  3. Hi felixx75, if it's not too late, suggest you take up Rolds on his offer of a bet. I've copies of pilot's notes for three variants of the Mosquito, including our FB VI, and they all clearly state one quarter throttle. Publication dates range from Aug 43 to Jan 50. See attached excerpt from the Jan 50 notes for the FB6. If when Rolds' says "someone misinterpreted it" he means the devs, seems to me they've got it right. If he means the pilot's notes themselves are wrong, I'd suggest the odds of an error there persisting over seven years seems pretty remote. Particularly when the horn in question is so aggravating.
  4. Marianas ww2 map isn't optimized as the modern one, at least for VR it's very heavy even for my 9800x3d cpu with 4090. I quit flying it until ED updates the textures...
  5. True. Somtimes, at least. But he will find what he is looking for...
  6. As far as that is concerned, you'll use so much salt that you'll give yourself hypertension.
  7. You can certainly look for sources like reddit...there is much to be found over there. But take everything you read and/or see over there with a grain of salt...
  8. Ok well, I am trying to do the advanced ILS landing mission and the first problem is that it was set up to automatically switch to the ILS I need. I fly to wp1 where it automatically switches to the ILS for Lochini. In a combat mission I would have to do that manually, but how? The other airfields are too close to make an educated guess and neither the F10 GPS map now the ruler would be available IRL. Then once I reach the ILS approach fix it automatically updates me to the ILS with the landing coordinates. So far so good, but if I don't manage to land and have to go around, the assigned heading notch continues to point the same direction, so I can no longer use that to locate the airfield either. I don't think these are correct. I am currently trying to practice at Tiblisi-Lochini and there is no 308 course entry for any of the ILS frequencies. There is a bunch of 30x but none of them come after the 083 one either.
  9. Slowly stopping the engine at fuel cutoff just isn't a thing with pressure carburetors. When I worked on aircraft with pressure carbs, the cutoff of fuel was definitely under 2 seconds. When going to cutoff, the engine will momentarily lean out causing a quick audibly perceptible rise in RPM and this doesn't take very long. Once the fuel is no longer being supplied by the pressure carb, the engine should coast to a full stop in about 5-7 seconds. I haven't tested the shutdown timing myself but I will on my next flight. Here is a video from the cockpit showing the cutoff procedure. Probably not a -1D but it's a R-2800 nevertheless. Regards, John
  10. If it's not going to be a bootable drive, why would you clone instead of just a file copy? Why? Software only cares about the correct path/drive. Cheers!
  11. Can you point me in the direction where you found this info from? Id like to read into this a bit further...
  12. Perhaps you are right and I am really misjudging the timelines there. No idea how far away a DCS 3.0 really is.
  13. @NineLine Would have more information but if nothing changes the module will stop working after 2.9 so this means we'll either need to maintain an old DCS 2.9 along side our hardrives, ED and RB have to come to an agrement, or ED needs to step in and get replacement modules going. I know that ED has given some people refunds for the Strike Eagle it was for in store credits.
  14. It isn't actually made by Razbam. It was just licensed/published through Razbam. It's still receiving updates, and is made by more or less the same team that makes to Kola map, while now licensed/published through ORBX. Cheers!
  15. So, after 9+ pages of discussion...
  16. Yup, I’ve done a few dogfights in an F-5 and F-4 against a random skill-level MiG-21 and I got them easily - and I’m by no means an ace dogfighter.
  17. It's been quite some time since there has been any mention of the issue of encrypting modules (re-mastered F-5E) making it impossible to use the Model Viewer in the process of making skins. If someone doesn't know what I'm talking about there is a long thread here: @NineLine your last reply was on April 14: My latest request for any news was on July 6: Please let us know that this issue has (hopefully) not been forgotten. Is there anyone working on a solution?

  19. If true this is sad. Im a member of a virtual squad flying DCS since LOMAC times, most of us had 25 years flying this simulator and never have seen the reaction most of us are having. More than half of us are not buying anything else, part are just not flying anymore or moving to the "never said the name" simulator. People remaining still enjoy flying DCS together but loosing AGAIN valued modules that we fly on a daily basis is killing us as a Squad. Most people are not reading the forums here or playing MP, imagine when suddenly they lost 4 modules in a row. The magnitude of this cant be ignored. Someone need to do something.
  20. Any one have these rubber switch covers for the Wworion 2, the two square toggle switches, (1 on the throttle base and 1 on the left F-15EX handle) are hard on the fingers. I need to know if there's a certain size I should be looking for? Thanks TC
  21. Just realised another thing, the drive I want to clone onto new drive is MBR partition table. No biggie as its not going to be a bootable drive and its not more than 2TB. If I were to switch to GPT then I would have to reinstall the other software.
  22. It's why I added the caveat this was going from my own experiences stateside. There's a lot of variables at play with it and it's a truly daunting task in this day and age. It's a non-starter frankly. That is the first time I've heard of this, where'd you find that?
  23. Whoever is doing the EA guide for the Apache deserves a raise and some recognition. The manual has been by far the best one of all the ED manuals I've read and the new updates covering George and helicopter flight dynamics are awesome. Hopefully this sets a new standard for ED manuals going forward and that the guides for existing modules get updated to match the level of quality the Apache guide brings.

  24. The section covering George the CP/G has been completely overhauled and is really well-done. Reading this section is worth the effort while waiting for a video. I've found George's new features and capabilities pretty cool so far and not terribly difficult to understand. Just treat him like another sensor/weapon that has some semi-autonomy and he works like a champ.
  25. Exactly. They can't sell the Hind, Hip, and Black Shark, to Russian customers anymore. They're having some kind of conflict with Boeing. Why should I invest my money, in a company who is having licensing problems, in regards to the modules they sell? My last DCS related purchase was the F-4, on the day it released. I do not feel comfortable making any purchases from you guys. Sorry.
  26. I am fairly sure nobody does. In all fairness, I don't envy the stalwart community managers who kind of have to read it - most of it is neither overly interesting nor entertaining. If any actual new or pressing points get communicated on in a short summary, perhaps with a general statement about how restless, exactly, the natives are getting, we should consider ourselves lucky.
  27. One more picture from a different angle and I'm done! Honestly it's difficult to tell whether this is a simulation or real life.
