In 3 months your view wouldn't carry any weight

Well, I do believe a new player who is well invested in the game and considering scraping it as they develop an extension is worth at least 10 cents more than someone who is happy and ready to buy.

There is a reason the company you have been so loyal too has a new costumer discount but will not even so much as tell you thank you!!!

It costs about 10x as much to earn a new costumer than it does to keep an old one.....

You think you're communicating some ground breaking discovery or that we're all contendedly treading water between badly needed updates? If you'd stop looking through your straw and take in the bigger picture you'd see that everyone in this community (meaning the community of people who are in here trying trying to make this work) have ALREADY stated every point you have ad nauseum. The reason you get the flagerant response is that we've all been down this road before... we've had our freakouts and realized it doesn't do anyone any good at all so we plug away and try and resolve the issues as best we can. It'll be ready when it's ready and no amount of exclamation marks and caps is going to fast forward the process.

11 months and 622 posts, when on earth have you found time to fly!!!!

HAHAHAHA, I bet I have more time behind the stick than you in three months.

How many posts do you have at simhq ffs

I was about to say: "Hey, just give me a shout and I'll give you the password for our server and let you know when we play MP again. We usually fly at least 2-3 times a week and fly coordinated missions, often with a human JTAC, are 'serious', yet relaxed people and welcome every skill level".

Then, I thought, nope. I'd rather not.

Clearly your loss, cause on the 104th I have made friends with everyone... And yeah!! I am just as rude.

I have done everything I can do and had fun with the phoenix dedicated servers but when their TS went down it was worthless. nothing worse than idiots who can join a server running a game that has fairly high system requirements but not run TS cause they explain in type they do not have a microphone. WTF

I have X52(custom Profile), G13, Triton Headset, 5 monitors (3 set to eyefinity 2 dedicated to a custom Helios profile) cockpit is displayed n a 32inch touchscreen, and an extremely high end desktop.

I own a personal CNC machine and have every intention of designing a home SIM, I am finding it hard to dedicate the expense of building a sim for any aircraft in this game.

Hate and troll all you want but my argument is valid. I just checked every public server and there is a combined 29 people logged in right now. I just droped more money on that Combined Arms and for what. I have seen 2 servers that make use of it?

DCS is worried about making more clickable airvraft when they havent even finished making the GUI for the existing aircraft compete with industry standards. Why do we still have to edit lua code to export gauges and such. I can't even change from the A10-C to the KA-50 without doing massive file changes in both the options for my screen and in the program files to make helios function.

Helios is a great program and Gadroc deserves more credit for it than DCS does for everything else they have done. DCS should include something like HELIOS, ffs we can't even change our game sounds without going damn near to the desktop.

I can go on and on and on with issues that need to be prioritized over new aircraft and every one of those reasons represents a percentage of members that DCS discourages.

This is exactly how I feel about DCS products, argue and turn your nose makes no difference. I am new to flight sims as of Jan 2013 and have put a fair amount of time towards learning everything I can. So, my view on this should carry some weight, I am not jaded or appreciative for the things that DCS does better than others. This is all I have seen and I am not impressed.

Consider the demographics for a moment. First off they need a descent computer, interest in flight sims, enough knowledge to not be intimidated, expensive equipment like joysticks/g13 etc, knowledge of programming(must have to edit lua and extract), a shit ton of patients, be willing to hand over 40 bucks every time they turn around, and the time to invest in this very serious hobby.. I have seen and met a lot of people in my life but never have I met anyone in RL that flys home simulators.... The demographics are small enough without adressing issues by people who are willing to give it a go.

They can't stay in business on just your dollar....

one last things you veterans have not had to deal with was almost an extremely big deal breaker for me. THIS FORUM, it is cluttered with old information from previous updates that have never been archived. It was nearly impossible to sort through it all just to makes sense of half the things needed to get started. Three fn days to find HELIOS, the website is down and you now need to go to gadrocs workshop to download it but with hundreds of links from 2009 still showing in the searches I thought it was discontinued. 2 weeks after I get Helios working properly they update DCS and the export.lua was moved and instead of playing I am trying to sort out the 1millionth problem!!!!

This sounds like a whole bunch of shoulda coulda woulda.... blah blah blah...

You want some cheese?

Wow, You been here since January?, I've been Simming Since 1989... Game Set Match.

And I Call BS on you 17K Rig, Cuz my current rig is $4500 complete

And My AMD Pro Rig, which runs a $1100 16 Core AMD Chip and 64 GB of Ram w/ 4 7970s only got up to $9500 when I added the invoices, and that counts custom studio hardware cards for Video Editing and 3d Rendering.

Phoenix air to ground is the best server I have found with the exception of what you have mentioned. I Have prolly 17-18k invested in my computer system/monitors/additional hardare and they restrict you to a cockpit view. very aggravating to someone with a setup like mine. I can appreciate the concept of not wanting people to cheat by seeing through the cockpit but there is a view that padlocks you so you are restricted to what a pilot would see anyway.

Other than that I had zero issues with the folks in the phoenix. Made good friends quickly and the TS has many different channels people can drop down to for off topic chat. Even still I learned more from one day in there than I ever could have in these damn forums with their anti-archiving mentality.

Anyone from phoenix reading this please for the love of god fix the view restrictions and stop making every combat station a sam city!!!

And what about all those people that don't want what you ask for, have you actually considered that their are many more varied interests in what makes a good server in this virtual world than just yours?

The profits of making a product like DCS can't hold a candle to the reams of cash first person shooters generate, DCS relys on an understanding and helpful community, the difficulties in keeping such a sim afloat is a very good reason why there is no direct competitor to Eagle Dynamics. With every upgrade the profits allow ED to add more to the basic product, this is a slow but progressive process. Having only spent 3 months here I wouldn't expect you to understand that but spouting how Ghost recon etc. work won't get you anywhere.

One thing i've noticed is your continued highlighting of how much you've invested in this sim, well it ain't nearly enough until you've got your own dedicated server up and running providing hours of fun for like minded individuals like yourself and guess what, YOU get to set the rules and not have to worry about listening to how others strongly claim what options and restrictions should be set. This is the route you should follow and bring something to the table instead of expecting everyone to do it for you.

And that is why DCS is just a side/pet project of Eagle Dynamics that primarily makes simulation software for military clients.

That's were the money is made, not DCS.

I am almost positive that ED sat down and had a serious meeting about how important this project was to the company even if it did not prove financially viable. LMFAO

Never said its not financially viable, only that ED's main business is something quite different.

For example, they could use funding from the military side to bridge gaps between releases or to initially cover unforseen costs due to longer development times.

Just an example ofcourse.

No one here really knows exactly how ED operates, and the ones that do cleverly keep there mouths shut.

The following is what I think, I will not sugarcoat it in any way, shape or form. Deal with it. If you believe in political correctness you may wanna skip this posting altogether.

alphacharlieecho, I am glad you dislike this sim and hope you will turn your back on it as soon as possible. People like you are exactly the kind of people I do not want to have to deal with, and you do nothing to improve the community.

Please go back to the FPS community or whatever mainstream gaming place you came from, where you will fit right in with your whining, short attention span, hardware bragging and unwillingness to obtain information on your own.

Obviously simming is not for you, because if it were you would have realized that the DCS series - despite all its shortcomings - is the best goddamned thing that has happened to the simming community ever since the days of Falcon 4.0.

So yeah, kthxbye, and don´t let the door hit you on your way out.

I'm not even in a position to totally deflate your balloon...I have to wake up far too early in the morning to pick your post apart bit by bit... But here are a few tidbits I will comment on...

Lots of people have nice systems and invest their hard earned cash to play the game...if listing your system specs is supposed to make your post more relevant... It failed.

If you have the resources for such a superior gaming rig, might I suggest you invest a little money and build your own dedicated server. Until then, don't complain that I don't spend my hard earned cash running a server 24/7 for your enjoyment.

I'm not sure why add on programs (or lack of support for said programs) is the problem of ED. My copy of DCS:World, A-10C and Combined arms runs fine on a single monitor...if Helios or any of those other programs listed is vexing you...I suggest you contact them.

Finally, go back and look at how many time you use the phrase " I " in your posts...more than a sure way to come off as a spoiled brat vs someone with valid concerns and issues that might be fixed by people on this forum...

If asked nicely...

Well if anything you've made it perfectly clear that you're a thoroughly unpleasant person. Given your propensity for entitlement and enmity, I'd say your best shot is to do what you did with your gaming setup: throw money at it. Buy a server, buy some people to play with you, buy your own forum to set up archives as you see fit, and have a nice life.

On behalf of myself and many other normal, more pleasant people here, I'd like to offer you a nice tall glass of STFU, free of charge. Now I'm off to go play on a server restricted to in-cockpit view and not piss and moan about it later to an uninvolved third party. :pilotfly:

Clearly The "I" would represent my experience. From the go it is clear you have not read the thread thoroughly. You seen bits and pieces and decided to join the fan fare and make a poorly thought out comment.

There are other sims in the market and none of them have the issues I have listed. Helios is an extremely popular program used by simpits and the fact that it is made by an individual and distributed for free reflects poorly on DCS and ED. This one guy is now expected to maintain and deliver this with updates as DCS evolves. The last patch released by DCS broke Helios and left people searching. and Helios has yet to be updated. Microsoft Flight Simulator allows for extraction of all gauges right from inside the GUI in a drag and drop fashion. Same for the screen size and resolution, yet DCS requires people to rely on second party software and hours of code editing and sifting through unarchived user posts to make this a full functioning flight sim.

If not for Helios there would be no way in hell I would have even considered DCS.

You can read my posts and think in your head that "I" represents a single person because apparently this DCS has been out since 1989 and this is largest community you can muster? I stayed up until midnight to log in and see the numbers online on Friday and there is actually less now.

So I leave this thread unattended from this moment on, I downloaded and installed X-Plane and will give it a go. Maybe I will check back in 10 years or so, maybe!!

If not happy I will try the next, then the next, and so on..

The only thing you need to ask yourselves is what percentage of the people out there does my voice represent. I am willing to bet it represents a much larger demographic than all the members who has posted on this thread in opposition to my opinion.

It almost has to, LMFAO @ 1989- 29 members online!!!

I would like to thank Gadroc and advise DCS to make a generous offer to him to obtain the right s to his project and implement it into DCS core...

Thank you for frequenting our servers. We apologize that the TS server is currently offline. We have operated with a free public TS and multiplayer servers since 2008 with very little downtown at all. These few days would have been the longest. If your frequent our servers and like what we have to offer please take a moment and donate a dollar or two to help keep the infrastructure up and running. Help us continue to deliver what we consider some of the best online play in the DCS / FC3 community.

Just one point: there is never a bigger "investment" than what was paid for the modules an individual purchased that is relevant to ED. The rest is optional, not something ED received.

And with that, I'll close this thread, for obvious reasons. I invite everyone to very carefully read the forum rules.
