PondLife Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 There's probably no simple answer to this is an understatement. A few tips would be gratefully appreciated: I'm into around mission 8 in the A10C campaign and things have moved up a notch as far as threats are concerned. My old tactic of staying above the AAA and low level threats and using GBU's no longer works as I'm getting frequently hit by more advanced systems above 10,000 feet. I'm using the semi automated mode for countermeasures and jamming. Is there a chart or doc that gives safe height and range for Russian SAM's? Is there a way to pre program and load the countermeasures setup before a mission ?(having to do it in mission is a pain) Is there a way to stop your wingman being dumb and taking out threats at a safer range when ordered to "at my SPI with Maverick" usually results in him diving almost vertically on the threat and getting taken out. My basic problem is trying to penetrate a heavily defended area. Going in low usually results in me being taken out by AAA or low level sams, going in high with GBU's or Mavs is equally ineffective as I'm finding the mav max range is well withing range of the SAM's.
ED Team NineLine Posted September 3, 2013 ED Team Posted September 3, 2013 Is there SEAD flight to request in that mission? Been too long since I played it :) Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
HugePanic Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 If you stay above 13000ft, you should avoid some more defense types. There are several sources for data, here is something I have copied together:http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=109015
PondLife Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 Is there SEAD flight to request in that mission? Been too long since I played it :) I think so, but every time I select on the "other" comms link and the the SEAD flight, nothing appears to happen.
joey45 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 If you are using realistic comms then make sure you are on the right frequency and using the right radio. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Foss Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 From my knowledge (played that campaign twice) 75% of the missions there, were like: Start -> Orbit and wait for AI flights to be on station ->F10 call in Sead and CAP flights -> F10call in CAS Choppers after Sams and Air Threats are gone -> Kill Armored Units with own A10s and let the F10 own Tanks Push forward to take their Goals (winchester , utah and the like they are called) Specs: System: Asus Z170-E, I7 6700K, 16GB DDR4, Asus GTX1070 8GB, 1TB M2 SSD + 2x 250GB SSD,TrackIR, TM Warthog, Saitek Rudder Modules: A-10C, KA-50, Mi-8, UH-1H, FC3, F5E, M2000, AJS37, AV8b, F18C

Foss Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 there are no further options, if you press maybe F10->F3 : SEAD F16 , all that is happening is a radio call like "(flight name) Pushing from Waypoint 2" means they re leaving their orbit pattern and start to engage. Listen closely to the radio. 159th_Viper Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 There is no safe height in the A-10. You are SAM-food: Keep that in mind and tailor your flight accordingly. GC1993 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 (edited) Are you following your waypoints correctly to the AO? The F10 comms aren't immediately available, they're usually triggered when you're nearer all the action but it could also be that you have to pass a waypoint for them to become available. As someone else said above, don't just call in all your support at once, or else things like the AH-64s will get splashed by SA-9s and AAA before they can even get started. Get rid of any nasty SAMs and bandits patrolling first with the dedicated assets, then call in your CAS and get your wingman nice and active to spread the workload. Edited September 4, 2013 by GC1993
dumgrunt Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Maybe consider a low low low mission profile? If sa-11's are giving you a headache, search for, mark point, then do a pop up attack on the search radar. Same applies for any tungs in vicinity of the target area. If its a CAS mission in the hammer campaign you will have a hard time unless you sanitize the area of air defences but. Use stand off weapons to destroy air defence then save bombs and the the gun for afvs. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Evil.Bonsai Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 I tried the mission last night, the SEAD does engage, but I didnt get a confirmation message that they were.... Thinking it may have been a quirk of an old mission, I opened push8-1, saved it, then added a new flight of F16A SEAD. Even they weren't saying anything.
ED Team NineLine Posted September 4, 2013 ED Team Posted September 4, 2013 Have to look closer and see if it needs to be reported, not sure if they update the campaign at all over time... quyes Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 (edited) The F10 commands are scripted actions. These don't use the radios to send the commands. However, AI aircraft do broadcast certain things over the radio on the guard frequency for players to hear as they progress through their mission/flight plan. I check Push 8-1 and the AI frequency is 124.00. Make sure that you're tuned into this frequency and you should hear the various AI aircraft around you doing their thing. EDIT: Updated frequency.
