That'll be the new A-10 KFC...

That's not a pitot tube, but a fuel probe. It was fitted to the test aircraft for the biofuel program back in 2010.

While I applaud the modder who got this working, I found that the sun glare on the yellow windows when turning made them near impossible to look through.

Anyone else have this issue? I have HDR set as normal.

Hi Spetz

Try this file below instead, I've lessened the effect. It maybe too little now? Tested in strong sunlight, low on the horizon at 90 degrees to the canopy and while it does glow, it doesn't make things hard to see. Same install instructions as earlier.

Milli

Hello,

If it's possible, anybody can explain to me the utility of these two orange windows of the A-10C ?

A better vision by day or by night ?

A great thanks in advance for your explanations...

Best regards. Skull

Paulrkriii should be able to answer this with the correct reason, but my wild guess is that it is Gold film on or in the glass used for windscreen heating??

:)

Honestly I have no idea :(. Not something I've ever thought to ask. On a different note...drank a few beers with some or our pilots the last two nights. Plan on bring my Warthog HOTAS and my sim laptop to have our pilots play around with DCS A-10C to see what they think next month during drill weekend.

Milli, Just a quick heads up, I have noticed with more testing that the center Window and Tacan/ILS panel windows are also tinted with this file. On closer inspection of the .DDS file, I have noticed it is completely different than the original version you posted earlier in post #14.

Could you have a look at them please as this second version is spot on (tint/color wise) when your free.

Thanks

JJM

If anybody have a solution because I really love the orange windows...

Hi Skull.

Have you tried the file I posted in post 38 above? That file removed the colour from my TACAN and ILS windows. I'm using it at the moment and it looks fine.

Re Milli,

Yes with the file of the post #38 everything is OK...

But I would like to know if it's possible to have the same file but with one orange more dark or more orange ?

Because with the file of post #38 I think that the orange is too light, no ?

Once again a great thanks in advance for all and have a good day, Skull.

Hi Skull

Yep, will do that. I'll make the effect a bit more pronounced. Maybe a day or two.

Milli

Try this file skulleader. Any changes you want just ask, it doesn't take long to change, just a few minutes. I've made this one a bit more 'orangey-red' and a little more pronounced. If I turn up the effect too much then visibilty can be very reduced when the sun is at 90 degrees to the side panel and at a low altitude. The panel seems to 'glow' brightly! This glowing is a problem that I do not know how to overcome. Angle of the sun hitting the side panel makes a huge difference on the visibility of this effect (whether good or bad).

Milli

I can not wait to try out your version, Milli. A little more pronounced is exactly what I desired when I tried the original mod.
