You should really only have to delete the input file for Warthog. In the same saved game folder, DCS- Config-Input-A-10C - joystick - under that folder, delete joystick hotas warthog, throttle hotas warthog, and the pedals.

As long as your Warthog is installed and recognized properly in windows, A-10C- should recognize and assign all the funtions appropriately to your stick adn throttle.

Take a look at all the assignments under your rudder column though, I have the Saitek Combat pedals, and for some reason it assigned a few functions to them that made no sense, I made sure I cleared those out for the pedals, leaving only the rudder and toe brake axis' assigned. Oh, and I also had to " invert axis" for each toe brake.

Btw, target is not a bad program, I have used it for some of my other flight sims, but no reason to use it for A-10C as the sim does recognize it and assign appropriately.

Thank you d.burnette for yoru input. I have now uninstalled DCS A-10 and tried reinstalling it and now I cant because all that happens is the ATI catylst prompt comes up and after I install that nothing else happens. The universe does not want me to play DCS A-10 warthog! I tried downoading version 1.2.0 which for some reason is only 700 and something mb what is that? I am so confused!

Posted

The 1.2 version is the A-10c module for DCS:World. It is only 700MBs because most of the game is installed with the DCS:World installer. To install the module you must first install DCS:World found here:

http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?ProductId=21&end_pos=137&scr=product&lang=en

This is probably the best thing to do at this point as DCS:World is the future for DCS and any updates to the game will be made to World and not the standalone versions. More info on DCS:World can be found here:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=90964

Good luck! I know it can be frustrating at times getting everything setup but it is definitely worth it in the end!

Did you download and install DCS World first?

You must have that, to install the A-10C module for it. That is the reason the module is smaller in size, much of the required content is already in DCS World.

Jordan. Try holding both pedals down when taking and taking off. You will find that pressing the pedals down will release the brakes and letting go will put them back on.

Here's where you change it.

Go to controls and click on axis assign on the bottom as shown here:

Next Click on the control whos axis you want to change: I have both left and right pedals selected for wheel brake so I do joyx first then joy.

Then click on axis tune on the bottom:

That brings up this screen. Here you can add a curve to reduce the sensitivity of the control. You can also click on the little box called invert..

Some controls default the opposite. which is why when you push the brake it releases. By inverting you are actually making it work normally.

Good Luck

Oh and the brakes aren't assigned to the rudders but the pedals. The rudder is forward and backward movement. The pedals have a movement like a gas pedal.

Thank you all very much again for your help. I have reinstalled the game and that has fixed all my issues so far. I am having one more problem but it is user error related I believe. When I take off and turn all the systems on sometimes even with the gun in P.A.C mode when I press the first stage of the trigger the P.A.C indication does not appear on the hud and when I fire it is evident that the pac is not doing its job. Any advice? Thanks agian!

I may be wrong, but I think eac needs to be engaged for pac to work. Checked that?

Can somebody tell me how to upload a track please? Anyways its hit or miss after playing a little Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. When it doesnt work it the warning system voice says " warning auto pilot " even though auto pilot is not on and never was.

To post a track, do the following:

Run the mission and when you have replicated the issue just hit 'Esc' and you will be taken to the debrief screen. On the debrief screen there is a tab that allows you to save the track named 'Save Track'. Click on 'Save Track' and follow the prompts to save the track which will be saved in your Saved Games/DCS/Tracks folder.

Once the track is saved, navigate to the Main screen and hit the 'Replay' tab. Select your track to view and just confirm that the track has saved and is indeed playing back correctly and illustrating the problem as you experienced it in-mission.

If you are satisfied, exit SIM and post a reply to this thread. When doing so, you will notice a paperclip icon for attachments in the top toolbar. Click on the paperclip and a new window (manage attachments) will pop up. Hit the 'Choose file' tab on the left and navigate to the location of your track file and hit open. Thereafter hit the 'Upload' tab and the track will upload.

Once done, click on the paperclip icon again and the forums will automatically insert the track link for you in your text.

Hit the 'Submit Reply' tab and you're good to go.

That's not accompanied by a "CCIP INVALID" message on the HUD is it?

No it is not. Strange thing is it seems to be working now however it is still off and on. Random question. Can mavericks be used with the litening pod? Seems weird that the litenings capability be limited to just guided bombs and not missiles.

On the warning autopilot vmu: my second guess would be that the PAC (which is basically autopilot afaik) is exceeding its control authority. But someone who knows better will hopefully chime in.

As to your last question: yes Mavs can be used in conjunction with the TGP in the sense that you can hand off a Mav to TGP coordinates. There are no laser guided Mavs for the a10 in dcs (I dont think they're carried real world either). To hand off a target from the TGP, make TGP SOI, aim at intended target, set SPI with TGP (TMS up long with TGP as SOI), pull up MAV display, China Hat fwrd long to slave sensors to SPI. MAV seeker will now be looking at whatever the pod was looking at, all you'll have to do after that is TMS up to lock the MAV

Thanks Smokey great info on using tgp for mavs. If I could only fix this ridiculous pac error. Its about a 50/50 chance at this point that p.a.c will function. Sometimes it wont work early on in the mission and then when I get to the target area it will work but only sometimes. This is a great sim and I love it but every time I conquer one problem another one pops up instantly to fill the others shoes!

You should post a track.

Fly a short mission and recreate the issue, when you exit the mission there is an option to save track in the debriefing window. Save it, then post it in this thread (use the attachment icon that looks like a paper clip) that will save some time :)

Thanks again Smokey. Lately it has consistently been working thankfully. If it starts acting up again I will post a track for you to look at. Thanks for all of your help everybody. On another note I was wondering if anybody has any good strategies for taking out manpads. In lock on with the A-10A it was easy enough with the bigger rocket pods but for some reason in DCS it is limited to the 7 round launchers ( anybody know why? ) I tried tracking with the tgp and switching to mavs but the seeker was unable to aquire a lock even when it was slave to the same spi as the tgp. So short of launching a mav I have not been able to find a relatively "safe" method for engaging manpads. Any tips would be great. What do you guys usually do?

Posted

The ability to lock highly depends on the contrast of the target against the background. A MANPAD is a very small target, so it can be harder to get a valid lock.

I usually take them out from higher altitude with CBUs
