Steel Jaw Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 Trouble I have with the FC3 fighters in "my" DCSW environment is there is far too much "rinse and repeat" fliers there. Evil.Bonsai Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 The 104th's A2G only server has no fighter jets on it. Though their A2A "mixed" server is more fun trying to dodge the fighters by, hopefully, stealth tactics, at least in my copter. If you fly the ingress pre-planned route, the enemy probably also has flown your side in the Hawg, so they know the route, too. Do not be predictable! With FC3 mixed in, sorties really need a mixed bag---squad oriented, so you need to have guys flying air cover for you. I've been there many times :) Good place to fly. And yes, after the 2nd time I was shot down <10miles from my takeoff location (first time I had no clue, just a missile alert then bang; 2nd time he flew past my 'chute and that's how I knew someone was stalking our base), I flew directly away from my waypoint, climbed 13K feet, then turned towards my wp1. Didn't get shot down that time. :)
arteedecco Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Sometimes I do think there should be negative points given for each weapon released. ...that'd teach the Airquakers. :D Would be a nice touch to have an customizable scoring system with a little more depth. Lose points for ejecting Lose points for firing missile (varies with type) / firing guns (less point loss), but.. Get points for kill, more points for guns kill Present hit percentage in scoreboard Make it customizable Make standardized screen on server so players can see which scoring options are set For that matter make a server setup summary screen that also allows admins to set weap availability, which is available to players... not unlike the in-game spam message workaround used by many servers for simulating Cold-war era limitations using Slmod. Would be nice to have it built-in to server (... dedicated server!). arteedecco Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 F14D, F15E, AH-64D, Su-34 Would all be awesome. Still need ED to support multi-human support in one vehicle, which isn't there today, though UH-1 will have multi-seat (multi-position) capability, but only for single human. arteedecco Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 ^^ Agreed. Both solutions are useful here. So many other great titles have successfully implemented scoring systems that are consistent, customizable, and functional, even accounting for users switching sides, logging on / off, etc. Don't think the wheel needs reinventing, or that it is at all unreasonable to ask for a scoring system that is more robust. I'll forgo naming off the slurry of titles that have it down pat. arteedecco Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 You cant cure stupid, nor can you code it out of an Sim or game ;) But I think there are tools to block stupid :) Not necessarily "stupid" always. People play w/in the limits of the SIM. If you make it so community can enforce standards everyone will abide and those who don't are out. Just need the tools to be able to do it effectively. Best solution... SIMulate RL... why don't people go up and shoot off 8 AIM-120's in RL? << there are multitudes of reasons. On the flip side in RL, you're not operating as a solo artist, you have threat briefings, you have tons of assets and AWACS... you don't need to shoot 8 AIM-120's and you're lucky to see a bandit! Frankly, in RL if it were me vs. Su and I was certain that it was just he and I... he'd get the whole 9 yards!
