EDIT: Thank you for moving it to appropriate channel, mod. I shoulda known better. :D

Hope it's all right with the mod to post this here. Anyway, I plan to somehow incorporate German vehicles from WWII era into DCS World, and decided to work on the V1 since it's the easiest. Keep in mind I'm very new to 3d modeling, and any advice would be greatly appreciated. If anything, it's more stuff to blow up? :D I'm curious how to add this into the game and make it fly? :music_whistling: Or is that something ED does for us?

EDIT: 5-27-12 I'm feeling adventurous. Started on a Tiger I.

Ahhhh..... Peenemunde.... BF1942.... You could instead create a Messershit, a Zeke, or Yak-7B. But in the context of Georgia the latter choice is the most prudent.

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

I love you... :D

Guys...

I'm more interested in creating land vehicles both allies and axis because, honestly, I hope ED will give us more planes of that era. Like I said, I'm a beginner and the flying bomb is easiest and it'll be a test-bed for me to learn some UVwrap and painting etc.

Thanks, guys and stay tuned, folks.

BTW...

If anyone has good sources where they have top, front, back and side drawings for these kinds of material please share. I found a few but the more the merrier. Also, I'm desperately looking for some drawings or photos of the V1 launch pad. Thanks.!!

i don't mind a few WW2 stuff like the Mustang,FW,ME,P-47,LA,YAK or a Zero but i hope it doesn't go too overboard..WW2 is over played as it is..Needs more Korea,Nam type stuff.

keep up the good work leafer :)

It should be just the opposite. Why wouldn't one want to me more historically correct rather than flying the P-51 alongside a F-16 or being taken out by a sam missle. Bring on the WW #2 associated planes, trucks and etc. Leave the modern stuff with the A-10 and where it belongs

I've been doing some legwork and found EDM plugin and edModelViewer and will check it out soon.

Thanks for the link, SiTh... I was just at the EDM plugin thread and you replied to me there as well. Thank you very much.

I'll definitely read it but I have a feeling I'm going to end up feeling like I gave myself too much credit for wanting to do this. Oui...

Not the best looking 3d model... If any one knows how to get rid of the wriggle in the skin I'd greatly appreciate your advice. Tomorrow I'll start, learn, how to UVWrap this thing and texturing. edgepilot was nice enough to create a really nice and easy to understand tutorial on importing object to LOMAC, unfortunately, this isn't LO but it did give me a basic understanding. Thanks, brother.

Looking good, as far as the smoothing and such, google should help you find tips on doing so. And when trying to get the model into the game use the wiki link I posted and ask questions here, there are a number of guys willing to help, or at least I have found so far.

Looking good.

What wiggles??

dam. Can't spell either. I meant wrinkle as these V1s don't have anything to wiggle with. :D

I wouldn't ask if I hadn't googled first. :) I know about smoothing groups, but it didn't straighten the skin out. I tried rearranging the vertices but then it made it worst. The problem is at the area below the two round things at the front. But yes, it did occur to me that these things probably have dents and such, it's just the purist in me wants to iron it out.

A little wrinkle may not be so bad, will make it look like metal skin, like it's been handled. :) Great job so far!!

I fixed it. The hard way apparently. I removed the wrinkled area, took the polygons from the opposite side and weld them to the hole. The wrinkle is still there, barely, but now it looks more like a dent on aluminum skin than the monstrosity that it was.

Thanks for the comments, guys.

This doodle bug looks awesome and would be an excellent addition to the P51's environment - we could try wing tipping!

Just dont give it EA AI:)

I'm gonna make some time to look at whats involved in contributing to WWII objects and if it's not beyond me I'll have a go. (this will be slow burn - all I've done ever was modify skins in IL2!)

That used to be one of my favorite intercept missions in good 'ol IL-2, trying to tip over that doodle bug. Endless hours of fun. :D
