My friend has been having repeated crash issues since 1.2.7. The game freezes, screen goes black and sound bugs out for a few seconds and then the game comes back. This occurs at random times. Sometimes it also causes mic issues in Teamspeak 3. As the game does not crash fully, we have not been able to get a crash log. However he had a serious crash today and the log and DMP are included. He would love to find a solution, as we have tried everything - reinstalling C++, DX9c, a full reinstall of DCS itself, and checked CPU/GPU temps. Poor guy is at the end of his tether

Specs = I5 3570K, 8GB 1600MHZ RAM, GTX660Ti 2GB, Win7.

is he running a 64bit version of windows 7 ?

also when he gets the crash the logs from C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\DCS\Logs would be helpful to see

Yes, he is running 64 bit windows, but unfortunately the crashes don't leave logs, as they are not "full" crashes. The only log since 1.2.7 is in the hyperlink above.

Yes, Drivers are up to date (332.21) and he has reinstalled DX9, and tried the repair multiple times.

Also want to ask- was this updated from 127 or a clean install?

Was initially an update from 1.2.6, then a clean install of 1.2.7. Even clearing saved games/DCS did nothing.

If you would upload the files using the DCS provided software more people would take a gander for you. Most do not want to add a program to their systems that will not be used to assist a potential one time OP.

Yes and it was an issue earlier with on board sound, but that was as stated way back in the Beta stage of the sim.

Forum upload system states that the files are invalid - would have used it if possible.

We figured as such, but we would love to find out why.

Thank you all for helping out - if we get to the bottom of this or not, both my friend and I are grateful for the help!:smilewink:

This has not been solved with Mondays patch - and I have been informed that it happened occasionally when flare/chaff was launched in 1.2.6. (but not in 1.2.7)

If anything this is worse in the current build, occurs much more often. It is for all intents and purposes, unplayable. Same thing happens - screen blacks out, sound continues although periodically cuts out, and the game then returns to normal.

Have tried absolutely everything now. Reinstalled DCS, Visual C++, DirectX, Audio drivers, Graphics drivers, Run as admin, turned off anti-virus. And it leaves no crash log as DCS does not "crash" so to speak.

Is this just in MP?

I've been getting the same issues with screen freezes since 1.2.7

I'm going to try 314.22 nvidia drivers, try revert see how you go.

While I made this thread for my friend, since the 334.89 Nvidia drivers this has been happening to me too. So yes, it seems to be driver related, cheers for the suggestion.

EDIT: His crashing issue is now massively reduced - is playable again with 334.89. I gained the issue with those drivers so reverted back to 332.21 and all seems fine. First driver Issue I have ever had with an Nvidia GPU....

Just put the nVidia Driver DLL in the /DCS World/Bin/ Folder.

No need to completely revert or install,

Just download, extract to it's temp location (usually something like C:\nVidia\), copy DLL to DCS's /BIN/ Folder.

I dont know the exact DLL for nVidia, as I use AMD,

I Run 14.1 on my System and DCS Uses the 13.9 DLLs

I had simmilar problems, my order was like this: first installed FC1, FC2, activated them and then installed DSCWorld and all the planes....

uninstalled everything, installed FC1, FC2, DCSWorld, modules, activate them....since then it works like charm.

if you're Running as Administrator, everything associated with the sim needs to be RaA as well (for instance, if you use a joystick/ HOTAS button for your TeamSpeak, your TeamSpeak needs to be RaS if running the sim RaS)... perhaps also run MemTest to check your RAM.

Thanks for the suggestion, but we appear to have solved the issue by reverting Nvidia drivers. However is it possible that the newer drivers were causing memory access errors?
