After a few days now training myself to mastering the huey, hover, flight transistions, weapons etc i got back to the shark and wow...

How much easier it is for me to fly the shark now, it feels like a fixed wing aircraft compared to the huey, i had some problems with the hover check in the shark before, but no i do it with no hands on my joystick my coffee is in my right hand now :smilewink: the trim system in the shark is just so much easier for me now i dont use auto hover anymore there is no need any longer.

Anyone else have similar experience?

Now im off testing the mi8, having a realy realy good times in the helicopters, so much fun just roaming around the airport.

It does indeed feel easier to fly after flying the Huey, but those rotors on the Blackshark are way easier to tear off because of the Huey's rugged rotors.

If you want to talk to anyone about anything personal, send it to their PM box. Interpersonal drama and ad hominem rebuttal are things that do not belong on a thread viewed by the public.

One thing i have to point out... naming a thread.. "OK, so" is as useful as tits on a bull.

in BS1 you could just click the trimmer no problem.....in BS2 the trimmer is accounting for the 20% authorization and if you dont trim before moving the stick, it will over trim by 20%.....I believe this is the over trimming that Karabiatos is speaking of....no longer is it good to click the trimmer....BS1 didnt do this

It only takes two things to fly, Airspeed and Money.

Have you tried go to options and then special, and then tick the box that says *central position trimmer mode*.

I find this option much more smooth, now you have to center your stick instead of letting go in 2sec.

thank you davis, it is indeed what i am talking about, the combination of the virtual stick and auto pilots is causing it to over trim, the worst thing is, is when you move your stick slightly forward and instead of pitching down the helicopter pitches up.

even if you return your stick to zero, before the trim kicks in, or if you use central trimmer, this will happen.

the best example is, if you trim at 10 degrees pitch down, youll find your self at 15 or 20 degrees pitch down, same happens with banking.

you can no longer fly the BS2 by click spamming the trim button, because youll soon find your self upside down.

That's the exact behaviour I was trying to find explained in this thread:

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=114496

But it was exactly like this in BS1 as well. While the behaviour is somewhat strange it seems to be perfectly valid and you are supposed to hit the trimmer before you pitch and release it when you're done. This way you eliminate this jump.

yes this is how i do it, every time i move the stick i hit the trimmer button before i move the stick and release it when im in the new postion i want to be. its very smooth transistions i never get any jumps.

the hold, maneuver, then release is the proper way I believe.....I fly like this now also.....But I will confirm that BS1 was not like this and you could in fact just push the stick forward, click the trimmer, then release the stick in accordance with the centering system and fly on.....now the trimmer system is actually trimming the aircraft for where it would be if you were not fighting the AP 20%....so you push the stick a desired amount, hit the trimmer, the airframe goes further then the position then you where hoping....

....I wonder what the real BS is like.....I dont mind the new way....but it was easier to fly in BS1 with the clicky clicky spam trimmer method....

I have no idea how you got an impression that it wasn't like that in BS1. It definitely was.

Even now i have 1.0.1c installed due to the training missions and it's exactly the same as in BS2. I even asked about this exact behaviour back in 2009 when only BS1 was released:

I don't see any change in this regard between BS1 and BS2.

it is different in BS1, you can put the stick where you want press the trim button and it will stay like that, ive tested it, since i still have BS1 installed.

and dont Russian pilots fly helicopters by click spamming the trim button?

i can provide a track from BS1, youll see that it is clearly different, its most obvious when you pitch, put it at 10 degrees, press trim and the BS1 will stay at 10 degrees pitch the BS2 will go to 15 or 20.

I've been messing around with ArmA 3, 1st the Alpha, then the Beta, then final release. I like their arcade-like helicopters, especially what they call, the "Little Bird", the armament equipped 'copter:

https://www.google.com/search?q=AH-9&client=firefox-a&hs=UhH&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=fR1IUoDiFvHJ4APSqICQAw&ved=0CAkQ_AUoAQ&biw=1536&bih=654&dpr=1.25#q=little+bird+helicopter&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&tbm=isch

Me, too, coming back to the Huey and Black Shark after flying the Little Bird in ArmA 3, I found the DCS helicopters to be so much more sluggish and I find hovering both, easier.

I most likely will not purchase anything more from DCS until the Hornet is offered, maybe the FW-190. To date, I have everything DCS offers, except the Mi-8.

There is a 'Nam era Huey on display outside the American Legion Lodge in Milford, PA. Having immersed myself with the DCS Huey, I was better equipped to examine the helicopter on display, there. Theirs was originally used for "Dust Off" medical evacs. It is Google'able, as this example shows:

Agreed with opening post, after flying the huey and to a lesser extent the Mi-8 the Kamov is a breeze to fly. I am unfortunately unable to use my weapons because of the crazy Shkval effect from 1.26;)

Same here.

Flying the Huey and Mi-8 made me appreciate how incredible the Ka-50 actually is.

1.)Post a track to see which switch settings taken effect. For example route mode on can cause that behaviour.

2.) your trimming isfactually incorrect. You have to push the trim button down, correct your course (or what ever you want to correct) and then release the trim button and not correct the course and then press trim switch shortly and release.

Doesn't sound like push-correct-release to me.

I kinda like the trim button spam mentality, so I hope this gets fixed. I'm kinda used to it now though. I think I sometimes subconsciously immediately counteract the overtrim and retrim.

thank you einar-st. I actually looked for this vid a yesterday in the heat of the debate and could not find it, so i gave up. Also, you are correct, this vid clearly shows that in the "REAL" ka-50 you can just click the trimmer.

I gave up on this thread after not finding the vid because I was not going to try and win a argument over one subject that got settled back in 2008 (the trim method) and the other that clearly exists in game (overtrimming...its not a debate...it happens...whether it should is still up for debate).

It only takes two things to fly, Airspeed and Money.

Thanks for the video. I agree that the Ka-50 overtrims. I had always believed this was a result of the AP fighting the pilot input. Say if you give it forward cyclic, the AP will give a % of backward cyclic (up to 20%). When you press the trimmer, the AP input immediately stops, which is what would cause the forward overtrim.

It is interesting to note that in the video the flight doesn't seem to be overly smooth there is quite a bit of jerking around.
