Trident Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Looking very good! Don't be too worried about those ED models. They will be released when they'll be released, but I won't count on it happening anytime soon. In the mean time, your model will be a great substitute :)
ezechiel203 Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Really awesome! I'd have never thought ED would release such a crucial add-on as far as 3rd party 3d models are concerned! I'd also like to congratulate Strikemax for his high end model. BTW, what about skins? Is your model's skin template similar to the ED's one? I can't wait to see this wild beast dressed in a high res skin!
Pilotasso Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 BTW how to scale the objects correctly for the game? .
StrikeMax Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 BTW, what about skins? Is your model's skin template similar to the ED's one? I can't wait to see this wild beast dressed in a high res skin! 99% yes. I have already did some tests on that.
Disso Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 OhmyGod this is a dream come true. This is what LOMAC's been missing, the ability to mod to a far greater extent. Now that we have these tools, I hope everyone realizes the possibilities! You can import models in for your own use, new buildings, airports, vehicles, plane models, I mean this is it! Just wondering how this will work though. Will we be allowed to create a model for, and fully distribute it to everyone. So say this Su-27 model, when completed, can we make it a LOMAN file and simply install it like that, replacing the needed files and such. SU-30MKI F/A-18F ...Beauty, grace, lethality.
Pilotasso Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 It would be IT if only we could make new pits and assign instruments and HUD to them. .
Disso Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 This is not a new aircraft, Strikemax is simply making a new 3D model for the existing Su-27. Why would we need a new pit and such? The content is already in the game. The way I read it, it seems like all you do to switch in a model is place in the file, remove the old, and give the new one the name of the old. It's just like the Beatle model in the other thread that was already successfully implemented! All the data files for the hummer are there, so all he did was switch the 3D model, and it appeared ingame. When destroyed, the beatle's damaged model showed up as a Hummer, because those files have not been replaced. So in that case, if we had a larger community, we could be seeing new models every which way, installing them with ModMan! Infact, this SHOULD develop the community! SU-30MKI F/A-18F ...Beauty, grace, lethality.
ARM505 Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Yes, and quite frankly I LIKE the fact that only existing models can be changed. I REALLY don't want another F4, ie to be able to play the latest version you need a degree course in how to install the sim, plus stay current on what versions of what you need (ie F4+1.08+FF1.xx+BMS2.058+Noddies weapon mod 1.224+Big Ears physics mod 2.785 + Wascally Wabbit Cockpit x^2*3 mod etc etc). I actually gave up on F4, it took too much work to operate the actual program, let alone the F16! Now I have F4AF and its patches, thats it. Let's keep LO simple.
NEODARK Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 awesome work strikemax, I've been following your baby for a long time, im glad its all finally coming together.
ezechiel203 Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 99% yes. I have already did some tests on that. sweet! keep on with this! 1
Force_Feedback Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 We're already 99% happy :) But the Su-27 3d model will fill that last percent, and make the world peaceful. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:

Oh btw, Malignant, like you said you are an experianced modeler, now your skills will really be welcomed. IMHO, you wanted to build a hawk for your aerobatic team to fly in, that's fine but you have to remember that we can't add new planes just replace the old models in the game. So if you were going to built from scratch, i personally say rebuild one of the models in the game so the whole community can appreciate it, especially one of the flyables. Such as the F-15, i don't believe anyone is planning to upgrade that so that would be really great if someone modeled that. And plus it will be a kick ass aerobatic plane due to its tight turn. If you don't want to start off that big with a plane, there's always something small like the MiG-29 fuel tank. Take a look at how ugly the one in the game is. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Omega Oska Posted September 8, 2006 Author Posted September 8, 2006 Thank god that you are still with us, Strikemax. Great model. Do you plan to leave it as a third party addon or let ED integrate it? BTW: could there be a high poly version with rivets and panel lines modelled on it? Of course it may not be practical FPSwise, but it sure will make nice screenies.
SuperKungFu Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 I believe ED said they wanted to model their own so i don't think they will intergrated it. That's what stopped strikemax a long time ago. But now its different now we have the plugin. Anyway a question to strikemax, When you tested your model out in the game, was there any moving surfaces like flaps, elevators, canopy, airbrake...etc? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
StrikeMax Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Hi To Omega and KungFU, NO I did not experiment with animation at this stage. will not try it til the model is finished. Re the super high model, yes im thinking of that. It will be for movie creation mostly. the idea is to record the track flying a normal model. then load the super high poly one just before movie creation. Of course the AVI exporter would by ideal since it exports a frame by frame basis, so highst graphics settings and hi poly model are ok. lets wait and see ;)
hitman Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 We're already 99% happy :) But the Su-27 3d model will fill that last percent, and make the world peaceful. Look!!! A reason to live now! Just not a good enough reason to stop drinking.
StrikeMax Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Yes I took that shot ;) ..if you know what I mean G: 1
SuperKungFu Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 HOLY CRAP THAT IS FREAKIN SEXY. I can't wait to see it in the game some day man  . You are a living legend. I'm surprised you only have a rep point of 2, here, have some more lol. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
pappavis Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 KnellKnell have been working on a MirageF1 model. In fact you can try out the Mirage F1 in lo-mac right now! :D Yes, head on over to TekaTeka's site to download it or go check out http://www.lockon-models.com for info. The MirageF1 replace the Mirage2000. I figure that KnellKnell have used the 3DSMax plugin which ED have released a few days ago? Couldnt strikemax use that plugin too then release his Su-27 model to us eagerly awaiting?? Though it was kinda nice to see a MirageF1 on my lo-mac, next up a South African Airforce skin for it? :) met vriendelijke groet, Михель "умный, спортсмен, комсомолетс" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] [TABLE]SPECS: i9-9900K 32gigs RAM, Geforce 2070RTX, Creative XFi Fata1ity, TIR5, Valve Index & HP Reverb, HOTAS Warthog, Logitech G933 Headset, 10Tb storage.[/TABLE]
SuperKungFu Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 I chose not to install the MirageF1 model because the FM and damage model would be all wrong since its still the Mirage2000. And yes stikemax is going to use the plugin, that's why he continued his project. And i assume its currently not done so we have a little more time to wait. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
wasserfall Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Excellent work Strikemax, i really like to see your model finished. This is what most of us were waiting for!!
