Surely people are allowed to say no and state their reasons, otherwise why even start a poll?

What I have heard and read is that space in the cockpit was tight even for guys that are about 5 foot 6 (which is the opposite of "tall" really). Also in WWII the seatbelts were tightened by the crew chief before take off, most likely to the point of being "pretty damn" tight as far as I know. I dont see the possibility for a WWII era Mustang pilot to leisurly hang his arm out the pit during taxi.

The guy in that picture might be using a different, more modern harness arrangement than a pilot in WWII. Who knows if he was doing or going to do any aerobatics that day.

Try looking over your shoulder whithout moving your upper body. Personally I think that Headtracking ingame makes this a lot easier than it most likely was in the real thing. Thank god! :D

Someone with their head screwed on

Oh and to answer an earlier point im 5ft 8 and I had a 6ft guy with us, still struggling to actually see anything useful out of the front from a strapped in position.

Personally I think the OP just struggles taxi'ing and wants an easy solution.

You seem to be the only one who thinks this is incorrect...

Off course you can say no, and if I didn't want that, I could have had excluded the no option, but please do substantiate the arguments with logic and contemporary facts without keeping on grinding down with same rhetorics that skip out of the main context by continually shifting the plot back to WWII!

First was the major question if it's possible to tilt your head out of an open canopy:

FACT is YES - you can lean your head out, and also you can easily hang your arm out the pit during taxi if you are unstrapped or using a modern harness, which is advisable under the modern security policies.

Another fact is: when you're finished with taxiing before take off, these gained 20cm by leaning your head out enhance your sight to the extent that you can see the end of the runway. If you're on some remote runway up there on some lonely mountain without an ATC and nobody to double check the runway for you, is this sight gained advantage so horrible, that must be so fanatically sabotaged!

So if we were about to make a movie on WWII, all good information from the no sayers are legitim. But we are not flying here in the mid 40's era, as the scenery outside the DCS pit is rubbing the clear fact under your nose, that we are here in the 21 century, and that makes all those arguments IRRELEVANT! So it's ok with no, but not with brain wash! And in case DCS does make the TrackIR enhancement; it's not the end of the world - just keep your canopy closed, if you fear losing your head out if tilted...

End of the discussion

Just before you end the discussion, can I show you this:

This guy isn't stuck in the 1940's, yet he never leans fully out of the cockpit. Just saying. :)

Gotta love when a person rants and then declares the conversation over. If you create a poll I think you should be prepared to accept the results even if they don't agree with your thoughts. Bolding your sentences does not make the argument any more valid.

Helpful hint: Check the runway before you park on it.

I will say I did like in CloD that you could lean out a little farther with the cockpit open, though as stated above, I dont think its enough to help you taxi, the tutorials in DCS pretty much explain what you need to do there....

To do it right, they may need to work on the pilot model...

The duty of a moderator is to remain unbiased and respect the wishes of the Users. It's one thing if members mock another. But when you, the Moderator "dogs me out" of my own Poll, (in other words, sets me a muzzle) you also dogged out with me 35% of Yes sayers.

Since you were "humorously" in breach of the code of conduct by sarcastically disclosing my "alleged" identity, I'll simply retaliate by unveiling the truth about the Star Wars Trilogy

So, simply because he is a Moderator he is not allowed to share his opinion on the subject at hand?! You must be joking.

Sharing an opinion on the subject is one thing, comparing a member's intellect to a dog is blatantly an insult: it's for e.g like saying to you:

"go and change your napkin you thumb sucker".

His sarcasm was appropriately dealt with its peers...

The priority task of a moderator is to monitor all forms of insulting misbehavior and undertake appropriate measures against. Read the DCS contract terms when you've signed your membership.

haha so basically what your saying is that you have problems with it and need it changed?

Just accept it mate that even with modern harness's (Bear in mind I have tried 3 different mustangs with modern kit as they are airworthy examples!) you cant see diddley squat out of the front of the stang and I can actually look down the nose of my stand in DCS and see down the front

So the really REALLY funny thing about your silly rant is that you can actually do what you are whining about anyway....
