Hi all :) We have been working since last february with a couple of people of friends on a projet called AdA Mod- "Armйe De l'Air" (ie "French Air Force"). The general idea was to : - integrate as much french hardware as possible (Mirage F-1,Mirage IV created by Knell..., AWACS...) - replace the different Mig29s by flyable Mirage fighters - to entirely reskin / resound the Mig29s cockpits, to make you feel as much as possible like flying a Mirage 2000 or F-1 :) Right now, only the pit of the 2000-5 has been completed, but the others are under development. :) And considered the fact that the flight model, the avionic... could not be properly tuned, the result is something like a Mirage 29S or a Mig 2000-5, but we really enjoyed making it :) We hope to be able to make a beta version available at the end of August (we are still working on a big 25+ missions pack : takes a lot of time to create and to type the briefings in french -and- english ) :) Meanwhile, a very nice teaser made by Lothamroth is available here : http://www.lockon.fr/video.php or http://www.virtual-jabog32.de/index.php?section=downloads&subcat=28&file=770&lang=en or on low tube (low res : bad for the text explaining what the mod is all about) http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=P9pK-0QxgII&v3 Hub and the AdA Team :) PS : we spent a lot of time on this project and do not expect anything from it excepted a "thanks guys". А по-моему Ил-2 - это пример кудда могут эти самые доработки завести, особенно если они не к месту и не в ту сторону. Первая ласточка - дин. кампании в засражах. Это - лишнее - лучше наклепали бы хороших статических. Заодно и редактор миссий доработали до нужной кондиции. Потом когда надо было прикручвать новую ФМ, они просто доработали старую, прикрутив к ней новые фенечки. Частая правка характеристик самолетов только подтверждает это. Звуковой движок Ила - вообще легенда - селерон 800 с отдельной звукашкой аудиги "делал" по ФПС четвертого пня 2 ггц со встроенным звуком (Ил-2 Штурмовик, версия 1.22). Управление тоже веселое - авиасимулятор не поддерживает несколько джойстиков. И это при том что на советских истребителях в нем без педалей лучше не летать - исплюешься весь. А дорабатывали новыми самолетами, откровенно слепленными на коленке и новыми ТВД для которых движок игры мало приспособлен. Короче испортили дорабатывая по пути наименьших затрат. А новый проект надо было начинать уже после первой версии Ил-2Ш.

The Ka-50 can use Vikhr in air to air role ( against air targets below 850 km/h more or less ). And of course you have the cannon... I think it is enough for a combat heli with a chance to being employed in air to air missions about 0,05% ( and i am fairly optimistic ). If you find an air target of opportunity and you have enough time to engage it with air to air missiles, the Vikhr is a god weapon, you dont need anything else ( a quite difficult shoot but possible). Why you need R-60 or R-73 or Iglas when the weapons system cant support them IRL? Triying to convert the Ka-50 in a air to air killer against other helis or slow jets is very unrealistic. Let stay like it is, and learn to use its weapons in real roles and enviroments

To be honest I think the true BVR capability of a modern F-16 Versus a Flanker is pretty much unknown. In one side theres this mental picture that the flanker looks big and mean and makes great airshows. However Historicaly Russian aircraft have consistently disapointed under the skin after much hype surrounding them. Mig-25, Mig-23, Mig-29 and Su-27S have failed miserably in combat after being often described by aviation fans as ultimate fighters. Russia advertising of their own hardware have always been very optimistic. Also with the excecption of the Indians and the mentality of the intrepid north vietnamese pilots, every other operator of russian designs also provided poor training and bad doctrines. The failiure of every russian missile with the exception of the R-73 doesnt help. The most successfull Russian fighters ever, The Mig-15 and the Mig-21 gained respect from the west with the gun, never with missiles (note, this was at a time where it was the west turn to have difficulties with theirs). The other types that followed them were much more dependent on missiles in the modern era of dogfight and they all got terrible reputation where it counts: to get shots off on target. This is why I have always said that without reliable means to see first and shoot first (you also have to hit first or else thats not enough) you can have a wonderfully perfoming aircraft but awfull combat record. So from this point of view, I feel I have enough room throw some rants, not because Im entirely convinced about them but rather because I have history to cover for my lack of profound technical knowelege of the new flankers variants full capabilities.

To keep you updated, a bigger update this time :D I've been busy with the radar skew button, designing the housing for the ministick and such. 1 Complete assembled in the stick. 2 Exploded view 01 3 Exploded view 02 4 Time to build some test parts in the stereolithografie machine. (This time in the machine with the transparant resin). 5 The completed parts, the stick and the rubber are allready spraypainted in this picture. 6 Offcourse to test the rubber we have to make a silicon mould of the stereolithografie part, so it's time to prepare this part for mould building. 7 Completed a simple casing to cast the silicon. 8 Casting the composite silicon with the silicon dispenser machine. 9 After the silicon is hardened, we can open the mould with an operating knife, the wave patterns and the metal rods are there to insure a good alignment of the mould layers. 10 After the mould is heated to 70 degrees celsius we can cast the composite polyurethane rubber into the silicon mould in the vacuum chamber, we are looking through a 6 cm thick glass in this picture. 11 And after hardening in the oven for an hour at 70 degrees celsius we can demould the casting and cut off the casting tree. And will the AI do that in BS?, firing in a killbox, or will it just do pure pursuit as it does now?

Which is why you use a LOT of MG's firing into a killbox that the jet will be flying into.

The flanker pilot will laugh his pants off while just cruising along while the vipers go bingo in minutes. Like mud-movers going bingo the F-16's will end up finally ejecting…:D

There's no mess in here, I guess some peeps just got tired of being pushed around and asked the same questions everytime, eventhough I think they over reacted just a wee bit. Not that I'm in any way questioning the mods..:music_whistling: Anyway, back to topic, perhaps this BIG announcement is a very positive one, anybody ever thought of that? Why would it be a negative one? My guess is ED will surprise us in a good way, not a bad way.

As GG said "wait for announcement" 'cuz you don't even know if you'll be able to fly Su-25T in BS.

We (504) find it uncomfortable to play in due to the huge load , I know its a great map and I have no ground to ask for a change so I won't, just thought that if the majority of our guys have issues with it im sure there are plenty more out there. Maybe have a rotation of maps Ice you know you got the skillz to do it.;)

Sorry i mean its made my left leg 'shorter' but not like physically shorter. EDIT: and i meant stickin a block in my shoe in hope of forcing my left leg to straighten out my spine from now till i enlist or wateva :P

After played Flight Simulator X which is 6DOF supported, I wish to get same feelings by Flaming Cliffs too. Btw I know ED is working hard and everybody ask something from them so maybe they dot down my request too. :P

yep, I'm about to take a final tomorrow (dunno why I'm still on the lock on forums) and i promise you that I will forget everything a few days later because i no longer need it in life lol. I'm just here to get a degree.

Everyone else: Thanks for the prompt, constructive and informative responses. I'll be flying the BS in whatever guise it takes...am just thinking as far in advance as possible for all the training and multiplayer missions etc, as the helo will fall under the auspices of the Bomber Wing which, as the CO, means I need to consider some "joined up" scenarios with Frog drivers as well as many other things.
