What capabilities should we expect from the F-104?
Tengah replied to Hatman335's topic in DCS: F-104
The EEL from the F.1a through to the F6 enjoyed the ability to AAR, not commonly used on the earlier versions (F.1a to F.3 and T.4). The F.2's and F.2a's were mainly RAF Germany aircraft, and as with the Buccaneers AAR was considered surplus to requirement due to the short durations of flight to targets. The UK based Lightnings did use AAR via H.P. Victors, VC-10K's, etc. The EEL was only limited in time aloft by engine oil capacity and pilot fatigue. There were many 4 hour plus sorties flown by RAF lightnings... The aircraft would be a superb model for DCS despite its challenges. The cockpit is an ergonomic nightmare, and it would certainly be a high workload environment for anyone trying to fly it while staying ahead of the performance envelope. However, unfortunately, it would only appeal to a niche market within the DCS user base. Better chance as a free Mod or perhaps donation based ala Split Air's offerings. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I agree that the overall aesthetics leave something to be desired, especially the F.6... The T.5, in my humble opinion, was the more attractive variant. -

"Time since Flag" - I want to shoot the ME
Fenix Mueneren replied to Fenix Mueneren's topic in Mission Editor
just tried it.... in fact I was working on a secondary sequence that comes up when you attack another place. That one is behaving (for the moment) but the first one... still plays naughty with the "time since flag". I'm trying different stuffs...- 3 replies

"Time since Flag" - I want to shoot the ME

there shouldn't be "or" in the 3rd trigger, right? Try to remove "or", and just take the default which is "and"- 3 replies

I know it would be tough to acomplish, but landing heli this big, or worse hover it somewhere with two wheels on ground cannot be done without crewchief telling you if you are in place or not (I know how the AI can know that you want to touch the rear wheels on that specific cliff ?) well thats a challenge, i guess some AI crew chief with mods maybe ? like terain landing obstacles mode, then two wheel ops mod ? I know friends and multicrew solve this easy, well take the challenge or not. But about the multicrew chief: can we have at least have some keybind for crew chief lie down on ramp and see whats under the heli ? That would help the imersion. It's nice to see opened ramp but you wont help like that. Thank's! BTW A/A refuel option would be cool tho. and please how can I fly it without TCN, CRS asset or VOR/ILS functioning? those are features that should be in first release ...

"Time since Flag" - I want to shoot the ME
Fenix Mueneren replied to Fenix Mueneren's topic in Mission Editor
Yes I know there's a "Or Time more". It was for initial testing of the sequencing. however... it only came into play if I made no previous mention of flag 101 in the triggers. The final mission won't have that obviously. Can this be the problem?- 3 replies

Ground Unit Request: Modern search lights
Silver_Dragon replied to Tom P's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Has none "military" seachlights units or equipment after the WW2, many of that units was disbanded after WW2 with the radar. Actualy has only "comercial" Stoplights, reconverted to drone hunting... -
yeah its been a pain for sure. Fix will be nice.

Yay! I've not used it much because of the not being able to laze moving targets.

I'm trying to sequence some events. Explosions mainly. And I'm trying also to do it as vanilla as possible (no MIST; no MOOSE) After a building goes of I want the fireworks to begin. So I tied the building going off to "Flag 100 ON" ; and "Time since Flag" used to trigger the sequence (from 3 seconds since flag; and more events with more explosions up to second 14) HOWEVER... The explosion sequence goes of (perfectly I might add) but at mission time 3 seconds. Not AFTER the building explosion. I tried initializing the flags to 0; or false, not initializing, using a "chain of flags"; building blows, sets flag 100; witch sets flag 101; with is the "time since flag" (for some reason I found that suggestion) Nothing seems to work properly and the sequence goes off like the flag is set at mission start, and not at "building explosion" Here are some screencaps: (on this stage, I was not initializing the relevant flags...) nullnullnull Any help with this? What Am I doing wrong? I'm at my wits end Kind Regards!

you can also try other way. 1 you have a good spatial awareness that can imagenate the direction of the carrier runway and fly and align towards it, which could be very confusing sometimes. 2 you fly a circle around the carrier and align to the back, which is very unreliable because you don't know how much turn is right to maintain a circle 3 you f10

Hello, I would like to share my experience on how to align to the correct heading to the back of the carrier in f14's case 3. Before contacting the carrier, make sure you switch on all the things right(TACAN, ICLS, Data Link, Radio, etc....). After you contact the carrier and receiving its "final bearing" and turning the course nob to its direction in HSI, Here is how to align to the back of carrier: 1. If the given final bearing is (let's say 57 degrees), then you should steer your aircraft's heading to the opposite side of that direction (+180, 237 degrees),which is the "exact opposite side of the of outer course needle, the side without the arrow", and fly towards it. 2. If nothing goes wrong, you will see that the direct "direction indicating small triangle"(the outer most small one), is slowing and graduately moving towards the outer course needle(from either left or right), meaning you are aligning. 3. After the triangle and the outer course needle is getting fairly close or overlapping, the inner needle will start to approach to the center, meaning you are getting very close to the course, it could be the time when you should begin steering the nose back to the course arrow direction. 4. However, there could be times when you will find that the outer triangle will get really slow aligning to the outer course arrow when getting close, that is the time your should steer BACK left or right to the course direction and start aligning, 5. If i did not get it wrong, "the outer course arrow is the course direction of your aircraft" and the "inner one is the course of the carrier" 6. If you are getting aligned closer(triangle and arrow are approaching) and start steering the aircraft to the side where the inner arrow rest on(either left or right), the course will align more precisely and faster, which is when you steer to the side the inner needle rest on (like 90 degrees left or right to the outer arrow) . Many Tomcatters do know how to do approach in case 3 either manual or ACLS through Youtube tutorial, but they find it struggling to establish the correct heading to the back of the carrier, the HSI symbology of the cat is not so easily understandable to that of the hornet. nullThat's all I got, you would need more experience and improvise to do this thing, my explanation is pretty unflexible f14 case3 heading .trk

I've noticed that the other Nimitz class carriers technically had been provided for and that Marshal can already say they respective callsigns. Provided its only a matter of updating liveries (with CVN numbers), unit type name and radio ATC options, could we please also add CVN-68 Nimitz (Old Salt), CVN-69 Eisenhower (Ike), CVN-70 Vinson (Gold Eagle), CVN-76 Reagan (Freedom) and CVN-77 Bush (Avenger)? Please

For some reason it’s not showing for me, but I’m glad someone is making this. Are you using the Currenthill Mi-28? If yes, then if you wait for the next update, you can use the asset in the game. I put the folder in Saved Games/Aircraft, but it didn’t show up, so maybe there’s a problem somewhere. I have the Ka-50.
