  2. I made a guide on how to do this (it assumes basic familiarity with the training material, but you can jump in it from there) and threw it on youtube as per request: It's not gospel on how this is done, but the method I'm using seems to work pretty well. I like the fact that you can store target data in flight plans.

  3. I've taken screenshots of the current beta 2 paint schemes for DCS A-10C and assembled an online gallery so you can see what they look like before picking one. Beta 2 Updates & Fictional Skins: http://picasaweb.google.com/kylania/Beta2DCSA10CPaintSchemes# Beta 3 Updates: http://picasaweb.google.com/kylania/Beta3DCSA10CPaintSchemes# In order to use one in a mission of yours follow these instructions.

  5. I believe I read that when you're in CCIP mode, and you're pointing at a target that is at your altitide or higher than you are, you'll get that error. From your pic, it looks like your pipper is over the hill/mountain in front of you which will give you that error since the computer can't compute a solution over that target from your current location. If you're trying to launch JDAMs there's a really good video that takes you step by step through how to do it with setting up mark points for each target. That way you can launch multiple JDAMs in a single pass. I've done it, and the vid is spot on with the instructions. Also, it pays to RTFM, then play, then RTFM again so that you have some context and actually understand and reference what you're reading about. :) Good luck.

  8. I tend to fly as fast as possible...the Hog might be relatively slow, but the same rules to evade SAMs and AAA apply.

  9. It's not really a detail, but something to do to enjoy many of the details. Take off on a sunset/dusk flight and play Wagner's Vorspiel from Das Rheingold. Loud. My eyes were wet.

  12. Most guys in my squadron have already moved to DCS-A-10C and are enjoying learning and flying the hog together but all of them including others I meet online agree that both the games are different experiences and there will still be plenty of FC2 players around at least till DCS:Supersonic Fighter is released. As for the guys who call FC2 players "Airquakers" I disagree with you FC2 is easy to learn but its very hard to master because you have to constantly adapt and create new tactics and counter-tactics especially when you are flying against good squadrons...It takes a lot of practice and teamwork to get things right and when even the simplest of squadron tactics go right for you its an incredibly rewarding experience.

  14. get the clip I have the hat clip, and it does the job, but I think the USB powered LED's will give a better signal. I'm updating from my TIR4 to 5 and getting the clip. Do it.

  15. You know when to put it down WHEN Always remember family is first!:) This mostly applies to the Wife; Back when.....yea back when Falcon came on 2, 3 1/2" floppy disks. I was linked up via a serial cable to a friend on the PC right next to me. This was the first time EVER in the virtual world where I could fly my F-16 and he his in the same game. WOW..NEWay...The wife walks by asking me if "I THOUGHT SHE LOOKED OK IN THAT "NEW BIKINI"" of cource I said "You Look great!" then turned my attencion back to Falcon. Ahem.....Divorced in just a few weeks!:pilotfly:

  16. Start with the basics - learning to just fly and handle the jet. I've got a mission set up with nothing but an empty A-10 and some fuel ready to go on the runway for practicing basic flying skills. See the attached. Use the rudder to keep the aircraft on the runway, and pull back smoothly at around 130 kts to lift off. To land, use full flap and approach at about 130 kts. Just fly gently at first until you get used to it, then start getting into steep turns, etc.. to get a feel for the aircraft. Try climbing and descending at a particular airspeed, to get a feel for the aircraft performance and power. Once you're happy with climbs, descents, and steep turns, start doing some aerobatics. Know which keys in your setup perform the following: * Trim (pitch and roll) * Gear up/down * Flaps retract/extend * Speed brake retract/extend * Nose Wheel Steering (NWS) engage/disengage Best regards, Tango. 17. Assuming ED is reading this for opinions, count me on the side for DCS compatibility with other DCS platforms and leave LOMAC/FC2 where it is. The latter is a fine low/medium level sim but I hope ED focuses on developing DCS modules going forward instead of splitting valuable resources to maintain FC2 compatibility.

  19. Oh, the irony! :D You enter the thread, declare yourself too lazy to check if the issue has already been reported and then, when someone politely suggests that you search first in order to avoid spamming the board, you become patronising and condescending and lecture him on not lecturing before telling him he sounds like a prick.

  20. A10 is destined to be used by existing or new VFW with their own servers. The "air quake" public servers for FC2 are irrelevant to DCS A10. I do not want to fly a hardcore jet with a bunch of air quakers who shoot wads of missiles at me, rearm, rinse, repeat. Already my long-time Falcon4 VFW is taking on A10. *THAT* is where I will fly.

  21. You know when it's time to take a break from DCS A10-C when.. .. You wake up in Hospital with an IV in your arm due to dehydration..

  22. Frogfoot, is it possible you set SPI to something other than your steerpoints? That has tripped me up before. Make sure MAN REL is showing up on the left side of the HUD before you pickle. Otherwise nothing will happen.
