Hello

I thougt it will be good to have a thread where you can ask questions and get a respond without need to make a new whole thread :)

So i will start with a few questions:

1. How do I turn on interior lightning

2. I can use rockets and the other pods exept the ones you can have on KA 50 and Su 25(forgot the name) Can someone teach me how? :D

I will try to answer as many questions as I can :) I hope many will find this thread usefull

Do you mean the UPK-23-250 pods? If yes, you use them the same way you use rockets, only you need to put the UPK-PKT-RS selector to the upper (UPK) position.

You can use the instrument backlighting. It is switched on by at least four rheostats, but unfortunately only one of the works right now (same as it is in the Huey).

I am not at my DCS PC, but you should be able to find the on the overhead panel. They are grouped in pairs of two, and are rather big, compared to the rest of the knobs in there.

I have some questions too:

1. Is there an a keyboard button to lower/raise the vertical angle of the PKV aiming sight?

2. Is there a keyboard button to change the pod selection on the navigator wepaons control panel?

3. What exactly does "PUV arming" do?

And please: give the wheel break an axis control.

Can I already use the R-863 preset channels? Where can I find the file to enter my own radio frequency presets? After a quick scan in Cockpit\scripts I couldn´t find anything.

However, if you choose to transmit on preset frequencies (tiny panel just above R-863 freq selector, selector is above pilot's head) you won't be heard on the frequency that you've set manually so the presets must be defined somewhere.

1. I don't think they have implanted it yet but i could be wrong.

2. Should be. Will find it when i get home.

3. Will look in to it.

I will try to confirm this when i get home because I am not 100% sure.

The real thing doesn't have a wheel brake axis so I doubt the sim will get one. Assigning a button on the cyclic I think is the more realistic thing to do.

I'm not sure about that. This video of a Mi-8MT clearly has one but there is no such handle in-game.

2: got them: "." and ";". they are in the training lesson

3: still not found; but perhaps not implemented yet. lets hope that the final release will offer a keyboard shortcut for every switch/lever/button in the game.

Well, I haven't found it anywhere - but maybe it is also appropriate to ask the following questions here:

1. Is there a plan to show the crew in the cockpit? Or is it possible to somehow enable it (rshift+p doesn't work)?

2. Is there any good tutorial on mastering the doppler navigation? Or how do you navigate in the Mi-8? (So far I am only using map and Eye Mk1 navigation :)

Thanks for answers.

1 - no, likely to be implemented later on.

2 - Wait for the English manual! The included Mi-17 manual doesn't really cover this subject.

It does actually. But it isn't presented in a easy to follow, tutorial-like way. I dont have have the manual at hand right now but i think it is like this:

Top number - Deviation from track (km)

Middle number - Path distance (km)

Bottom number - Desired true heading (map angle)

So, if you want to go 40 km to the east you enter the following:

Leave track deviation at 0

Set distance to -40 (left button)

Set angle to heading ~84 degrees

Start coordinate calculation (right bottom buttom)

Head east and watch the distance counter count down to 0. Watch deviation to se if you are slipping, and adjust accordingly.

This is how I understand it works, and it seems to be this way in-game, but please correct me if I'm wrong

Allright, nice findings! Will try ASAP.

But I mean of course that the manual will cover this subject in a more comprehensive way.

Regarding the wheel brakes...

The pilot's cyclic has a brake handle, and it operates just like a bicycle brake would, except it's pneumatically boosted. It would be nice if there was an axis for it in addition to a simple keypress, since in reality you don't have to have it on or off, you can add just a tiny bit of brake pressure or a whole lot, depending n the circumstances and needs at the time.

The way I taxi...I'm okay with full on and full off with a keypress. ;)

HI,

regarding doppler, I found this very useful (document is in english)

Mentioned in this post

Still need to try this though,

I must say that it works great, however we need at least some AI to operate it, because it is hard to pilot the helicopter and set the doppler system when passing a waypoint, as it needs a precise timing.

Or even better: Multiplayer shared cockpit... :music_whistling:

I hope they will implant that soon in both huey and Mi 8 :D :pilotfly:
