Swaty Posted July 14, 2012 Posted July 14, 2012 Hello all Here is my first attempt! Not enough space (room is smaller than the actual width) and too many mistakes during the built  A redo must be done before the addition of switches and other stuff Of course I would like to thank people who contribute to this forum. I use 2 video cards at the moment and I will add one more for the right MFD. (1 X GTX 260 and 2 X 6200). The CPU is i5 @ 3,2 and 12 GB of RAM, so far runs smooth. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My Pit

metalnwood Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Hah, no fail at all. We are talking about your first pit which I dare say is not much different from a lot of first pits and I can tell you when I got in to sims and wanted to add just a little bit more to it my pit looked very similar. I now have more space, more money and more equipment to make better cockpits but we both started with the same ideas, if I had photos of my first attempts to make something functional you would be feeling better I am sure :) That keyboard is crying to be cleaned though ;)
TomDK Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Yes, its a nice beginning but much much work to go. I know the situation, I am also on my first pit with first panel, working caution panel, TFS3 and so on. keep on the work. My old, sold, pit: http://bilder.einzelart.de/thumbnails.php?album=74&page=3

No fail at all man. I wish I had the space to dedicate just for a flight sim setup. LtFransky Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Dude, you have working gauges on a 2nd monitor. That's nothing to scoff at. I'm still squinting at my main screen to read the instruments. Nice start. Ours is not to reason why, but rather to do and die. A man walks into a zoo. The only animal in the entire zoo is a dog. It's a shitzu
Swaty Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 Thank you all! I will go for a redo but more carefully this time! The keyborad really need to be cleaned!:music_whistling: The WWII is the old IL-2 Fortotten Battles. It's not possible to extract anything from it, at least for on line use. One more reason about the mess is that I thought that it could be possible to use it not only for A-10. My idea is the center of the front panel( in front of 15'' screen) to be removable using some kind of clips. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My Pit
PeterP Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) Nice done Swaty! ... Thank you all! I will go for a redo but more carefully this time! Than please have a look through this thread - it will give you maybe a lot of inspiration how to get it working when you add two additional side-screens: Seeking best connection method for optimal multi-monitor-performance I think that your pit is really made for something like this (your pit asks for this kind of set-up ;)): And you can also use this files to get some more FPS by disabling the in-cockpit MFCDs in 1.2.0: .... in the meantime use the attachment. With... And also have a look how to set a new Cockpit view here: Tweaked Cockpit view for DCS A-10C So you don't have the now useless in-cockpit MFCDs at your monitor. Swaty Posted July 23, 2012 Author Posted July 23, 2012 Thank you BIGNEWY! PeterP thank you again you really help a lot so far because I think you are a guru here. Missed these posts you refer now, but I have already bookmark a lot! I will re-built the front panel and I must see what I can do with the flanks because it doesn't look good without. Mr_Burns Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Hey great start mate, keep going! I made a pit and then couldnt finish it for space and stuff, my only advice would be this: Make sure you get your gauges and MFDs are closer to the screen (see where peterPs gauges are in relation to his flank screens. Mine started like yours sat on top of the gauges (i never had 3 view screens) but then i dropped the monitor a few inches so was a smaller gap between the MFDs and Gauges and your main screen. I found that if you have to move your eyes and head too much to look down you either dont look down or get a pain! Try to get the bottom of your main screen as close to the top of the gauges and MFDs so you may need to move the keyboard. Of course that is only my humble opinion, you are the man with the pit and it will suit you!
Swaty Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 I will go this way Mr Burns. Tested for a couple of hours and I got the feeling you describe!! Main monitor is too high and too close. I will drop the wall mounted base. It's to high and is not so flexible! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My Pit
