Are you ready for 3d World War ?
There will be no World War 3, certainly not over Syria. BTW, there is no money neither in USA nor in Europe for a large scale military operation.

Right now, we have a game of chicken, that may last for few moths or few years.

Economy of Syria will have much larger impact on situation than any military action I can think of.

I failed to notice what happened to the pilots of the downed Phantom?

What actually happened here is noting new...It's very common to task obsolete aircraft of low value with probing of "enemy" air defence. Now that you mentioned that there was a Russian Udaloy II destroyer near by I'm starting to think that she was the focus of this recon flight. I can hardly believe that Udaloy was sitting in Syrian waters so I might conclude that downed aircraft was not neccessarily inside Syrian airspace but inside Udaloy's safe perimeter or pehaps repeatedly buzzing her tower at 200ft MSL which finally triggered the attack. Observing destroyers usually stick to international waters.

Looks like they were asking for it...

Bullseye, this is what war analysts say about the destroyer. About The pilots, Turks say they only found the cascs.

- Saudi Arabia mobilizes hundrents of tanks & A/A units to the Jordan & Iraq frontiers. Also reallocates F15s & Tornado GR4 to the northen bases near Syria.

Tbh, it's only logical for Saudi to mobilize their troops, they want to have their borders secure if something does happen there.

I cannot see this sparking a ww3, or anything bigger then a localized conflict, seriously, who would fight? You think that the citizens of the western countries would hapilly let conscricpt themselfs? I sure as hell would not go, would you? And as western goverments are unable to handle even regular mobs riots, I fail to believe they would be able to force people into a war they don't want to be a part of. And againts who would we fight? Syria? Or Russia? Please, I think people there would be 'overjoyed' if a conflict with the west sparked. The strong words are just part of the politics. Both east and west ones.

This isn't the big patriotic beginning of the 20th centuries, when everybody marched into WW1 singing happily. Nor are there power hungry tyrants threating the soverignity of west-world contries, as it was in WW2.

And pressing the button? The situation in the world was a helluva lot more tense during the cold war (spyplanes shot in the hearth of russia and stuff like that ;) ) and noone dared to press the button.

What did they say? Can you provide us with some links?

I'm sorry for the pilots, I hope they're OK!

Now you see what a 40 year old plane is capable of...However I'm sorry to hear that an old piece of NATO hardware is more valuable than loss of hundreds or perhaps thousands of lives that happened during last 16 months od Syrian uprising.

It is because Turks most popular sport is to penetrate Neirboring countries airspace without NOTAM.

It is Greek A/A personnel intercepting a Turkish F4 that has already violated Athens FIR. Actually it is humoristic because the chief is counting how many times virtually kill it ... He stops counting at 6 times and crew is LOL.

I can't believe that amidst all that's going on in Syria Russians are to deliver new attack helicopters to Syrian army...

They are not new. They are old Syrian heli's that were repaired in Russia.

By pressing the button I didn't mean any nuclear one. You are right about cold war, but not for hot war situations if this situation became alike.

e.g. You may know every Officer's headache is exactly this. If one hot tempered soldier fires then everyone fires and this is not reversible situation. What makes you believe that this is not possible to happen. It is already happens with the Turkish F4 splash.

I cannot see this sparking a ww3, or anything bigger then a localized conflict.

Well that depends also by Russians. If they decide to hit the street and start moving Southern, especially if too many NATO forces concentrated in the Syria area.

Anyway many parallel scenario exist and make sense. Welcome to the battle chess !

We all know it'll not be a conventional war if it begins...

When the Berlin wall went down, the only plans found in the Warsaw Pact military bases were those of a nuclear strike...

Armoured radioactive warfare vehicles ready and filled with fuel, medals and decorations manufactured and ready...

First step in plans was nuclear attack on all European NATO bases, then armor straight through it to Spain and France... then deal with UK...

So money and conscripts don't really matter... it's gonna be end of days my friends...

I'm afraid that would be Greek to you :D

But it is based on reliable magazine /news site specialized on defence matters.

http://www.defencenet.gr

In the mean time

- Kurdish forces are joining up Syria

- Turkish political cyrcles blame Rusian escort destroyer "Admiral Çapanenko" of class Udaloy II to be the one intercepted F4 and not Syrian Air defences !

- (R71) Charles de Gaulle carrier will join up with USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) carrier (approx 2 weeks from now) to enforce a no-fly-zone above Syria. Both carriers have 100 aircrafts aprox.

I can predict an intensive Russian reaction.

Ok, evryone is trying to open Pandora's Box. Are you ready for 3d World War ?

The French Carrier is on the way there? oh wow I picture youtube filling with with Go Pro Cam footage of everything.if true

I don't see how this would be possible. Would they go against a Russian veto? And then go fight Syria with backing from Russia and Iran? It would be a mess. Even if Syria was alone, it would still not be like Libya.

It won't be World War 3. Surely humanity is better then this. Surely we will not start a world war over a single F-4 getting shot down.

WWI was started by killing one man. Here two men are already killed. So embrace yourself, Bulava is coming

The "one man" whose death became the first (of many) intricate steps towards world war was not just any man, though. Now, if Abdullah Gül had been one of the casualties, then perhaps the parallell could be drawn.

I am so glad that there isn't just one world power on this plannet so they can't just do whatever they want and attack whatever country they please... as much as cold war was bad it was much more good as every side had to watch what they do and respect the other side. The moment one side thinks it's much stronger then other(s) it becomes arrogant and starts doing whatever it wants... I hope there is now stop to this and we get another cold war to cool things down and put everyone in its place
