No, reason being that the capability no longer exists on the present A-10C's, TISL being replaced by the TGP.

Does it really no longer exist or is the TGP simply prefered when available? I seems to be a waste of weight and drag to keep the Pave Penny pod attached to the plane if they no longer use it.

Last I heard (from paulrkii aka snoopy aka a dude who would know) the pods are actually being removed for just that reason... Slowly of course :D

Yep Pave Penny pods are no longer carried, and some units have even started removing the pylon itself.

It's is still time and money to remove it. I think I remember Paul saying that they look 'funny' without it after so many years with it.

So......

Will it be removed in game??

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Since its function is not modeled in the cockpit, I've always advocated removing the TISL pod from the 3d model. Maybe when it finally goes, the pylon will go with it now.

I want the pave penny removed but the pylon to stay. We don't fly with the pave penny but for now we still have the pylon. I think some units (ANG) were going to start removing them but I haven't seen or heard of it starting.

I bet they do/will look funny without it. Having that strapped to the right side of the nose for so long, then not, would be like giving an F-16 a T-tail. It's just gonna look weird.

Right on. Besides, who really cares about some minor cosmetic feature like this when there are real, serious bugs to be dealt with? The idea of spending time altering the physical model for something like this while critical aircraft systems are non-functional (as of 1.1.2.1) would be laughable if it weren't so depressing. Plus, if we really want to get pedantic, since we technically have aircraft from a couple years ago before the pods started coming off (as far as I know anyway), it would be correct to keep them on.

i agree in the fullest. Time and resources should be spent on much more pressing features. Besides, i don't think that without the pod, the ac would look so different

Seems like a good place to mount a up to date targeting system's sensors. Minimize the 'M'. Until the gun is fired, then the fog of war would set in.

btw, what about the A-10A in FC3? with FACs and everything the pod could be of use in that case

Is there any plans to implement new features in A-10C or development in this aircraft is frozen? I still miss a bunch of things, like INS implementation or some AN/ARC-164 modes.

The EGI (Embedded GPS Reciever/INU) replaced the INS.

Well EGI still feeds from INS to work out position data. Normally INS data is blended with GPS data to get the best accuracy, but you can (currently in DCS:A-10C) force EGI to feed only from INS, either disconnecting GPS manually (via SYSTEM/GPS -> INIT, which reset GPS and then you will rely briefly only on INS) or selecting INS as only source (via NAV page -> Commanded Navigation Mode Rotary, and selecting INS only). In both cases I've been unable to see any drift in position after a long flight, therefore making INS update page (NAV / UPDATE) basically useless and also leaving the different ALIGN methods as a switchology exercise with no effect on drift or accuracy.

I have also the feeling that GPS model has been simplified from the ABRIS model in BS, which was quite complex and detailed.

I have to admit that the impact of all this in the gameplay is extremly low, as currently EGI provides a really good position estimation under normal conditions, but still would be nice to flight missions w/o GPS support in which you have to perform INS updates here and there. Furthermore it wouldn't be the first time seen in a simulator - PMDG aircrafts implement Blending algorithm in FMCs since the old MD-11!

Agreed! With a much more accuratly simualted GPS inaccuracy the actually realism has no reason not to be achieved since PMDG has been taking this high a bar as a standard since long time ago!!! :(
