shastasm Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Hello everyone. I will be building a new rig and plan on transferring the existing SSD to the new rig with DCS on it. I will also copy all my save game files. Should I anticipate an issue making DCS work with this process, or should I just install it fresh after my build. This fresh approach seams unnecessary and will eat up my data. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks 2020 Rig Chasse: bequiet! Gruman Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Well, now its probably to late, but what were your issues? Copy Paste. Fix your Registry. Run a repair on the new directory via updater.exe or SkaZilla's Updater Tool, fix all of your shortcuts and you should be back up... Ala12Rv-Tundra Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 I recently format my OS SSD and reinstall DCS. I found out Windows changed my USB devices ID (GUID), so despite saving my profiles, I have to bind them all back from scratch. draconus Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 despite saving my profiles, I have to bind them all back from scratch. You can load them one by one for every module from the copy. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Art-J Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 ^ I can confirm. Takes quite a few minutes to do so (you've got to load every single .diff.lua file one by one), but it's still faster than re-assigning everything from scratch. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
WelshZeCorgi Posted October 14, 2020 Posted October 14, 2020 I've done this and it sort of works. There are some problems with the window's registry not matching up and that causes some problems like updates and repair not working.
