ariyaner Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 How are you capable of dealing with the horrendous judder / stuttering when turning your head below 75 fps? It's way too distracting for me its simple - there are no judders or maybe i didnt realize them ... now idea i have judders when i come under 20/25 frames and it feels not good /realistic @Frusheen when i play with monitor my grafikcard is fully used so i think my cpu is not limiting
Elo001 Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Welp I just figured it out, at least on my end For some reason enabling vsync in the options locks my VR FPS to 57. Now that I disabled it I get a constant 75, very nice
ariyaner Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 so yeah finaly with all settings on low i got the "magic" 75 frames ... no stable but i see it but 4 me there is no different between all above 25 and 75 or lets say all round 37 frames whatever do you know the problem with the replay - that the vision is "confused" when you look a replay on monitor what you was flying in rift do you know how to fix it ?
DerekSpeare Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 It's just rubbish that low frame rates with the oculus is acceptable. Anyone that can handle VR with low FPS is clearly a mutant, and needs to be hidden away from society. I honestly don't know how they do it; I go to Hurl Town. DerekSpeare Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 (edited) The Overload VR demo is a good way to test one's constitution in VR. I never get vr induced "discomfort", but after about 20 mins of spinning and whirling in Overload I got a bit uneasy - and I have very high frame rates. I'd likely get used to it in time, but sub-75 frames there are a flat no go. Those who think low frames are ok should try it out in Overload. [ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LZArZOVuEM[/ame] I ran that video in real time with Fraps running which kept the frame rates low...I won't make that mistake again :puke: Edited March 14, 2016 by DerekSpeare Derek "BoxxMann" Speare derekspearedesigns.com 25,000+ Gaming Enthusiasts Trust DSD Components to Perform! i7-11700k 4.9g | RTX3080ti (finally!)| 64gb Ram | 2TB NVME PCIE4| Reverb G1 | CH Pro Throt/Fighterstick Pro | 4 DSD Boxes Falcon XT/AT/3.0/4.0 | LB2 | DCS | LOMAC Been Flight Simming Since 1988! Chivas Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 For obvious reasons both Oculus and Vive settled on 90hz and high frame rates for a decent VR experience. If they could have gotten away with running VR sims at 30fps, that required a much cheaper gpu they would have. 30fps in VR is nonsense at least with the current VR hardware/software.
Chivas Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 We're all different, you know. There is always a portion of the population outside the norm in everything. Your absolutely right, but I'm not so sure there are any humans that wouldn't find Judder very annoying.
SDsc0rch Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 My understanding is 90 Hertz is necessary not to reduce judder, although it certainly does that, it's because at less than 90 Hertz refresh rate a significant portion of the population gets physically nauseous i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ariyaner Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 (edited) oh thats cool i get punished only because i tell you that i have no problems with "low" frame rate in rift thats crazy but if you like it i just wana share my experience and when i wana follow that "mainstream" thats says you need xtrem big hardware i NEVER want give oculus my money but i did with a ****ing ati 5850 and i played alot of diffent games and you can call me mutant or whatever you want but i had fun an NO sickness :pilotfly: btw. i still miss an answer of that question hopefully there are some users here they have a rift an can answer do you know the problem with the replay - that the vision is "confused" when you look a replay on monitor what you was flying in rift do you know how to fix it ? hansangb Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 I don't think anyone was punishing you, more flabbergasted. It's inconceivable - You keep using that word... :) - that anyone wouldn't get sick when the FPS is sooo low in Rift. That's all. Also, ati 5850 seems little under powered for Rift. GTX 980 class (so that's what, R9-290X?) is what's recommended. And I'm not even counting the CPU requirement. Like it or not. VR takes a lot of power...to run smoothly. Since you don't get sick at lower FPS, consider that a gift! :) hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

Frusheen Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 This looks like the first venture into motion simulation in VR by manipulating the inner ear. Samsung have announced a headphone which stimulates a nerve to fool the vestibular system. This could be great for DCS: I'm sure some better videos will be released in the coming days. __________________________________________________Win 10 64bit | i7 7700k delid @ 5.1gHz | 32Gb 3466mhz TridentZ memory | Asus ROG Apex motherboard | Asus ROG Strix 1080Ti overclocked Komodosim Cyclic | C-tek anti torque pedals and collective | Warthog stick and throttle | Oculus Rift CV1 | KW-908 Jetseat | Buttkicker with Simshaker for Aviators RiftFlyer VR G-Seat project: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=2733051#post2733051

Samsung have announced a headphone which stimulates a nerve to fool the vestibular system. This could be great for DCS: I'm sure some better videos will be released in the coming days. i am excited for this technology.. but just like the virturix omni, treadmill, i want to see both these hardware get more game support and an SDK. cause these things are alot of money just to use on one or two games. but would be great if DCS supports it should it become possible to find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
hannibal Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 (edited) I'd be very willing to try this with DCS World!! Although I just might have to keep a couple of barf bags unlocked & ready to be loaded....:D But then, it'd be maximum realism! i would try also! but buying it is another story... if it is compelling enough for DCS maybe i will buy depending on cost. i have no problem being an early adopter if its worth the money. btw, whats your favorite vive experience? sorry about my comments about ur video, but it was really painful to watch, almost like someones grandma driving a race car or something. :/ but will say that i am jealous that u had a taste of consumer PC level VR.. with DCS! Johnny Dioxin Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 There will be plenty, from both Rift and Vive, once the units start being delivered. A little patience... not long to go. SDsc0rch Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 (edited) LOL, no, those videos were not done by me, I posted TribalInstincts video in the HTC Vive thread, because so far as I can find, even as of today, he is still the only person to post a video showing DCS World working with the Vive!!! Other Words, TribalInstincts video is the best "and only" video of DCS World + HTC Vive you gonna see, today anyway, which, yeah, is kinda sad...:D, but hey, at lest he did one.... uhm.. i clicked both your links - where is this DCS/Vive video? he has a video with "A-10" in the title but unless he made a really really short clip in a huge video, i didn't see any DCS in there... [[ edit - THIS : [ame=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUuGnt4Uy8Y]THIS[/ame] is not DCS - even though it has "A-10" in the title (??) ]] Edited March 15, 2016 by SDsc0rch i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Johnny Dioxin Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 This video has probably been linked to here - it is a little old, but it may be of interest to people who, like me, are somewhat late to the VR party and have only seen the recent 'hype' stuff on YT. It told me a lot that I didn't know (and all of it sounds great). So if you are also relatively new to this thread, and don't want to spend ages ploughing through it, you might like to make a coffee and give this a look: Rig: Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS; Ryzen 7800X3D ; 64GB DDR5 5600; RTX 4080; VPC T50 CM2 HOTAS; Pimax Crystal Light I'm learning to fly - but I ain't got wings With my head in VR - it's the next best thing!

DCS wont run on the oculus minimum requirements.. which includes the Graphics Card: GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 290 or better. CPU: Intel Core i5 4590 or greater. RAM: 8GB or more. UNTIL DCS IS FULLY OPTIMIZED TO RUN DCS AT 90Hz MINIMUM or AVG?? (definitely NOT at the MAX) with those specs... DCS WILL NEVER BE AN OCULUS READY TITLE... https://www.oculus.com/en-us/blog/powering-the-rift/ I HOPE DCS WILL OPTIMIZE of course! and change this fact in the future find me on steam! username: Hannibal_A101A http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197969447179
