HiJack Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Thank you Mustang! Great reminder these posts from you :D
Cedaway Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Thanks Mustang. Catalyst offered me to download and install 12.8 driver by itself. Seems there is an auto-updater included, at least since 12.6... DCS Wish: Turbulences affecting surrounding aircraft... AceKng1 Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 Any news on if this fixes the flashing white boxes with a 69xx and HDR turned on? I'll test it when I get home from work if no one else has by then.
HiJack Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I have had a house cleaning day on my computer and have cleared out all old drivers and some old applications. After removing all the display drivers I tried to install using the 12.8 build directly and it did not work, looks like the driver itself was OK but the Control Center would not start. I cleaned the display drivers out once more and wendt back to 12.6 and all worked just fine. It may be some hickup on my system but if someone have trouble with 12.8 then try go to 12.6 first and then upgrade. (HJ)
AussieM8 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Hi AceKng1, Don't bother trying Cat 12.8, same old Flashing white boxes. AMD support, what a joke. see my previous post on this. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=89386 Windows 7 x64, i5-2500k @ 4.4 with Noctua NH-D14 CPU Cooler ,ASRock Z68 Fatal1ty Pro Gen 3 G.Skill Ripjaws 16gig DDR3,, HD6950 2gb, HOTAS Warthog,Saitek Combat Pedals and TrackIr 5 Using Deadman's Covers and Metalnwood's extension. cheers 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
AceKng1 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Thanks, meant to try this the other day but have been too busy and unable to fly. Was actually going to try tonight so thank you for saving me the hassle. Guess 11.6 is going to be it for awhile. :(
Mud Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I was using 11.6 for a long time because of this. Strangely though, I updated to 12.3 when I played Diablo, and I just checked in DCS and I don't have flashing white boxes with that 12.3 version. AussieM8 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Hi Bonso, I have tried every Cat release since 11.6 and all versions after Cat 11.6 have flashing white boxes with 69xx cards including Cat 12.3. Oh and just to make sure I wasn't loosing my mind, I checked Cat 12.3 again and I have flashing white boxes, so straight back to Cat 11.6. Mud Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Hey Aussie, As I was baffled as well I wanted to verify and make sure I did a proper clean install of 12.3, which I did. Then it struck me though, I have HDR turned off at the moment cause I somehow like the colors of the scenary more like that. And yup, the problem only occurs with HDR on if my memory serves me right. So appologies for the misinformation. AussieM8 Posted August 23, 2012 Posted August 23, 2012 (edited) Hey Strut, very funny :-) I'm sure you spent many a night there from your army days with no money left in your pocket after enjoying the big smoke. ha ha. Bonso, no need to apologize. no problem. maybe AMD should be the one apologizing. Lucky Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I finally gave up and turned HDR off until AMD fixes this problem or I buy an Nvidia card. I'm guessing I'll have an Nvidia card before AMD does anything. doveman Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 12.8 knackered the FPS on my 6950 in Arma2OA. I had to put the atiumdag.dll in the Arma2OA folder to get it working normally. Other people (not with a 6950 so far though) have reported it's working fine for them though. I understand that's the dx9 dll and I don't know if DCS uses that but just thought I'd warn people there might be a problem.
