Gentlemen don´t misunderstand my post, I think that the BBC is one of the best news agency of the world, and i trust it even more than my national news agency.

And under the picture it said "A state-owned Turkish news agency carried pictures it said showed the Syrian jet being shot down" so the BBC wasnt really claiming anything except that it was what the Turkish news was claiming ;)

But....we all have to agree that one of the basis of a good journalist is to double-check your sources, don´t we...?

Exactly! :smilewink:

Its a grey area. I think they clearly knew that it wasn't a verified picture because of the way they presented it. Down the line they can just follow up with "And this picture first shown on Turkish State news has turned out to be a cleverly cropped photo of a Russian flight demonstration team."

I'd say its not the height of journalistic integrity, but its also clear its not a total deception on their part. They said "This is what the Turks say" and clever people figured it out. Part of the news' job is to report things being said so that the rest of us can speculate and be critical. Its not necessarily their job to chase down every lie as long as they don't themselves call them a definite truth. Everytime they put a video of say the Syrian revolution up thats on youtube news agencies make a point of saying things like "We cannot independently verify this footage" and yet we consider it newsworthy.

I'm sure they'll be editing this article soon enough to recognize the deception however.

Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.

The future of air travel is bright – and fast. Since the dawn of the jet age in the 1960s, commercial air travel has remained relatively unchanged. However, today’s demand for smarter and faster technologies is driving the next generation of commercial travel with supersonic aircraft, which could potentially cut U.S. coast-to-coast travel time almost in half.

With the commercial air travel industry expected to grow to more than five times its current size, the economic impact and significant time savings of a more efficient supersonic travel system will become increasingly important in our global economy.

I usually don't follow avia and mil news that much and this is why I find this thread so valuable. What I'm trying to say here is I don't have anything big. Just few tidbits of info I'd much like to see supplemented with something better.

IMO:

drills in a region adjacent to Ukraine/Russia border => newsworthy

this is a news thread => there are no 'simple drills', 'routine drills' or 'unsettling drills'; just 'drills'

The U.S. Air Force send 18 Europe-based fighter jets to Poland in June for joint training at Lask Air Base, officials said Wednesday.

NATO increases Baltic air policing. The U.S. rotation is scheduled to end May 1, but the expanded nature of the air policing mission is set to continue and even increase through the next deployment. Given the enlarged scope of the mission going forward, three nations are going to deploy aircraft starting May 1. These nations are Poland — originally tasked with the rotation before the crisis — Denmark and the United Kingdom, fielding the MiG-29A, F-16AM and Eurofighter Typhoon, respectively. With Poland expected to send four aircraft, the United Kingdom another four to six, and Denmark an additional six, the mission will be greatly expanded with up to 16 aircraft — a fourfold increase over usual deployments. France has also signaled that it is willing to send Rafale jets to the mission, and although no firm commitment has been made, they could join the August deployment.
