I'm a casual player. I auto start. I check the box 'INS Aligned'. I'm proud of it! It appears I'm also not alone... "The average time a player spends in DCS in one session is 25 minutes" Simon, Global Business Development Director, Eagle Dynamics. Source: I'm also delighted some people enjoy cold & dark starts, and 2hr flights with multiple air-to-air refuelings. It's great this sim has options to support casual players and realism enthusiasts.

Where exactly is this RAZ switch? I can't find it in English or French, nor any mention in the Manual or Guide. I do see a button labelled 'declutter'.

Completed the campaign, so thought I should share some feedback. Pros: * Liked the ship base. * Liked the weather choices mostly. * Voice overs good to have. * Appreciated some of the humor. * Mostly good navigation aides (FM, ADF, flares, smoke). * Glad less 'fly in formation' than UN campaign, formation is painful and not as easy to time accel, if penalized out of formation. * Not too hard difficultly for me, casual player with limited experience and patience. * Nice to have difficult/frustrating tasks first eg. sling load so any repeat gets the frustrating part over nearer the start. * Nice to have sling loads destined for large area like FARP instead of tiny place on hill slope! * Good to see Skip Mission and Last Order in menu. More details about last order eg. repeat full description would help. I only used a couple times though. * Auto startup supported on most missions. Cons: * Broken night missions due to game engine changes. Better to switch those to NVG which is challenge enough. * Long transit time / distance to mission goal and / or home. Better to move ship 5-10 miles closer to land, locate objectives closer. I need missions to max out around 30mins to fit into life. * Locked out player options. Just let payers enable unlimited ammo / fuel, invincible etc. unless absolutely critical to mission. Just makes game more accessible to casual players. * Missions often show limited scripting, either limited by design or game engine, I don't know, but if timing or triggers are off, the immersion disappears fast. * Mixed difficultly. Overall not bad, but some missions very frustrating compared to others. * Aircraft overloaded most missions. Not fun to fly an overloaded heli as it hampers maneuverability. Also not realistic. I sometimes reduced fuel or weapons just to improve flight handling. * F10 radio help could be improved with better description of current objective, or extra radio option with specific directions like heading and distance if lost. Something for all campaign and mission designers to consider: "The average time a player spends in DCS in one session is 25 minutes" Simon, Global Business Development Director, Eagle Dynamics. Can confirm this mission start issue is fixed as of 18 Aug 2020 beta. This mission still has other issues: 1) Objective roof is hard to land on as it 'bounces' the chopper off. 2) Objective roof is hard to land on as night vision is ruined by burning vehicles nearby. 3) Landing on the ship is hard, again as night vision is ruined by flood lights. Watching old Youtube videos, this mission was much more playable with earlier lighting and night vision. At times the choice is be blinded or blind. Likely relates more to game engine than the mission, but there may be some way to tweak lighting conditions for present build.

For what it's worth, I had the same question when buying my first modules. I wanted a fighter and ground attack jet. Ended up with... AV-8B Harrier and Mirage 2000 Why? After reading many many opinions, I went for the planes that were most fun rather than most capable. I'd recommend both these aircraft whole heartedly. Harrier does lack missions and campaigns at this time. Mirage has awesome bundled campaign.

Just tested with Argo Mission 2, tune to 4300 at start. Worked fine, beeps and direction gauge. Check you've clicked the right side dial all the way to 'Home'. After not playing for a while that confused me once, I needed one more click to be at max clockwise turn to Home.
-
I've done that also. I presumed I had damaged the aircraft or done something wrong. Couldn't get it to retract.

Thanks, it is the 'Caution / Advisory Lights'. I didn't notice, because on minimum brightness, it's still blinding at night.

Comms menu stops and starts working intermittently
DimSim replied to ignition22's topic in View and Spotting Bugs
The comms menu should show regardless of radio selection and tuning. Naturally the first thing I tried was switching radios 1/2 and checking frequency in case of something on my side. I also checked for held modifiers like Ctrl, Shift. The issue occurs intermittently and always disappears (fixes) when restarting the mission. With UH1-Huey, I did find that while the 'Communications menu' failed to appear, I could bring up 'Pilot's radio trigger RADIO'. I think (not entirely sure) that in the Mirage 2000, I was able to bring up Radio1, Radio2 when the Comms menu failed. This issue has occurred for me about 4 times ever so far. -
Couple of questions about flying with night vision. 1) It it possible to change the brightness of the cockpit lights such as the Auto pilot set? These are too bright at night and with NVG. 2) Can the Night Vision Light Filter switch be bound to button? I can't find it in the list of input bindings.

If you turn the light dial to minimum (counter clockwise to limit), the dial / knob can get stuck. This seems most pronounced with the 'Casution/Advisory Lights Rheostat' but appears to affect all or most of the console light dials. Expected Behavior: Turn dial to minimum. Later instantly and freely move dial between minimum and maximum limits. Current Behavior: Turn dial to minimum. Later, dial appears stuck. Won't move. However, if you keep trying in the correct direction, it will eventually move. It appears the dial goes beyond zero into negatives without clipping, so the more you turn the dial past minimum, the more you must turn the dial back to reach minimum and beyond. The visible dial does limit, but the internal value appears not to. Repro Steps 1) Grab console light dial 'Casution/Advisory Lights Rheostat' with mouse and move to minimum. Note the direction you are moving the mouse to move the dial counter clockwise toward minimum. 2) Repeat (1), as if to move further. (You will not see the dial move.) 3) Grab again and try to move back toward maximum. Observe the dial is stuck at the minimum value. 4) Grab again and keep trying to move toward maximum. Observe the dial will eventually 'unstick' and move past minimum. The amount you have to move appears to relate to how far you went with (2).

I've just turned the Iranian C-130 away and headed back to rejoin the mission. Nothing happens after this point, not mission progress or interaction. No F10 menu items. I can't progress further. Second play attempt, same behavior. Playing Open Beta version. Edit: Looks like same issue as: Coup d'Etat M03 - Adder refuses to leave Alcatraz I can't find a way to delete this post.

We very much need more radio channel input binding choices. This has been a feature request for at least 4 years. I posted same some months ago. I'm not sure why this would be difficult, time consuming or low priority to implement. Here's some old threads: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=22537 https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=161580

Running latest beta. Wingman was in the air beside me right up to the first mission objective. If he crashed, he must have flown into terrain. We were not taking fire at that time.
-
Was looking forward to finishing the campaign this weekend. Oh well, waiting for the next beta with fix :|

Just finished Coup d'état M01. Noticed half way through my wingman had disappeared. Couldn't rouse him on radio, or see him, or see wreckage, or cycle through aircraft views. At end of mission I see two entries alone in the event list: Chevy 1-2 pilot dead Chevy 1-2 crash No hits, no targets from enemy, nothing. Looks like he had a heart attack and crashed!

Occasionally, when flying the Huey I get screen flashes. It looks like 3/4 the screen left to right is completely black for 1 frame every now and then. Just a flash. I've only ever seen this with Huey and spent equal time flying jets. It can occur both in cockpit or external camera. It's not just the flickering shadow of blades (though could possibly relate to shadows or some graphical feature.) It's irritating, but otherwise appears harmless. Wondering if anyone else has noticed this or found the cause? System is nVidia Geforce 2080 with GSync monitor. No overclocking etc. No issues in other games, and I believe other DCS modules.

I enjoyed this mission. Had a few minor issues: 1) Lead APC drove into the sea. Convoy started moving but slowly and in leap frog like bursts. APC eventually drove out of the sea a few miles behind, caught up and move to lead position, then convoy appeared to proceed normally. 2) Near the end, my task was to fly over the convoy to assess damage. This did not appear to register. I flew back and forth over the convoy barely missing power poles, then tried wider circles, accelerated time etc. Eventually after many minutes when I was flying a wide circle looking for missing vehicles, it suddenly triggered as complete. 3) I swapped out mini guns for rockets at the start because I hate the mini guns. Unfortunately I was asked to fire warning shots at a truck. Not so easy with rockets, mostly because I only started with 7 and had 2 remaining. Thankfully that triggered and the truck stopped. (I also accidentally turned on my door gunner who nearly destroyed the truck before I stopped him. Nice to see door gunners working in this mission. Slick always more fun with door gunners!)

I'm very frustrated after 5th attempt. Have been shot down within seconds, with the 2nd blast from little boats. Loaded with rockets and destroyed the boats, but mission failed as Major was hit in heli. Tried getting copilot to fire so I can fly and avoid fire. Copilot refuses to fire ever. Mounted M60 side guns for same, but door gunners refuse to fire ever. I'm not sure if Rogue1 is supposed to die. On first try he stayed airborne. The next 4 times he was shot down instantly each time. I'm finding missions generally frustrating... long flight times to target area. Little or no support. Copilot and door gunners almost never fire. Aircraft is overloaded weight-wise for most missions. The entire war effort hinges on the pilot of an old Huey? I'm honored. Sorry venting in frustration.

Encountered a few issues with Mission 10, though I did manage to complete it: 1) Vehicles at Batumi airport had no headlights, so can't tell where to land. 2) Roof top landing not detected many times. Mission requires 2x landings. I took off and landed no less than 8x times to trigger the mission forward. 3) Enemies do not fire. During roof top pickup, enemies appeared but did not fire any visible weapons. 4) Enemies do not take damage. I strafed enemies with mini guns and did not injure any with aimed fire. 5) The entire mission is too dark. Yes NVG allowed, but compared to YouTube closer to release, world and NVG lighting is completely different, much harder to see. (Youtube video wasn't just raised gamma, I tried, that just made NVG impossible to use in current version.)

I'm struggling with this mission at present. At first I thought I had to prevent the initial attack, and took off as soon as enemies appeared, however destroying the initial two vehicles prevents the attack from starting and the mission progress stalls. Next my door gunners won't fire. I'm a lousy shot while piloting and the chopper is overloaded weight-wise, so feels terrible to fly. If I could get my door gunners to fire, I'd have a fighting chance at progressing this mission. EDIT: I managed to finish the mission. I swapped out the mini guns for M60s and the side gunners did fire them on occasion, despite my reasonably stable orbits. (I have used door gunners successfully many times.) With mini guns, the door gunners did not engage at all. I've noticed in all these 'old' missions and campaigns, my copilot never engages. Ironically I had to shut down the aircraft to change weapon load-out. I think this is the first mission where the aircraft started hot! Also had trouble with navigation. The Kobuleti airbase has freq 490mhz, which appears to be select-able, yet points in the exact opposite direction. I spent a lot of time trying to find another frequency in case I was mis-reading the dial. Ended up flying by dead reckoning. I mean you can only click with the mouse a few times and you're out of freq range. Additionally, the FM radio beacon did not appear to work at all. I couldn't find 40mhz or 44mhz signals. I have appreciated the ADF and FM navigation, as I'm a casual flyer, so being told frequencies to dial in and following the gauges is fairly straight forward.

Just finished the bundled campaign and very much enjoyed it. Thanks baltic_dragon!

You say rudder, I'm specifically talking toe brakes. I've tried binding different axes on two devices, none animate the toe brakes. Rudder pedals animate fine.
-
I have helmet sound mode enabled, but the engine sounds in general are so quiet I often switch to external view to check the engine is on.
-
If I bind a joystick axis to the wheel brakes, I don't see the rudder pedal brakes animate in the cockpit. If I bind a button, I do see them animate. I only own the AV8B as reference. It animates with both button or axis bound. The axis bound brakes definitely work. The animation helps verify the braking action though, and the correct axis direction. I had to flip direction for the Harrier. Is this a bug or omission, or am I not binding correctly?
