Wags:

1.2.3 Update

We share the frustration of another Monday without 1.2.3 being ready, but in the course of working on 1.2.3, what we term a "blocking" bug was introduced into the game. Specifically, helicopters unable to ramp start. This would break a significant number of missions / campaigns. We will now fix the issue, create a new installer, test the installer, and then release 1.2.3. We sincerely hope this will go quickly. No one wants to get 1.2.3 out the door more than us!

@Wags

Thanks for the constant updates in this matter. I believe that it must be a lot of pressure for you and the devs right now over there....the more the Game proceeds, the more it will be difficult to put out patches that don't break somethings else on another place. Although it is sad, I really understand this...so don't rush, wouldn't worth it...you´ll make it

technically isnt that against the rules, Purposely bypassing filters by substituting characters, that is?

The only set of filters here are the mods. Simple swear word filters that match only with a database of strings are too cumbersome and too easy to bypass anyway.

So if the testers missed something like,,,, Oh yeah you can't even start the choppers, then what other surprises are in there? AGM-65's fly in reverse? or Gear doesn't retract or.... fill in the blanks. I'm sure glad they did't let the inexperienced or unqualified people test it.

This is going to be a good one.:lol:

If the testers had missed it, you'd be the one finding it out right now. You are way off base implying that testers are incompetent, so i'd like to ask you to leave that line of discussion be.

You have to see some humor in that the choppers cant start. I for one think it's pretty hilarious.

No offense to the testers in reality as it's obvious that someone did a last minute tweak after the testing done. :pilotfly:

In your above examples it is EXTREMELY easy to think that they are on the verge of releasing, they mention installers (which means to the layman that the patch itself is done, it might not be correct but that is the impression I got, perhaps I am simply a idiot) and they even give us a date to expect it.

My point is that the announcements EXPLICITLY stated:

"Today we are building a new release installer for 1.2.3 that we hope to release soon."

"While it is certainly not a promise, we will do our very best to release of 1.2.3 by the end of the week."

I assume it is the first of these two that you find objectionable? Because the latter certainly is very explicit?

But the point is: the hope WAS to release it. However, once testing on it commenced, issues were found.

What you need to understand is that the alternative to the above, which I personally feel is quite explicit, is to simply say nothing at all. You won't get your hopes up because you'll be given zero information about status. There really is no middle ground there. You're told what the best approximation of status is, with explicit caution that this is an aspiration.

And no, building an installer does NOT mean that "the patch itself is done". It means an installer was built. That's all. Installers must be tested as well.

I am sorry you don't agree but that is how I feel as a customer.

I know that, I'm just trying to show you where your thinking went wrong. :)

And of course, I would generally hope that if you think something is strange in future - you ask about it nicely. There's usually someone around here that will be able to explain what things are. I realize not everyone knows how software development works, but surely you can see my point that if it's said that an installer is being prepared and it is HOPED that it will be released... doesn't this explicitly say that there's still things to check? If the installer preparation really was the last step, it wouldn't be a "hope", it would be a "will" release. ;)

Im guessing we will have it by April 1. Helo ramp start is a show stopper no doubt. Need that for the ground commander to call in helo support. Give them 2 weeks to fix that, another week to build the installer and test, 1 week as a buffer in case anything else shows up.

I was in Art of the Kill D#@ it!!!!

That's above my paygrade. It all depends on how much time Moscow will allow for testing. *Purely technically speaking* it could be released any time ranging from tomorrow to never. :)
