Hello All,

I am new here my name is Devin Rodrigues. I was recommended her from another forum stating that there wasn't many Naval models if any. I have been modeling ships for a long time but this is my first attempt at a Naval Vessel, i have made cruise ships, Greenpeace ships and sea shepherd ships. I really have never played the game and i would like to see some renders of the Sea and the way ships look in game. Any How I Have been Working on this model for several months. She is almost Complete. I have to model the Bridge and the Turret needs to be put back on the Bow but other than that she is pretty much complete. I Hope this is the right section as well. She was modeled in Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk 3DS Max and SAP Visual Enterprise.

Name: USS Rafael Peralta

Type: Arleigh-Burke Class FLT IIA

Hull: 115

Status: Under Construction

Builder: General Dynamics (Bath Iron Works)

Operator: United States Navy

Top Speed: 42.5 Knots

Great work, need that models on DCS:W....... ideal for a sea module :) Not sure if models limit to 100000-150000 poligons.

There is a Polygon Limit?

I would happily accept if he has the time!

Ok they are not combat related:

Awesome, would be nice if you could manage to import the Civillian ships into DCS World.

Imagine, protect the MS Queen Elizabeth, lying in the harbor of Sukhumi from insurgent attack.

As far as limits on the poly's don't think there is a real limit, but less is better given the high amount of objects in DCS.

Any plans on making the Nishin Maru? Would love to fire some KH-25 ML's using a vanilla frogfoot.:joystick:

And assuming your not all that familiar whit the combat side of things;

And in case you didn't know yet, you can download and use DCS World for free.

Yes I can imagine that aswell, Yes the only problem is that the Arleigh Burke is an American ship and the MS Queen Elizabeth is British it would be the job of the Royal Navy but i understand what you mean. Or the Esperanza is trying to evade capture by the North Korean Navy after taking photos of their nuclear sites and the USS Rafael Perinatal must escort and protect the Esperanza. I have made a Nisshin Maru but it is probably one of the worst models i have ever made it took about 5 minutes and is very low poly!

Devin, You can see my models here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=88979

Very poor compared with your great work, but expect improved them.

The poligon limit match with the best model on DCS:W, but sure can been improve them. If you like, send me a MP and can start test to DCS:W ;)

Awesome model! :)

As far as getting it into the game - since the Burke class shares most of its armament(depending on variant) with the Tico class already in the sim, at least the weapons script should be fairly straight forward to make.

dang..

The USS Rafael Peralta model looks like a real world plastic model. Awesome!

Heh, that's what I was actually trying to figure out the first 15 minutes after he posted this. It totally looked like a real world plastic model, but the text said it was modelled in 3DMax or whatever, and I was like wtf? :megalol:

@ ArleighBurke... Excellent work there, brilliant effort

Or put the Esperanza in and make out it is in a New Zealand harbour :P

Thank You Guys!

So I have news on the Poly Count of the USS Rafael Peralta

Polycount: 325,023

That I'm afraid is going to go higher as well because this is with out Wires, Rope Railing, Propellers and The Main Turret.

I will take requests of sections of the ship people would like to see.

Here is a Picture for the Day!

This is not my model this is just info on a Arleigh Burke Class Destroyer!

Does anyone have a picture of the Ticonderoga currently in game?

There are only a few ships in game that are of high quality. In the last year or so these two received a massive upgrade. Along with the Carl Vinson (which is an older model), they make up the entirety of the US fleet in DCS.

Lovely!

You can get away with a reasonably high polycount - provided that the number of groups of objects is not too high.

For example, I licensed this model of CVN-76 from Turbosquid for a project I'm working on:

signature01.jpg18fed04a-5af8-4701-9c07-5b4e8aaf150cHD.jpg6cfe8d86-ce8f-4f0f-ae64-9280ea78399bLarge.jpg

http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/491281

The polycount is maybe double what the Hornets I have are, but the part count for the carrier is around 2000 parts (lots of little lifeboats and fire hoses). Having a high part count is a bit problematic - takes my framerate from over 700 fps with just a SuperHornet and sky down to around 50 once the carrier is in.

So, try to design with polys below 300k and around 200 parts, if you can help it. The 2000 parts on that carrier is getting too much.

I hope that helps with your design. Great work man - she's looking bee-yooo-ti-ful.
