Flight jocks... They think they know everything :)

Seriously, though, knowing how to USE an airplane does not mean you know more about it than a crew chief.

I consider myself an excellent driver, but I don't claim to know more about the car than my mechanic. Quite the opposite. I may know how to use it, but he knows how to keep it running.

Exactly true ishtmail. And this is a FLIGHT simulator. You fly in it. I know how to USE the systems to fly. The mechanic knows how the systems are BUILT so he can REPAIR them.

This is a FLIGHT simulator. Not an ENGINEERING simulator.

So yeah, that's my point. Makes a lot of sense, no?

It makes sense, but I for one would not mind hearing what the Crew chief can tell us about the planes we fly, from his perspective. It won't change the way we fly, but it might be interesting nevertheless.

That makes some sense too, no?

Yeah, background info is always good.

But do realize, what I can tell from my experience, crew chiefs/technicians often don't have the slightest clue about how to convert the systems knowledge into using it in actual flight. Not the slightest clue really. So I dunno what the crew chief has said last night, or maybe he's a really special crew chief that knows how pilots operate the systems, but I'd take it with a huge grain of salt.

:megalol:

LOL, now that is the funniest thing I've read in these forums.

Is it school holidays or something in the Netherlands?

Well Aussieboy, seeing the fact that I regularly use or have used identical or comparable systems like the ones in the A10C, I think I can say what I said.

And it's a sunday, mate.

Us mere mortals.... lol, seriously?

So... was it any good? Not many reactions. I wonder what's been said and done, would like to see a recording.

Yeah, obviously you can't learn anything more ... you got all the documents and have read them - what more is there to know, eh? :noexpression:

People have such a hard time understanding what I'm trying to say... *sigh*...

I'm only questioning the fact that a guy claiming to be a crew chief comes on here and says he'll give us lessons in using the systems in the A10C. Crew chiefs don't know how to use the systems in flight.

People on here are immediatly think of him as some kind of invulnerable god. It's blasphemy to rationally question anything obvious...

I never said I know everything.

READ people, learn to READ.

I'm more interested in a real A10C pilot to tell us about how the systems work and how they're used, using which procedures. THAT'd be cool.

But a crew chief telling us some stuff, that's nice too. Just don't see the link with flying and using the systems.

It almost comes across that you want people to think you're god and that the MC is taking attention away from you and that's you're issue.

Not saying it is m8 just kinda coming across alittle like that.

Anyway am out.

Ah, no you don't and yes Crew Chiefs are god like. Have you ever been one? Have you ever even touched a Hawg or seen one up close?

For the short amount of time I was able to attend the class it well done the presenter had a very good grasp of the material he was presenting. As with any first class there were a few snags but over all it was a good experience if you want to know more i would attend the next class if one is presented.

As I posted before the presenter states his military experience only because of its relevance to the topic. He is holding the classes only to share his passion for siming in my opinion.

CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

So.. what you're saying is that his military experience directly contributed to the class? How is this any different than any other youtube tutorial on any of the systems (Besides the fact that he touches the relevant aircraft on a regular basis)? I stayed in a motel 6 last night.. doesn't mean I'm ready to manage a hotel chain.

I get what Robert1983NL's saying.. A crew chief only has a basic knowledge of the systems enough to get what he/she needs to get his job done. He has a good knowledge of the mechanics of the aircraft. Beyond that, he's just reading T/O's and the pilot manual like all of us are. He's not going to be intimately familiar with how to set up a bombing run because he's not the one in the cockpit or attended the A-10 pilots qualification school. An electrician is going to have good knowledge of the electronics, but isn't going to know the ins and outs of the avionics.

I think it's exellent of anyone share his knowledge and time for others of this community. All creds to them.

Now, imagine he knows as much about the sim as you do, that + being a crew chief on a-10c's makes him know more then you, period.

Guys, go attend his presentations or leave, this is realy a sad sad presentation of the DCS community. A private person takes his own time to bring you a closer look of their knowledge and all you do is brag about what he knows and not.

Take it or leave.
