marcos
You're aiming you gun/gunpod. 'LA' appears right where you're trying to see. Seriously, could they not have put this elsewhere? You're using computer-aiming, the target marker and pipper sight are exactly the same leading to confusion as to which is which when manoeuvring close on target. Cookie
When I was serving I had the opportunity to check out a lot of russian-built stuff (mostly inherited from the former East Germany), and let´s just say ergonomics don´t rank high at all with russian designers and engineers. Most of their machines are downright uncomfortable, cramped and painful to look at (that green/blueish color everywhere.. ugh..), and some systems can be easily confused under stress. You wouldn´t believe how the interiors of russian tanks are designed when you are used to western tanks. It just boggles your mind. So yeah, "russian ergonomics" would be quite an oxymoron. However, the good thing is that this makes their machines easy to build in large numbers and their simplicity makes them quite rugged and easily repairable in the field. When a western tank breaks down for whatever reason, it needs to be towed to the back and specialists need to take care of it. When a russian tank breaks down, you can fix 98% of the problems with a sledge hammer, a wrench and some duct tape. Well, that´s my experience anyway. marcos
Start doing it right and your 'perceived problems' will go away. Well that's another typically useless unconstructive piece of criticism. Steeper dives do help but the HUD design is shit. The resolution is so poor that the icon lines are 20 times wider than the target. The icons are stupidly shaped and block everything. Could definitely be improved. Frostie
Never had an issue with the HUD and it's ergonomics. Don't recall making such anal observations. marcos
So there's nothing you'd change about the gun/rocket sight on the Su-25T? I guess that's why some people are designers and others are testers.

Well that iconography actually looks much better but it's nothing like what you see in the game. Where is that? It's actually a 25SM but the whole HUD concept is a mile away from what is in DCSW, not least the fine lines. But then again Su25T is free. Capt_Haddock
The flight model is simply excellent, and as good as the DCS series. Remember that the Su-25T and Su-25 from Flaming Cliffs were the first ones to get the advanced flight model. The HUD is also pretty accurate. That video is from an SM, a much more recent upgrade. Keep in mind the T is pretty much 1980's tech. The main differences from the T and the rest of the DCS series are the lack of clickable cockpit and the missing systems (power, radio, etc), which means you don't get to start-up your bird properly, but once you are up and running, the experience is pretty much the same. And if you've flown the Shark you'll also notice that the weapons systems are almost as accurate, but with a lot more choice this time.

EtherealN
Su-25T is 1990 plane 22 years after there is nothing to hide at all :] Thing is that the T-frog was experimental. You'd end up in pretty much the same seat as with the Ka-50; you have to select a specific physical aircraft and say "okey, we'll simulate this one". And in regards to the T-frog - is there even such a plane theoretically available? (I don't know, I'd hope so, but then again - I'd much rather see an SM than a T when it comes to a DCS Frog.) Quite sad, really. Well most of the Ru guys are OK but many of them can't stand when they hear about Russian equipment and its weakness compared to the West. On the Ru section you could find argues between ED officials and common members, but inside team too :) Thing is that the T-frog was experimental. There are few T-toads left. Others have been upgraded to TM standard as platform tester for SM. Su-25SM so far is still behind Su-25T in precision weapon delivery platform. SM doesn't have any TV with magnification so far. Weapons are still under construction :) Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make...
