Hi, I had some nice feedback after posting my explanation of adding jtac's to missions, so now I feel I should make a guide like Warrior X fantastic series. Now I am not the worlds greatest expert but I do hope this will be of use to some people. Any comments or additions feel free to post and also any mistakes I have made:) Cib’s guide to adding Jtac to generated missions.pdf2 points

Hi, I have been away for while from BS, Played a-10 mostly but it seems to be little too hard to me with all that avionics. Great sim anyway. New IL-2 was a big dissappointment because it stutters all the time and i cannot enjoy flying it at the current state, hope the got fixed it. So i think playing great BS again, so my question is there coming patch to BS anymore and if it is, any estimate for it? Thanks, Kankkis1 point

Has anyone figured how to make a looping trigger with set interval. Like this: Unit enters zone, and after that fire a flare every two minutes. Sure, it is easy to make it fire the flares continuously once per second, but there must be another way. A quick workaround might be to make a second trigger area far away from the battle and make another unit drive loops in and out to the area. Also, I haven't figured how to make a triggerzone that works only for ground units and will not activate with air units (and vice versa)1 point

Yeah i'll "Acuratize" the arty coordinates... :P i fixed the MLRS one... that one WAS way off, my bad.... :(1 point

2011, feb 25, Gryzlovo airfield. One construction bureau made electronic guidance for old AA gun ZSU-23-2. Army doesn't fly, so they asked sportsmen to fly - to check-up the systems. WpcBxoGM4WY&feature=player_embedded1 point

Why, you want to shoot the airport personnel? I find it annoying that I have to put fuel in my car. :huh:1 point

Hello All, We'll be having a 3Sqn Air-Air Squadmatch on April 2 at 0400GMT. Non-squadron pilots are invited to join our ventrillo comms and fly on the red side in MiG-29A/S and Su-27. A Red team lead from 3Sqn be on comms from 0345GMT to direct you and provide you with a password. There are a total of 10 slots, no need to reserve one, just turn up on the day and take any free spots. The flying should last until at least 0600GMT, so if you can't make it until a bit later that is fine too. Thanks!1 point

Nor would MN568030 (never spaces in a MGRS coordinate, if you want to be strict about the standard - we're not, where I'm using them in real life) be read out as MN56830, which is what DCS:A-10C does currently. ;) Unfortunately, it also reads out MN056830 as MN56830, so you've only got a 50/50 chance of guessing it right. It is a bug.1 point

changing the lodMult value in Graphics.cfg does work now... I've set mine to 1.5 (I've tried 2.0 also and it works even better but there is little FPS hit so I've decided to leave it at 1.5) The way it works is if for 3D model it's set that from high lod to low lod switches at say 500m, lodMult of 1 will mean lod will switch at that value of 500m... if you set it to 2.0 it will switch at 1000m... this means more polys to render for the video card and it does decrease performance... as a benefit objects do look better further out1 point

You can go here to see the 3 view of the model and a 360 degree animation of it- http://www.combataircraft.com/en/Military-Aircraft/Mikoyan-Gurevich/MiG-29-Fulcrum/ Thanks for the positive feedback guys-1 point

You would not need any other profiling software, not even necessarily programming different devices in different tabs - all the devices can be programmed in the same code (and you can for example use a button on an x52 as a modifier for a functionality on your CH pedals etc). It would be a direct programming approach instead of wrapping it in a semi-programmable profiler application. You would get access to each of the devices' *states* and could write simple conditional statements as if you were doing very basic programming. The thing is that you don't need to replace or rewrite any of the functionality. You only need to Give access to 1. Read current state 2. Input virtual keystrokes ( that your game reads) These two things are what I mean will be only a few hundred lines (in fact it might even be below 100 lines of code, much shorter than my previous projects). What would require more work would be simplifications of profiles and GUIs, that could be a lot more code.1 point

This is the final design of the UFC. Externally this is complete. Internally there are a few things to work on, some holes, a connector for the PCB, a few screws here and there, etc. Electronics will be the cheapest thing on here likely. I've priced all the actual components, and excluding the cost of PCB (may etch my own), and the BU0836X I already have, it will be just a bit north of $20 dollars in switches and the like. The nice thing is everything fits inside the head unit of the UFC and it's nicely accurate in dimensions and design to the real unit. I have an option I will pursue on getting the faceplate and buttons crafted, which may work out to everyone's advantage, but I will say nothing more on that matter at this time. I have a pattern created that once cut and bent will form the rear box, I'll have to find someone competent in aluminum welding to close the seams. Everything I have designed here can be laser / water cut from .063" and .125" aluminum sheet, and the head unit and buttons easily milled on a three axis CNC. I've used the trim in an F-15 (hey, it's closer than anyone else's comparisons :P) and it's not all that dissimilar from DCS A-10 from what I've seen. I think the difference is that in reality, trimming will actually move the stick so you have instant feedback, whereas in the videogame you basically just have to go off what the aircraft does. You can tap a trim switch in real life and feel that stick respond, whereas in the sim, well, you can't do that. I've noticed that a completely minuscule tap of the trim hat will provide an appropriately minuscule trim adjustment. You have to be *very* delicate to get a perfect trim. What's nice about this is that there's no 'minimum' period for trimming like there typically are in other flight sims. The slightest tap registers and will have an effect. That explains why my arm was tired after I got this home... http://i.imgur.com/lcTPG.png Trim would've been very helpful :D1 point

That hat set as buttons shouldn't be a problem if configured accordingly. As the hat that I'm using for trim has also been set up as buttons as well. I suppose I could look into SFJackBauer's profile and see whether or not that is the source of the problem. As I think I should be able to at least open the profile with the Saitek profile software even though I own an X-65F myself.1 point

My father told me an anecdote of one time he was in a Il-18 taking of from havana to Santiago and wen he reached to v2 something flashes on his left, bang warning noises all over, the plane start to pull from that side, with a hell of effort he manage to get the plane on the air, then declare the emergence and with only the motor of the left wing he manage to land again and nothing happens, beside the bad smell in the cockpit :) jejejeje. After all the passenger got out he went to see the mess and in the middle of the left aileron was a hole the size of cal .30 and a mass of bird, feathers, like a pattee of liver(don't know hot to say it in english). Is a shame I cant translate the story just like he told me it would been more funny and scary and the same time. sorry guys for my poor english. Shinigami Out...1 point

Leporello With this mission don't touch any radio frequencies they are already set. If you have Easy Communications ticked in the Gameplay Options menu it will work. When the sim loads and just after you press the un-pause button, imediately press the radio menu button, then press F1 'Wingman', then F1 again 'Navigation', then F1 'Anchor Here'. He should say 'Copy' and maintain a holding orbit, if he does this everything else should work. Make sure you are in 'Simulation mode' as oppossed to 'Game mode', I've never used Game mode so don't know if any radio commands are disabled. I have just re-tried this mission and it works exactly as I have said above. Edit : I assume we are talking about the 'Instant Action' Easy-East Georgia-Spring mission If it doesn't you must have a Options item incorrectly set (which one I don't know) or a faulty mission file.1 point

In addition to my rather limited TOLD pdf, which only covers Nellis AFB, another user made a very nice mission planning program that I believe will give you basic TOLD data as well. As mentioned here and elsewhere, the AoA indexer is a great tool, and indeed makes life easier. However, prior to approach the pilot is required to calculate a Final Turn Speed (used during the turn to final), an Approach Speed (used during straight-in final), and a Landing Speed (used at touchdown). The calculation is based on gross weight, and represents the minimum allowable speed for the approach. These minimum speeds must be respected, even if the AoA indexer wants you to fly slower in order to get "on speed". The computation is as follows: The assumed configuration is gear down, full flaps, and speed brakes 40%. The aircraft gross weight is assumed to be 30,000 pounds. The baseline approach speed is 130kt. Add 2kt for each 1,000 pounds over 30,000 pounds. Add 15 knots to the calculated approach speed to determine the Final Turn speed. Subtract 10 knots from the calulated approach speed to determine Landing Speed. For example, at 35,000 pounds, the Final Turn Speed is 155kt, the Approach Speed is 140kt, and the Landing Speed is 130kt.1 point

Hello all, I'm on the board again. :-) I succesfully bought my new computer environment and FC2 also, so I try to convert the Mig-21bis for the FC2. I try to insert some new features like tactical nuke with their pylon and SPS-141 jammer pod as well.1 point

I have it and I would say yes it is excellent and still regarded as one of, if not the definitive book on the subject. I would also somewhat agree with Mower. Read the reviews on Amazon; they are pretty accurate, this isn't a light read. I usually devour books in one or two sittings - you can't with Shaw.1 point

It can be rather frustrating for those of us that dont belong to a squadron, there dont seem to be so many 'community servers' like the 104th is for FC2 yet, but it does seem to be improving slowly. Its looking more and more like there will be a BS-A10 Patch which will help, and theres some good servers coming on line, just had an enjoyable morning with the 77th.1 point
