Is it normal that I get only between 8 and 12 KB/s for the autoupdater download? Or should I abort and restart?

(And no, I'm not using ISDN and I have no other background downloads)

Imagine how many others are hitting that server right now...

That's why I don't use autoupdater and downloading full DCSW via torrent. About 5 MB/s now ;)

This is why I love the autoupdater, there are less people trying to dl the whole thing.

But when I abort autoupdater and resume it later, will it start from the beginning?

It should pick up where it left off.

This is crazy slow. It looks like it will take days at this rate. Would switching from my 30Mb connection to a dial-up help? What are the BBS numbers so I can dust of my old 3600 modem and get it faster? :joystick:

Seriously though, is there a procedure to abort the auto-update and download the torrents, or now that I've started the auto-update would that break things?

can u safely abort the auto update download the updates via torrent and use them to update ?

The torrent dl will be a complete reinstall not just an update. Which means deleting your current install.

So does that mean it will use up one of the activations for each module?

No. Uninstalling and reinstalling will not use an activation. The activation remains in your registry and will be picked up by the new install.

I ever saw auto-updater downloading like a snail. For each versions of DCS. and i was some weeks off the initial release.

Today the http/FTP is quite slow too. Torrent is accelerating, i'm at 200k/s right now.

If i get it by tonight, i will seed from my office tomorrow the whole day. you'll enjoy my 600Mb/s upload ;)

Edit : I should say 2x600Mb, cuz we have 2 fibers ISP ;)

They really should create update packages instead of full installs every new version, I highly doubt that there are really 7-8 GB worth of new files in 1.2.4 compared to 1.2.3.

Update packages would be good for everyone, less time to download, less drain on server bandwidth and so on.

I feel sad for people that only have slow DSL or something like that... :(

And what kind of pw and username do i need to use the download mirrors??

If you are being asked for user/pw then the server is at max connections and you need to try another server, or try later.
