Hey guys and girls, Just putting the word out there that there is a Team speak 3 Server running for all members/pilots flying DCS. The Server is being hosted by AEF - Platform networks however this is more of a goodwill gesture to get our community interacting on a new level. The way this is set-up is there are some channels set aside for public access, flying missions together, general chat. the rest of the channels are set aside for clans to have their own space for their meetings, missions, training etc. Clans who wish to have their own private channels please PM me and I will organise that process and Moderator permissions to the appropriate people. Those channel Details are 216.244.65.18:99902 points

This bothered me so I took a look at the code and found the error. The fix is in "Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Sounds\Speech\common.lua" and is a change in accentTable (Germany had accent.GER instead of the correct accent.GERMANY) I have no idea what other horrors I might have unleashed from doing this but it worked in the mission I flew just recently. [edit] Just popped in and out of a multiplayer game so that seems unaffected. common.lua2 points

Max length of the movie is 5min!! 3. Only absolute new never published material is allowed. (The Community will have a sharp eye on this!) 4. You have to upload your Video on Youtube until the 11th August 2011 1st DCS Movie Maker Smack-Down" starts in... Hurry Up! 5. Because my vote has a weight of 10points... ;) So lets get ready to rumble! I will ship with DHL worldwide. You want the stick but don't know how to start?! My outstanding and highly-skilled example was made with MS-Movie-Maker ! - what ? ...this is not enough for you?! Yes, but only if you decrease the min FOV to less than 20 degrees. Here's some calculations to demonstrate: Say you sit rather close, 2' (feet), away from a monitor that spans 25" (inches) in the horizontal dimension. This is probably a bit larger monitor than most people have, and a little closer than most people sit. Anyway, the monitor will span 2*arctan(12.5/24) = 55 degrees. Say that your resolution across this monitor is 1900 pixels. So each pixel represents 3600*20/1900 = 38" (arc seconds), which is slightly smaller than someone with really excellent vision can probably see (though there are reports of some people resolving Venus near closest approach to earth as a crescent... and it is like 40" across then). Someone with normal, 20/20 vision however, can only resolve things down to about 1.5' (arc minutes), or 90" (arc seconds). Sitting two feet away from a monitor that is 25" (inches) across at 1900 pixels, then that is 55 [degrees]*3600 [sec/degree]/1900 = 104" (arc seconds). So each pixel is roughly the same angular size as the smallest thing your eye can resolve. So theoretically: IF: 1) You have a monitor that horizontally spans 25", and is 1900 pixels in this direction 2) You are sitting 2' away from this monitor 3) You have 20/20 vision 4) You zoom in till the horizontal 25" dimension of your monitor represents 20 degrees in the game world THEN: You will have slightly better or equal vision capabilities as a person with excellent vision would have sitting in the cockpit of the real A-10. This however, discounts that the LOD drastically and suddenly scales back at a certain visual size, making things much harder to see. Because of this flaw, you should take what I say above with a grain of salt. A real pilot wouldn't have to worry about LOD and would furthermore, frequently be able to spot vehicles based on dust trails (which do not always appear when they should in DCS) or crushed foliation. However, of course, a real pilot would have to contend with more ground clutter than we do. So the end result is, if you want binocular resolution, you need to increase your max zoom a lot more than the defaults allow.1 point

I would say that all comes fown to personal preference. Next time you strafe without PAC, try to throw in sharp (fairly slight) nose down input at the moment you engage the trigger... With some practice, you will become the PAC :D1 point

I find I have more success if I have PAC enabled and just fight/override it by pulling back in order to walk a line of rounds over the targets. It allows for a much slower traversal over the targets, which means higher density and better pK, without having to rapidly apply a lot of forward-stick at a time when you're already in a dive. Mind you, I haven't spent a lot of time trying it without PAC, so perhaps with practice it's just as compensate for the recoil. But either way you're still having to 'fight' something, and not having the stick jammed forward seems like a good thing. Additionally, I've recently acquired the habit of SAFEing the gun after I make an attack, and only arming it as I roll in. The pitch-down when you enable PAC starts to make a lot of sense when you do that, but I don't know if it's what pilots really do.1 point

Note that for PAC to work properly your airbrakes must be retracted.1 point
