112th_Rossi Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Why are most people excited for this? Is it the AA/AG capability? The naval ops? Or the fact it's the first proper DCS level U.S. fast mover? For me I'm interested in all of the above, but the naval operations really need to be included to a decent degree to get the full taste of the hornet. Can someone explain the difference between the superhornet and the hornet? Which one are supposedly getting?
Dejjvid Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Honestly? I could not care less for naval ops. Rotorhead Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Why are most people excited for this? Is it the AA/AG capability? The naval ops? Or the fact it's the first proper DCS level U.S. fast mover? For me, it's a little bit of everything. Although choppers are my interest number one, sometimes I feel the need to get past Mach 1 and pull some G's and the Hornet will be just fine for this purpose. :) And I also like multirole jets, because they are much more fun than those purely dedicated to A2A. In F-18, there are loads of buttons to push and many interesting stuff like tgp, guided weapons and the like, and I just love to operate these devices. And about the naval ops. Although I'm not exactly into this stuff, I'm sure that landing on a carrier will add nice extra chalenge to our sim. ;) Can someone explain the difference between the superhornet and the hornet? Which one are supposedly getting? The C version (not-super) AFAIK.
Toxe Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) I just watched the new video (http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=100357) and noticed the aircraft shadow on the ground at 9:30 minutes. Could be one of the FC3 planes, though, as well... Edited January 22, 2013 by Toxe

leafer Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Why are most people excited for this? Most of the men here are probably just relieved that's it's not the F-16. In the book From Bumble Bee to Hornet, after the marines handed McDonnell Douglas the wad of cash, one of the taller marines punched Douglas in the gut and said you give me gay looking jet like General Dynamics gave the Air Force and I'ma do the same to your children's children. True story. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
92nd-MajorBug Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Sorry but I can't find anything official about the F-18C being the next DCS module, except Wags' avatar. Do you have a source for that info ? 92nd Kodiak Air Force - May the Greuh be with you

Wags had an avatar image of a russian jet (was it su-27?). Have they made a module of it people ? ;) Would be funny if it ends up a 3rd party is making the F18C instead of ED ahah. 92nd-MajorBug Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 "Several new modules being developped by Eagle Dynamics and our partners" is what the promo video says, before listing them all. Most of them are 3rd party modules, so that's not a DCS : Hornet yet ;) Have they made a module of it people ? What about FC3 ? Aren't they doing a new 3d model and 6dof cockpit for the Su-27 ? ;) I want to believe, but ... feels like it's still too soon ;) 92nd Kodiak Air Force - May the Greuh be with you
Mandrake5 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Anyone care to speculate why ED chose the F-18C over the more potent F-18E Super Hornet? Could it be due to the comparative lack of unclassified data for the more modern jet?
Cali Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Most of the men here are probably just relieved that's it's not the F-16. That's a false statement, there are a lot of people that would be very happy with a F-16. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
secret1962 Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 And what about the F-15C... it'd be easy for them to make a module considering what they have already made in FC3... Anyone care to speculate why ED chose the F-18C over the more potent F-18E Super Hornet? Could it be due to the comparative lack of unclassified data for the more modern jet? Not confirmed yet it's ED developing it...
