Hello - First of all: I love DCS:BlackShark I spotted it the first time in the German FS-Magazine And what can I say- since than I never fired FSX for a helicopter ride up again! And I had really had a hard time to get this Simulator - not because it is so hard to get here in Germany - no -it is because you can't spot it the shops! You have to look among Fishing and Sailing simulations... Think about that I got my DCS copy also only by "accident". I bought the FS-Magazine only because I wanted to read a review of the helicopter add-on BO-105 from nemeth designs for FSX ... and than I read this review about a strange Russian helicopter.... So how many people grab Hawks instead of BlackShark because they didn't know it better?! And I thought that I have to do something about this and here is what I'm doing everytime I'm near a electronic store like "MediaMarkt" or "Saturn" (Germany's equivalent to "Bestbuy"): This is a video from my last "shopping tour" I did it up to now in 3 markets (and more to come). And so should you :) Be a DCS-Media Guerilla! -Join Now! -Spread the Word!3 points

Still holding on that 49% cost overrun margin? No wonder we have to pay for the mistakes all those greedy people make  Not to mention LM bribing our government for at least the second time. And all those people will start bitching over here about the sound. Better get the Gripen-NG and be over it. It's proven, quiet, 1 engine, is a bomb truck, and has no degraded stealth.2 points

Once the Gripen will be released, it will be time to focus on its predecessor ! This Viggen will represented as its final fighter version, the JA-37D. It will "naturally" replace the F-15C for similarity on missions and armaments. Release in two more weeks, of course. :)1 point

What worries me is the fact that if I have understood the situation correctly it's 14FPS in a near-empty map where nothing happens. That has me worried that it's actually a real problem in the machine rather than just the regular stuff coming from a lower-end CPU. But it's difficult to get things like that confirmed so I don't know... :P If you are nice to them they'll usually be nice back. But they will be wondering why you burned through so many activations so fast, so make sure to include a full explanation of your problem and what happened in your first contact to them. I was looking for the relevant e-mail adress but CAT (Mind if I call you cat? :D ) had posted a link that's probably better.1 point

Wilde, I wrote a long reply to your previous post, but something went wrong when I tried to post it and it vanished. So I will try again and merge it with this quote :) . Yes it is :) . The Su-30 was a dedicated interceptor variant of the basic Su-27 that never entered service with the Russian airforce - it was proposed and a handful or so(5 or 6 airframes) flew from operational units on a sort of trial basis, but in the end the Russian airforce declined - either because they weren't interested in it(having the MiG-31 for the purpose) or simply because they couldn't afford to induct it at the time. Anyway, Sukhoi reclaimed the airframes and used them as basis for prototypes of advanced multirole export variants(Su-30MK). There is no Su-30 with N011 ;) . The N011 has(had) a planar slotted array antenna and was NIIP's answer to NIIR's N010 "Zhuk". The N011 was only fitted to the initial Su-35(T-10M) prototypes from the early nineties. In connection with the export of the Su-30MKI, NIIP developed a new version of the radar(N011M), which differed from the initial N011 by having a PESA antenna mounted on the existing hydro-mechanical drive. AFAIK only the Indian Su-30MKI was fitted with this radar, while other Su-30MK exports(including the Chinese Su-30MKK) have an upgraded version of the N001 called N001VE, which is the one also used by the Su-27SM ugrade recently accepted into Russian service. In "that time frame"?! - Wilde, some 90% of the Su-27s in service today are those "old Su-27S". Aside from the Su-33 which entered operational service with the Russian navy in 1994(although not officially accepted until 1998 ), the only other new Su-27 variant to enter service is the above mentioned Su-27SM.....and that was very recently(within the last couple of years) and still only account for a very small part of the Su-27 fleet. There are other in the process of being inducted - such as the Su-27IB(Su-34) and the brand new Su-35 version of which 3 or 4 prototypes exist(well one crashed, so I guess its down to 3 now). Anyway, the point is that Lock-on actually depicts several Russian aircraft variants that, to this day, remain in prototype status. Now I am fine with the inclusion of these into the sim - because they aren't "X-planes" built merely for testing new technologies, but actual combat aircraft meant for operational service. What I don't agree with is to argue for a change to the capabilities of the in-service types based on speculations that the Russians may have secretly implemented new technology. You jump from 1986 to 1996 as if nothing major happened in the meantime that could affect such military plans - Wilde - the country that developed and built the MiG-29 and Su-27 went bankrupt and ceased to exist in 1991!. Considering those circumstances and the end of the cold war, I don't understand how you can "expect" Russia to have secretly spent billions on military upgrades......there were neither the funds nor the urge to do so. 2 or 3 regiments?......I doubt the current force is anyway near that. Was the advent of the Su-27SM kept secret? ;) - if anything the trend has been to jump the gun and proclaim overly optimistic time frames for all sorts of new acquisitions and upgrades that never materialized. Yes although you could say that they were all exported - what they are referring to is the difference between the version exported to Warsaw pact countries and the one(MiG-29B) exported to friendly non-Warsaw pact countries such as Yugoslavia and Cuba(I believe). Hungary also received this version as part of post-Soviet debt payment.1 point

Also, if you want to have the pilot shown by default, edit the following: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\Ka-50\Scripts\Aircrafts\Ka-50\Cockpit\mainpanel_init.lua and look for draw_pilot = false and change to draw_pilot = true1 point

While I was in the 101st Airborne, one of our Apaches hit a tree and we just wrapped it in duct tape and flew it back to the airfield. It made a terrible WOP sound like a single-bladed Huey. I have also seen Apache's put the tail rotor into some branches and get pretty dented and banged up and the pilots didn't even know it until the post-flight. Then again, I have also seen an Mi-17 strike a wooden pallet that took several pockets out of two of the main rotor blades, with the honeycomb filler coming apart, and all they got was a slight vibration. In general, though, helicopters ARE deathtraps in the sense that they are not really designed to run into large, heavy objects and continue to fly.1 point

I don't agree. "natural head movement" (LCTRL-F1) tends to direct you line-of-sight towards where you're going. In a medium bank turn to the right, you'll see more out of the right window. When pulling G's, either at the base of a loop or in a steep bank turn, your head moves up (airframe relative), towards the inside of the turn. Don't use it if you're using TrackIR. To disable this mode, hit F1 (no modifier). The head returning to the horizontal aspect you describe is governed by LWIN-F1, "head shift movement" which changes the point of view according to accelerations of the craft, personally, this would be nice if we could adjust the stiffness of the modelled torso/neck. I don't feel strapped in the seat, but rather sitting on a balloon - too sluggish. FreeFalcon had the same feature with better, "stiffer" values. I feel it is done nicely in FSX, not as stiff, but understandable given the civilian-type seat belts - the fore-aft acceleration effect is great. As a footnote, it is a bad real life habit to tilt your head towards the vertical in a turn that is the least bit tight (30-deg. bank or more). But a lot of us do it to some extent. :pilotfly:1 point

Wags' videos are flown with the FD off. But his flights aren't very impressive from a wrapping-the-helo-around-it's-envelope standpoint. The one really impressive "airshow" style video I've seen was flown with FD symbology on the HUD. So it really comes down to how you prefer to fly. Pretty much anything within a realistic combat environment can likely be flown just as well with the FD off. But the fun "video game" stuff like head-2-head helos are probably easier with the FD on. To me, DCS is a piece of entertainment software, not a Kamov training device. Therefore I fly it in a way that most entertains me. Should Kamov ever invite me to Russia for a recurrent sim ride, I'll be sure to keep the FD off. Smokin' Hole1 point

thanks vhekkiho, i allways wanted somebody to show some prove for what we knew for many years. but allways this is bloged by the community. damn even the su27 can track mulitiples and attack them. but why do we discuss this in this forum. most of the people here ban hard ass facts, like we ban cheaters. the mig29S (9-13) is capable to track 4 targets at the same time, like the su27, and with thier new radars, damn, they are even capable of more then that. the new radar tech is capable to track in theorie 1000 targets, cause it incorporates multi radarbeams sent form many many radar emmiters, in independent directions and as far the theorie, each beam is independent and could be tracking a target at the same time. same way works the radar of the eurofighter and all the new 5 th generation fighters and also the 4th generations. but that level is bloged by the community here and the still bitch about the r27et, and other things which are way outdated by these days. i can only say on thing. most of the people here should be happy that only the non sophisticated ARH SARH and IR missiles are inplemented in worng ways into this sim. today pilots have to face even worth threats then we have to face in lomac, and still people bitch about shit like 27et. imagine somebody would fire a passive radar homing misslie at you. this is even worth then a ir long range, cause you here nothing and the missile tracks you for 130km just by locking you radarsignals. these missiles were built to kill awacs, but they work fine for fighters as well. the bad thing is, that these missles can also activate thier own tracking radar when they are close enough and the radarsignals they are tracking disappear, so there is no real way to get away from that bitch. so please ED, for the patch that you want to releas for FC this year. make the missile more real and give the mig29c and the su27 the capabilities they have in real. lock and track multi targets. the eagle has so far what it needs, but some stuff needs to be done there too.1 point

Yoda and GG are not only saying that the missiles are porked, but that the game it self is porked when it comes to drag and gravity and a lot of other factors as well. A whole rewrite of that code is needed to solve this problem as not only these missiles are affected (but maybe more then certain others). And for the record, I never questioned that the Aim9 or Aim120 was porked, only how much.1 point
