A Classic Nate, although already owning a copy, just bought it on the kindle so I can read it anywhere.

Has to be the best book on flying Hueys that there is.

Although I'm sure many many more will turn up, I know I have several at home. Can't wait to see what others come up with.

In time for UH-1, get your copy of Dustoff, the Memoir of an Army Aviator by medal of honor recipient Mike Novosel:

http://www.amazon.com/Dustoff-The-Memoir-Army-Aviator/dp/0891418024/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1350061487&sr=8-3&keywords=dustoff+in+books

It's a very good read. Novosel chronicles his service career, starting with being a B-29 pilot in WWII to, after retiring from the USAF, joining the Army and becoming a UH-1 pilot during Vietnam. In Vietnam, he won the Congressional Medal of Honor, and, if memory serves me correctly, he ended up being a UH-1 pilot in the same unit as his son.

Anyway, it's got a 4.5 star rating on Amazon, pretty much the highest rating anything ever gets, so it's not just me that thinks this is an excellent read.

Yeah, I can imagine. I just paid as much in shipping as I did for the book to get a copy of Fire Strike 7/9. Had to order from a bookseller in the UK. :P

:) guess it works both ways then. But Firestrike 7/9 is worth it. stunning book. I know last time I visited got hit with $150 excess weight fare flying home. Think it was the wife's new dress that pushed us over, rather than my case of Vietnam books though. ;)

I am currently reading a book titled Plutocrats, by Chrystia Freeland. Pretty fascinating book so far. It is about the rise in global wealth disparity, but it is not as stuffy as it would appear.

Title: Warthog

Author: William L. Smallwood

30 Customer Reviews with 4 and 1/2 stars.

Thud Ridge is next. I am retired and enjoy reading these books from those who were there.

Anyone have others that they would suggest are good reads I would appreciate it.

The Making of The Atomic Bomb by Richard Rhodes

Awesome book. From the beginning of nuclear physics with Rutherford (atomic nucleus), Chadwick (neutron), Fermi...to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A very thorough history (800 pages).

The next one on my bookshelves is Stages to Saturn : A Technical History of the Saturn/Apollo launch vehicles

Some of the books I have read this month:

Burning Chrome by William Gibson - a set of cyberpunk short stories. For all you air combat game nuts, I highly recommend Dogfight.

Isaac Asimov - The Gods Themselves and End of Eternity. This is generally the thinking man's sci-fi fix, both very enjoyable reads.

If you like some good crime novels, I'd like to recommend something from my own back yard - Death in Breslau by Marek Krajewski and the sequels - some great noir-like crime stories set in pre-WWII Wroclaw.

Has anyone else got Sea Harrier over the Falklands? I picked it up and though it's a good book I do disagree with some of what he says. Especially regarding how useless the Tornado is compared to the Harrier. (The harrier having been described as "Completely incompetent and utterly, utterly useless in protecting ground troops in Afghanistan") and considering the Harrier's short range and limited payload, as well as incapable of performing SEAD strikes. In addition claiming the FA2 is superior to the typhoon purely based on cost is incorrect I think. The typhoon being multirole (the only attacks the FA2 performing in were unsatisfactory), and having a better radar, longer range and better selection of munitions and improved avionics. I'm wondering about people's thoughts.

Currently reading "Viper Pilot" by Dan Hampton and I can tell that 300 pages is too short. I'm at about 130 pages now and hate to put it down. I'm sure he has many more stories that he could have put in there. Great book so far I highly recommend it!

I highly recommend the Flying Black Ponies by Kit Lavell to anyone with an interest in the Vietnam conflict and Naval Aviation. It's a great read... all I need now is a DCS:OV-10 Bronco:pilotfly:
