Ercoupe Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Believe it or no, I haven't bought the Mustang , yet, and the biggest reason is that the pilot is wearing a modern helmet. Okay, silly? Yes! but it bugs me. Is there any chance, that in the near future he may get a cloth or leather helmet?

If you are so hung up on a WWII helmet you can buy one on ebay. My understanding is that DCS P-51D gives you access to a WWII fighter. Even if there was a mod for the pilot's head, it won't change the scenery or other aircraft/vehicles by 70 years - which seems like a bigger immersion-killer to me.

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

There's enough stuff in that cockpit to keep you busy without thinking about what's on your head. I had second thoughts about buying the Pony but now after flying it I"m amazed and it's going to get better with future patches/updates. Forget, the helmet and fly the plane! I know I'll wind up getting this the first time I see that someone has come out with something to shoot down. I saw a shot with a P-51 flying in formation with an FW-190. So, I think we're close.
