Stalintc Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Greetings from a very happy Huey customer! I just wanted to chime in and say a huge well done to the developers of the UN Pilot Campaign. This is probably one of the most immersive and enjoyable campaigns I have played through thus far with any DCS product. I felt a part of the story and the environment. I loved the fact that a wide range of the Hueys capabilities were explored from simple drop offs of supplies and troops to using the full armament of the Huey in a more aggressive role. The focus appeared to be on the day to day duties of a pilot, which is refreshing change and very enjoyable. And as for getting a mission with landing on the back of a warship in there... that was brilliant! I actually even don't mind not firing a shot in a mission, because it felt just... well... right!! I hope whoever was involved in making this campaign makes another one, because that was a great experience. Also a big well done to the development team of the Huey, it really is a joy to fly the Huey in a simulated environment like this! I know it is in beta and there are still a few kinks to work out like VRS for example, but the level of quality that already exists is simply mind blowing. Good work, this is keeping well on the track of the DCS standard in my opinion! I will be buying more of your modules when they come out with very little hesitation! :)
PeterP Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) Second that ! Kudos! but be aware that it still need some fixes. >>> Bugs and Problems » Mission/Campaign Issues » Mission 14 "Aurora" http://www.ex.ua/view_storage/570286691017 Hier ist Update für die DCS Version 1.2.5. Sie koennen davon mission en_UN-Pilot-14 nehmen. Here is my German > English translation of the quote from Dzen/ED_Team : Here is a update (that is planed) for the DCS Version 1.2.5. You can use the mission en_UN-Pilot-14 (for a fix). Edited June 21, 2013 by PeterP
Yurgon Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I will be buying more of your modules when they come out with very little hesitation! :) Same here! Erm... make that no hesitation on my side. :D Besides the F/A-18C, the Mi-8 is now the module I can hardly wait for. And yeah, the UN pilot campaign is really well done.
McBlemmen Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 I wouldnt know , i havent been able to land on the first mission yet xD But its a great first mission tough so i guess the others are great aswell :P having a LOT of fun with it. Good job
shagrat Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 +1 absolutely stunning campaign, the tension it builds when not knowing about ambushes coming at you or not... and a brilliant move to build a constantly used and believable area of operations. All the checkpoints in place from mission to mission. Only the "follow the leader" or you failed, is a bit tough. The AI is flying and decelarating erratically and since you can't talk to him ("one, two is blind... confirm position/heading") it is not easy to find him again, before failing the whole mission! :music_whistling: Shagrat - Flying Sims since 1984 - Win 10 | i5 10600K@4.1GHz | 64GB | GeForce RTX 3090 - Asus VG34VQL1B | TrackIR5 | Simshaker & Jetseat | VPForce Rhino Base & VIRPIL T50 CM2 Stick on 200mm curved extension | VIRPIL T50 CM2 Throttle | VPC Rotor TCS Plus/Apache64 Grip | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | WW Top Gun MIP | a hand made AHCP | 2x Elgato StreamDeck (Buttons galore)
Wichid Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Yep this campaign sets a very high bar for other modules! I'd love a Mi-8 or F-18C campaign that meets this quality, even if it doesn't involve firing a shot.... flyer49 Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I also want to say hats off to the developers. I love not only the Huey but the great UN campaign that comes with it. I do have one concern...I have flown every mission up to and including the "Teacher" mission (I think mission 6 or 7). I have flown this mission three times and can never complete it. Each time I fly the mission is takes a least two hours to get to a point that I stop the mission because I can’t get the mission to progress. All other missions have been approximately one and a half hour long so it leads me to believe that they're is a problem (most likely with me). I get to the LZ and clear it of insurgents but that’s as far as the missions gets for me. The Blackhawk just continue to orbit and nothing further happens. It’s clear that I’m not doing something that triggers a return to base or further progress in the mission. Can you please give me a hint as to what I need to do to complete this great mission. I guess at the very least I’m gaining flight time…thanks in advance for your help. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 229th battalion, 1st Cavalry
SUBS17 Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 I flew the first mission yesterday but found that you've placed a story in the mission and objective. What it should be is you have the story separate from the mission and objective statements. Think SMEAC S.M.E.A.C S.M.E.A.C. is the procedure for a leader briefing his team about the situation, mission and how they are going to execute the mission. Situation, give a basic account of your current situation. Mission, give a one-line statement of the objective of the mission (Then repeat the statement). Execution, this is basically your plan for the mission which you explain in as much detail as possible to the team, you could use a visual aid such as a diagram . Any Questions, simple enough, ask your team if they have any questions, but watch your time. Check Understanding, basically question your team on the plan, who is the 2nd IC or safety (if you have allocated one) the limitations and the time restrictions. Use poise and pounce techniques like “How long do we have to complete the mission…. Mr Bean?” Actual pilots briefings are slightly different but the format is similar. The other problem is the map pictures are quite small so perhaps having a PDF with the NAV charts for each mission would be a good idea to help us see ground features that we can relate to the map. The voice comments was good. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
PeterP Posted July 5, 2013 Posted July 5, 2013 Here is a idea for the devs and mission makers: Try to recreate the tension and storyline of the UN campaign but add another feature in it. It goes like this: The mission is not always depending on the combat success - some missions let you choose to head in a total another direction to have a tree structure that let you even go back on another missions - so you have a lit of tasks that you choose yourself in which order to solve them. ... like: You get a triggered question to head back to your frap or you are a daredevil and decide to head to another place/direction - if you choose the later you reach a trigger-zone and the mission ends . Than the next mission will be absulute different depending on your decision which way you have choose. I hope you get the idea and how it would make the re-playability even more interesting. To be honest: I didn't played around much with the Mission editor for some time - so I really don't know if it is practical.
SUBS17 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 That would work, the campaign can do that if the person who created it put those triggers in there. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
ALDEGA Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 You get a triggered question to head back to your frap or you are a daredevil and decide to head to another place/directionI believe that's called insubordination :D

ALDEGA Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I can’t get the mission to progress.Try the updated campaign files: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=106482
flyer49 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Thanks...just inserted into campaign...Going to try it now. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 229th battalion, 1st Cavalry
SUBS17 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 I believe that's called insubordination :D Perhaps a better example is a mission where you get the opportunity to do a side mission(fast ball) while in the process of doing a mission. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
jdkirk904 Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Maybe someone can help me get past mission three. I wait until I get the go ahead to take off, I take off and never do get visual on the Hinds, but turn to the correct heading and accelerate but always fail because the Hinds get more than 1 KM away. Where the hell do the Hinds go if not towards way point 1? Kirk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
shagrat Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 get into the air and turn 180°. The Hinds launch from the pad behind you. so you wait until they take off and head NNW... that worked for me first time. SUBS17 Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Flew the Hind mission today just a few ideas: 1/ use a 3d model for the reporter and ideally you want it to also be in the backseat during the flight. 2/ There are some civilian 3d models in DCS particularly in the airshow crowd. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
