In the video below you see an ASU unit used to airstart an engine on an Airbus A330, with the two smaller airtubes going in the plane's belly. However, there is another unit after it driving two much larger airtubes. Does anyone know what that is for? I see this once in a while at the airport but I do not know what they are doing. Are they cycling cabin air?

^^Truly great stuff! Reminds me of the "Easy Radar" in the first Lockon versions! Hardcore simmers did away with it as "unrealistic arcade game", now this is used to train real Air Combat :D

Yes 2.1 is a real winner for me! Amazing visuals and on my rig - rather a medium end machine - I do not even notice a relevant performance drop, it is is still totally playable! Great work!

Is there not also a problem of to little explosive effect of the .50 cal rounds in game? I usually hit gound targets, it takes me often 12-15 direct hits before I can set a truck on fire. If you take into account you can disable a truck with one shot out of a M109 Barret rifle, I find the 6*.50 cal of the DCS P-51D absolutely underpowered.

F-35 + Aegis intercept cruise missile This is what F-35 is all about:

But the lock problem is still real. Very difficult to get the locking tone, seems like the missile doesn't uncage really and has very narrow field of view.

I must say I get good results with the P5 (in single player that is). I never try to shoot it head-on but try to get into the bandits six and find the good angle. That's the whole fun of it. I guess it's way more difficult in multiplayer.

For me, what I like in the fast jets (F-5E, M-2000C and Viggen) is the speed! I love the speed! I'm also a big rockets / heaters fan. I like the AIM-9P as you have to get in the bogey's six and try to get the right fire angle. But as the pure joy of flying is concerned, nothing but then really nothing can beat the Warbirds for me. They are the ultimate planes ever made imho.

Today I flew (as a passenger) for the first time with a brand new Sukhoi SSJ-100 from SN Brussels Cityline. Great aircraft! Much better than the olkd Avro RJ100 it is replacing.I found it more spacious than eg Embraer 175. It has single aisle, 5 abreast layout.

Great! US Marines want more F-5's: They must have played F-5E3 in DCS, can't blame them!!!

This explains a lot to me, I was already thinking why don't they just go to lower altitude and put of the mask? Didn't know the aviators wear the mask always. Tom Cruise didn't for sure :D

So if I'm right I'ld better wait with patching anything until the next 2.0 patch comes out. Otherwise I would render my Mig-21 in 2.0 inoperative.

Maybe the problem is the maintainers? Retiring a type entirely means saving on maintainers, who can be redirected to F-35 ? They wanted to do the same with A-10C, but then everytime they propose to retire an old airframe some nostalgia sets in!

I think everyone agrees that F-22 should have been the replacement, and cutting short their production was an incredible mistake. But there are only 187 of them, that is less than 4 per US state? Those who cut this short dealt the USAF a blow that no enemy would ever be able to pull off. It would more than make sense to fill the enormous gaps by using F-16's coming free due to F-35 replacement for ANG air defense.

I think there might be a problem with both part obsolescence and airframe fatigue on the F-15C fleet. The F-16C replacement option seems a realistic and affordable scenario to me, as there are already plans to introduce SABR AESA radars on the F-16. Flying aircraft until they literally fall apart would serve no ones interest I guess. As long as we can keep flying the fantastic F-15C in DCS, I'm happy :)

I second that, the vanilla Frog is an absolute joy to fly! Others I really like to fly are F-5E, Mirage, P-51D. I must confess though that I fly them like an airliner, I almost never search for the flight boundaries and keep it very safe. Viggen seems a future winner to me, but FM isn't final yet so I shouldn't include it here. At the moment turn performance is abysmal.

I noticed an extreme performance drop when I mount the 150 Gal center fuel tank. Is this normal or excessive? It's a cut by at least 60-70 mph.

Anyone noticed the AI Viggens dispense flares even without the pod ?
