen where no way is the time frame going to happen no matter what you do. I always told my bosses, you want a good job or a fast job? Of course they want both. Developing a prototype product is very time consuming.

I have been with DCS about a year. I kind of see what projects you are working both presently and in the future. With the limited staff you guys have and the many projects you are attempting, I say you guys do pretty good.

Always, somebody will not be happy.
