I know many are considering the huge investment in the G940 and probably can't get enough information on the setup. I like mine a lot. It is well-constructed and precise. The FFB feature just might save my ham-fisted arse in IL2 (no more panic driven Spit snap-rolls). It has postponed the onset of arthritis caused by continuous forward stick in Rise of Flight. I no longer have to be bathed in Saitek blue light. But after eight relentless hours of trying to get a usable trim with DCS I've decided to disable FFB in the producer config file. It still flies better than the Saitek that way. The spring without FFB is very smooth, natural, and adjustable. I love the pre 1.01 trim and am comfortable with it. One negative is a small amount of undampened play around neutral. For some, that alone might be a deal breaker. But I think I'll stick it out for another week or two. Sorry for the short post but my baby just woke up. Time to work. REVISION: FFB Works better for me with the following settings: Logitech FFB properties: All default except bottom Centering Spring Slider at 20 % and "Enable Centering Sping in FFB Games" is CHECKED (This has a slight negative effect with DCS but allows good control of planes in IL2 and RoF.) Logitech DCS profile axis properities: Default except Sensitivity at 50% DCS Controller settings (in-game options): Axis default, ie, no curves. FFB 100%.1 point

Well I can't see any poll about this subject and I think a poll gives a more accurate statment then just the thread we have right now so here we go :) I think that it would be much more realistic to have english voice with russian accent. Right now I lose the realism when I have to press paus, read the damn text for me to understand what my fellow comrades are talking about. I would love to learn russian but it is a bit to far to get a crash course in russian just to get the realism in BS I guess :D1 point

My best advice, learn every aspect of Black Shark first. Once you learn everything about Black Shark, and i do mean EVERYTHING, then the A-10 will be released lol1 point

Highly unlikely - I mean, yes, you could get a lucky shot and penetrate the top, or specifically the engine grill, and shrapnel could knock out sensors etc, but realize that this is EXACTLY the type of stuff a tank is protected against. It can survive multiple direct hits from things far more powerful than your rockets, especially on the forward 1/3rd, and is protected against artillery all around. If you are going to engage an MBT with rockets, it should be because the situation is desperate. Those things aren't even as powerful as RPGs, except for the dedicated anti-tank rocket, and even THEN that thing needs to hit the rear/side, and it's still pretty inaccurate - ie. you absolutely require a direct hit at a reasonable angle. You can engage APCs/IFVs more successfuly, but again, some are tougher than others, and direct hits are still required. No. This is why you have an anti-armor payload. If you're hunting armor and you run out of vikhts, it's time to go home for a reload. Rockets should be used against fixed installations (ZSUs, tents, buildings, entrenchments ... ) light vehicles (prefferably parked) and troops. Your rockets are basically nothing short of aerially-deployed artillery.1 point

Because the stick does move in F-15, MiG-29, Su-27, Ka-50 ... I can not imagine anything else but moving stick when flying Ka-50. Force feedback is not about shaking the stick when shooting a gun, but holding the stick when trimming the helicopter.1 point

absolutely the best I ever seen. Look like you have some experience in technical manuals writing. I've some original check-lists from boeing that is very similar in concept. Great work. Thanks too much for this, really appreciate as is ;-)1 point

As you can all see, I finally managed to use multi-quote instead of replying to every post seperately. I'm proud of myself and life makes sense now:smilewink:. I'll have to get more information on the differences of both "force" technologies first before I can say which one makes sense to me. But I also use my FF-Stick for other games/sims, like racing games, for instance. That could be one reason for me to stick with the FF-Stick. Well, it seems that my beloved "Iskender-Kebap" comes right after it on second place ;). On such days I'd need a new sim to maintain my fitness on my bike: DBS (Digital Bicycle Simulator): Black Scott. This topic gained my interest in how forces are implemented in real fighterplanes and what the idea behind each concept is. I'll try to find out more about this or if one could give me a hint where I could find some (lots of, tonnes of) information on this... I have some contacts to OKB Sukhoi by a girlfriend who is a translator for the international commitees at MAKS and whos whole family-members work in various departments in the Flight-Test Center in Zhukowski. They managed to give me lots of stuff, like various autographs of their test pilots (and some handshaking with them and exchange of information. Although the information was almost only one-wayed. I was the one asking and the pilots the ones answering) and some literature that are hard to find and insight in the SU-Cockpits. She joins me every time to the MAKS-Airshow and I get free access even on non-public days and makes me and my camera very happy. I love her!!!!! ;). In one of the books of the OKB, there is some very detailed and interesting information about how the joystick of the SU-37MR works/worked. The automatic level-of-flight at changing speeds and angles-of-attack without having the necessity of moving (correcting) the stick was very interesting (not in AP-mode). I think I'll have to read it once again. Can't say anything about other aircrafts' joystick conception. This is where you have to gimme input ;). One last idea of mine: I hope one day the companies switch to a multi-feature philosophy instead of just producing one feature-hardware. We say "eat or die" to this way of thinking. The modular design could give us some freedom in our choice. Why just FF or FS? It would be possible to have both modules from which the customer could chose. They could also create different joysticks of different aircraft, so that you could screw on the stick for SU-27-Family aircraft on top the base. And when you play F-16 you just replace it with a F-16 Mod-Stick. They could also apply a mechanism to twist the stick to one side for a certain degree. This way you could use it as a centered stick between the legs like the SUs have it without worrying about your wrist bending in an unnatural way. Why just having a sim with modular aircrafts when you can have the hardware modular as well. This way we could use them almost a lifetime and they could earn more money by selling various modules. Ok. When I have some ideas, my keyboard (and some of you, I guess) begins sweating :smartass:. Now take a deep breath and relax, folks. See ya.1 point

I just spent the last 18 hours looking through THOUSANDS of pages... I want to hurt you ;) New best guess... McDonald Voodoo variant..? The closest I can come is Notice the small black behind gray engine gauges while all the rest are black on gray. This seems to be a trend with McDonald fighters. Also, small gyro located over the radar display.1 point

From memory DCS uses the UTF-8 BOM format so make sure when in NP++ to save in that format.. ;)1 point

@gadroc there is definitely something not working well with the ffb implementation in dcs:bs. i had the exact same problem with the saitek evo force. somehow everything is connected, overall precision, precision of ffb trim, ffb trim behaviour, saturation settings, curvature settings, sensitivity. just try these scenarios: in the windows game controller settings, all forces to 100%. in the logi-profiler sensivity 0 - 100%. in bs-options axis tune curvature -10 (play around with negative and positive values). in ff tune options trimmer force 50-100. if you go more than +25 in bs curvature setting the ffb trim effect will vanish or may become completely unpredictable. use ctrl enter to see how the stick indicator is starting to make strange jumps or movements.1 point
