GGTharos Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Ah, now that makes sense ... in that case in the absence of better information it might be better to implement it as an actual TTI counter. In the game, F-15 does this as well: TTI with good data or max missile flight time if not. I'm not sure about that. The manual does not say, the radar always paints the target for 60 seconds. It says, that radar paints the target for 60 seconds, if radar in uncomplete data mode (i.e. you don't have range, target uses jammer, etc.). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Sov13t Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I'm not sure about that. The manual does not say, the radar always paints the target for 60 seconds. It says, that radar paints the target for 60 seconds, if radar in uncomplete data mode (i.e. you don't have range, target uses jammer, etc.). None of the manuals mention that scale being any different. Also, the fact that there is no actual read out but just a symbolic scale kind of points into the direction that there aren't any calculations being done by the computer for TTI. The manual says " Время, оставшееся до встречи ракеты с целью. " And in english more or less is : " Time remaining before missile reach target " A better translation "Time remaining for the missile to hit the target" Which in certain interpretation, in my opinion, means Write-off Time. --- I could be wrong, in fact I would love to be wrong, but from the 5 different documents that describe operation of the Flanker, none of them mention any computations affecting that timer. EtherealN Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 A better translation "Time remaining for the missile to hit the target" Which in certain interpretation, in my opinion, means Write-off Time. To perhaps illustrate in another way, it's the difference between: "Time remaining until the missile WILL hit the target." and "Time remaining where it is POSSIBLE for the missile to hit the target." (Essentially the amount of time that the missile is "alive".) My russian is however very poor so I cannot speak to which is the better translation. Cali Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 Hey, you guys need to calm down and get back to working and looking at info on the F-15. Can't have you guys spending time fixing any other jet, this is a F-15 sim......remember! I'm joking fella's, Does anyone have any info on the weapons the Su-27S carried in the 90's up to 2001? weapons, upgrades.....stuff like that? Yes, I can look around the web, but I figured the experts have this info saved somewhere. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
manfrez01 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 (edited) I hope ED allows su27 to lunch R77. The use of active heads (r 77) in-27, the discucion, badly burned and divided this forum. I flew on servers with these missiles and was an excellent experience, then +1. Incidentally, Panther Server and, HOT server have this mod. Try it recommended. ФрогФут Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 None of the manuals mention that scale being any different. The only text, where it is mentioned: hold the directional ring, until the target is hit or the time till impact reaches zero (which may mean the missile missied in calculated time). It may be both, but it is never mentioned, that it is always 60 seconds. In fact, you don't need numeric. You just wait, till the line reaches 0. It may be the same length for any amount of time, with just the drop rate being different. A better translation "Time remaining for the missile to hit the target" Time, which is left, till the missile meets the target. "Я ошеломлён, но думаю об этом другими словами", - некий гражданин Ноет котик, ноет кротик, Ноет в небе самолетик, Ноют клумбы и кусты - Ноют все. Поной и ты.
ZaltysZ Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Maybe that time-line is analogues to watch used in WWII submarines. Let's say we have a target with constant speed and course, we launch a missile, computer calculates the point at which missile will meet the target, then computer calculates the time missile needs to get there, and starts the timer, which will run till 0 by itself. I think, if it was a time remaining until missiles dies, it would be worded differently in the manual without the part "meets/reaches the target". 1 Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.
Sov13t Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Yeah, now that we started quite a debate on the subject things are actually pointing in the direction of a calculated time to intercept rather than write-off - I was wrong, apologies. Great! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 51st PVO Regiment | Forum | Statistics DCS: MiG-21Bis
SFAL Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Yesssss..... looks like ED is living up to its word :) in a few days (i hope ...maybe weeks) we will have a capabilty to give those F15 VPs a run for gor their money who say.... the F15 IS the king of BVR..... the missiles will be sorted as well...and i will get over it hehehe ;)
GGTharos Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 If you weren't able to give them a run for their money before this, you won't have it after, either. GGTharos Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 I don't think you interpreted correctly ... but if you think a TWS mode will let you give someone a run for their money, by all means, keep thinking that. Frostie Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Well against 1 F-15 it actually doesn't :smilewink: The only thing it does give is better chance in 1vs2 scenario Well hopefully it will include the same zero MCUpickup/launch warning by RWR's that the F-15's enjoy with TWS, that will mean that the bandits will not know they've been launched on, this is a game changer IMO.
