Maybe I can help simplify (Gosh, I hope I am right!). Once you downloaded the software "JSGME" extract (unzip) the downloaded file directly into the DCS root directory, this should likely be C:\Program Files\DCS World (or C:\Program Files\DCS World Open Beta), this would actually be step #2 of the install if you follow the install instructions on page 1 of this post, then follow the remaining instructions.

 

Hey Fakum. First time it makes sense. I was unzipping on my desk top so that I could find it and move it. I will delete and download again and unzip the folder properly.

When I created a shortcut the program asked me where to find the mods and I hit ok without changing it to "_MODS". Now I can't figure out how to change it. I created a few new shortcuts but it reverts to the Mods folder instead of _MODS where I have them. Help.

You need to delete, or edit, the JSGME.ini file to fix that.

Need to try harder then, because that's the only file where JSGME stores its folder configuration data. Edit it, the very first two lines should look like this:

Name=_MODS

I use JSGME DCS as well as other games. I probably have 10 copies of the exe spread over all of my machines. I even use it to mod the DCS main folder, with a separate copy for modding the Saved Games\DCS folder.

Hhmmm... :unsure: there must be a way to use JSGME with both 1.5 & 2.0 when you use the same Mods without double the whole programm and all the mods...

Anyone tried that?

I don't think you can make it work because JSGME keeps track of installed mods, and the data that was moved, inside the 'Mods' folder.

yeah, I tried to do it with only one install of the program, couldn't. I resorted to having 3 separate installs of JSGME, they were ALL installed on the c:\ drive and worked independently of each other e.g.

C:\Generic Mod Enabler 1.2

C:\Generic Mod Enabler 1.5 Open Beta

C:\Generic Mod Enabler 2.0 Open Alpha

 

And the shortcuts named JSGME 1.2, JSGME 1.5, JSGME 2.0 so there would be no confusion

Don't know if it's mentioned in here but there is a blank DCS directory that you can download. Just copy and paste the section you need into your _mods directory, this eliminates the tedious task of constructing your directory each time. Hopefully it's still out there for downloading.

Zeke, I was having the same issue. Deleted it reinstalled and it wouldn't ask for a MODS folder on initialization. Changed the INI file in the JSGME to _MODS and still didn't work. Kept wanting to use Mods folder in DCS. Then I found another JSGME ini file in the DCS World folder, I edited that one to _MODS and now it finds the right folder.

 

You can also delete that ini file in DCS World and when you start JSGME it will ask what the Mod folder is called.
