  1. Well, you're not in Kansas anymore.... I don't know about the accuracy of EDs flight model throughout the BS envelope, but I can tell you that helicopter aerodynamics are only similar to a fixed wing when the rotors aren't turning. Anyway on to the subject. 1) Regarding the yaw change during transition from hover to forward flight. There are lots of reasons for that to happen. The horizontal and vertical stabiliser will be designed to generate a stabilising pitching and yaw moment at some nominal cruise speed. As you start flying forward, the stabiliser starts to generate this moment and the yaw pedal requirement changes. In addition to that, translational lift and a couple of other effects of forward flight will adjust alter the efficiency of the rotor disks - since one disk is acting in the "shadow" of the other, this change is not the same for both. So, between those effects it seems reasonable that there will be a change in both the torque of the main rotors and the aerodynamic stabilisation of the aircraft and so a change of pedal (all controls in fact) will be required. Bear in mind the inherent instability of rotorcraft - when one control is changed all the others have to change as well. 2) Side slipping In a single rotor helicopter like say an Apache, the tail rotor and main rotor forces are coupled. The net effect of these two is that in a hover the helicopter will hover with one wheel or skid lower than the other - if you hover and use cyclic to keep the helicopter in a level roll attitude, you start to sideslip across the ground (I should point out here that in reality some helicopters build in an offset to the main rotor mast or control rigging to aid control - most don't). Now in a coaxial system like the KA 50 in principle there is no equivalent couple of forces. However in forward flight as we've been told, the lower disk is not generating as much torque as the upper one - I guess this is because the lower disk is working in the air already disturbed by the upper disk (at least to an extent depending on airspeed). Anyway, the effect is that the disks are generating unequal amounts of lift on opposing sides of the aircraft (in forward flight, the upper disk generates most lift on the port side and the lower disk generates most lift on the starboard side). However the disks don't generate the same amount of lift so there is an imbalance leading to a roll unless the pilot corrects. Just like the Apache, if the pilot flies exactly straight and level with the trim centered, the resulting couple will have the aircraft slip sideways. On the other hand, you can fly in trim but with a bit of bank to stop the drift or you can fly with a level roll attitude and slightly out of trim and that will stop the aircraft sideslipping too. So, while EDs flight model may not be perfect, the interacting forces and effects are such that the ideal straight and level in trim flight is not necessarily something we should expect (or even try to achieve) - it isn't in real helicopters and while the KA 50 is co-ax in design I don't see why it should be any different. r.

  5. Finally I have finished the new Su27 lod( level of details) optimized model, and have done a small test of FPS.... Map for test: Form of 4 aircrafts X 8, 32 aircrafts in a screen for test in all. The PC equiption:AMD64 3800+ X2 8600GT 256MB DDR3 2G DDR2 667 Model for test: New Su27 model Su33 New F15 model Su25T view for test: The Normal focus and the farthest focus (for condition that the whole 32 aircrafts were put in screen) the result of the test: Model:fps of nomal focus,fps of the farthest focus su25T:33,15 Walmis F15 model:26,12 su33:40,22 3GO Su27 model:56,24 The result surprised me a lot:music_whistling:, which shows that the fps fo the new Su27 model is even higher than that of the Su33 model. The lod of 3 stage that has been worked hard on for several days can be very efficient. You can see the test screenshots here:

У вышедшей на западе ЧА гораздо больше одиночных миссий и треков. Вопрос: будут ли в русской версии добавлены эти миссии? 2. Упоминается еще какой-то доп. контент (содержимое то бишь) Вопрос: будет ли в русской версии и новый контент? 3. Мэт откровенно заявляет, что вышедший на западе продукт более доработан (читай: за счет платного "тестирования" русскими). Не могу удержаться от комментария. С одной стороны приятно, что мы получили продукт первыми. Не очень приятно оказаться в роли подопытного. Причем за свои же деньги. Вот оно, эксплуатирование трудящихся силами загнивающего капитализма.:devil_2: Не то, чтобы я очень обижен. Просто не очень приятно такое отношение. Правда, это ничего не решает. ЧА я все равно купил бы. Но хотелось по этому поводу высказаться. :censored: 4. В будущем планируют выпустить боксовую версию с руководством пользователя в виде книги. Вопрос: в России боксовая версия с настоящим руководством в виде книги будет? Я бы, например, с удовольствием купил боксовую версию. А то обломно 500 стр. распечатывать на принтере. (Хотя 375 стр. я уже распечатал:music_whistling:).

  8. To Mr. Wagner and all the ED Staff I wish to personally thank you for creating the best program (can I even call it a game?) that I have ever seen. Despite the setbacks and the delays, I would like to thank all of you for not giving up and pressing on with this simulation. Flying the Blackshark which such a degree of realism is one of the best experiences I have been immersed in. Again, thank you for your hard work and dedication.   11. Nice job on those LODs Skierider! I gotta rep around before I add more into your account! Tell me more about the skins you plan to include in Su27 package! Do you plan releasing "default" LOFC Su-27 skins but in higher res (2048*2048)?! Now, since this is a new 3D model I believe it's possible to make extra skin entries for new models. This means you can add more skin "slots" to your model. If you plan to do it that way I advise on checking Joe Cool's threads that feature lots of RL Su-27 pics from squads located in Caucasus: - Krymsk AB 3rd IAP (2000->): http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=33685 - Gudauta AB 171GvIAP ('89-93): http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=33596 I believe that having realistic skin sets from the area and theater that LOFC features is a way to go here!

  12. Ultimate is just a package level of Vista. There is Home, Business and I am sure others as well. It just determines what preinstalled stuff comes with it. And so as stated previously, and version of Vista will do.

  16. Don't waste your time reverting to XP. With the ATI you will have the same problems. I learned the hard way, too. Only thing that fixed it for me was reverting back to my nVidia 8800GTS. I guess it's the combination of 2 flaws in the ATI drivers. 1. Some routines from older DX- and OpenGL-Version were dropped. There was a quick patch for FalconAF to provide a workaround over some issues caused by that. Looking at the basis of the BS-Engine, I guess this is the cause of several minor graphics bugs. (e.g. with enabled AF and FSAA your PC will get slower and slower if you watch flares and their smoke. Once the Smoke dissappears it immediately goes back to normal FPS.) 2. The lack of automatic FAN-control. This is really a big issue as the fan won't speed up, no matter how hot the card is getting. I STRONGLY recommend to use the overclocking routine. From within the CCC check Overdrive and click the key to enable overclocking. Now don't change the frequencies(!), but look to the lower end of the panel. Select manual fan-speed and set it to 35-50%. IIRC it is fixed to 16% normally, which is way too slow for this heater. Hope that will solve it. Apparently the MemoryPageFaults, which are rather normal, increase to a critical state when the cards get's hotter. In the ATI-Forums, there are also many reports of people who underclocked the cards in order to play safe with the standard-cooler.

  19. Почему? TGA 1024*1024 24 бит и 32 - это 24 и 32Мб, разница ровно на 33.(3)%, а сжимается в DDS (что и происходит в CDDS) текстура с альфа-каналом обычно даже лучше. Что касается яркости - соглашусь со Скартом. Текстура выглядит реалистичней чем остальной LO :) и поэтому не вписывается в окружение. Заодно можно будет и к ГОСТу окончательно привести ;)

  22. Движок корявит. Поправлю. Должен работать по идее. Скорее всего поверх текстуры нарисуются воронки. ПС. Судя по фотам - аэродромы таки чистые. Единственная грязь - все что натекло и следы от касаний. А следам на рулежках откуда взятся? Нет. Это движок. По ГОСТ разметка должна быть не мение чем на 85% ярче подстилающей поверхности. У меня наверно и 60% нету. Можно сделать. Но тогда текстура будет односезонная. И будет виден стык травы настоящей и травы с поверхности. Можно сделать совсем хорошо. С Альфа каналом. Но тогда каждая текстура будет весить по 40 Мег, без возможности ужатия. Тут ограничения движка или ещё чего то.

  23. Thanks ED team, Beta testers. I am having a ball learning this bird. The wait was all worth it. Maybe I feel like a kid that hasn’t eaten for a while and was presented a T Bone steak. I just can’t get enough… I know there are many thankful threads. Mods feel free to merge it. But I had to say my 2 cents. I admit the enjoyment is in the learning process. I’m also glad you implemented easy/arcade type of flight and missions that helps in bringing more players in the arena. My impression is, they will abandoned this type of flight status and go for the full immersion :book:. This is where the full joy is. The flight details are very impressive even for a noob like me. ВПП выглядит слишком новой, как будто стройтехника ещё не успела уехать с АЭ, а краска и мастика ещё пачкается => а) дорисовать стройтехнику и емкости с мастикой и краской б) убавить яркость разметки и мастики - сделать "потусклее" 2. Чисто эстетический момент - сделать иммитацию залезания растительности по краешку бетона примерно так же как это сделано в ЛО релоад

  34. Correct me if Im wrong but doesnt that allow to fly in any plane with other planes cockpits? Imagine what I could do with the F-117 slot with the same cockpit as the F-15. A very nice way to fly stealth planes in multiplayer. :D

I haven't had it crash on my system yet offline, but online almost every single time I'm on for a while (an hour or so) the game will suddenly lockup (sound will still be on, game screen frozen, other aplications working in backgruond like Ventrilo still working) and I can't ALT/TAB, exit the game... nothing... and I have to resourt to manual restart... very anoying. My system: Asus P5Q-E motherboard Intel E8600 oc'ed to 3.8GHz (water cooled) Corsair 4GB DDR2 (not oc'ed) 2x ATI HD4870 in CF (driver Catalyst 8.11) Creative X-Fi Extreme Gamer Windows XP Pro SP3
