  1. Introducing the DCShelin Guide (pron. "Dischelin") -- just like the real Michelin Guide, it gives you brief, bite-size reviews of DCS World aircraft, campaigns, and terrains to help you decide what to buy. DCShelin Stars are awarded sparingly, only to the very best. Download it here: http:// https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RGcCgoxEe-YLahGk0w7YzLyN11kdZUam/view?usp=sharing Backstory -- I'm in the process of completing every campaign for every aircraft in DCS World. It's a very long road, but I've made some progress already. Over the course of completing these campaigns, I started writing quick reviews of them, in the style of the Michelin Guide. I decided, why not go the extra mile? Who wouldn't want to see which modules are worthy of a Michelin Star? The guide starts with reviews of the vehicles but it's the campaigns I most enjoyed reviewing. There isn't a lot of good information out there on which campaigns are worth playing, and I hope this helps. "Why isn't the Harrier/Viggen/etc. in here?" -- Like any good reviewer, I only stuck to those aircraft I've actually put significant hours into, in order to give you an authentic opinion. If you have a lot of hours in your favorite aircraft and it's not in this list, and you can write gud enlglihs maintaining the compact, rich cadence of a Michelin review, please contribute a few sentences about it! Be honest and unbiased in your critique. "Why isn't my favorite campaign in here?" -- As above, I only review those campaigns I have completed in their entirety. Some campaigns can take months of practice to beat so it's a slow road. But rest assured, if a campaign is reviewed in the guide, it's a review from start to finish. See the previous paragraph if you've completed the campaign and want to contribute a review. "I vehemently disagree with a review!" -- That's fair, and probably likely. There are so many opinions on so many modules, you're bound to object to one of them. I hope you understand this is a book of opinions, not facts. And maybe I really am wrong on something, and 99% of the community agrees that the Hawk T.1A was the best DCS World module or whatever. That's fine. My opinions can change. "I found a factual error." -- Please let me know! If I said an aircraft has a PFM when it doesn't, got an early-access tag wrong, or the manufacture year of an aircraft wrong, please let me know and I'll fix it. "No three-star reviews?" -- There's just not enough DCS World modules (at least, compared to the number of restaurants in the world) to really justify that level of discrimination. One-star and two-star is enough for now. Like the real Michelin guide, a module has to be exemplary to earn even one star. A couple other points. Firstly, I'm not on GAW or Blue Flag 12 hours a day like a lot of you. I know there's a lot of min-maxing around which aircraft to fly against what that's insular to the multiplayer persistent server community. That's not emphasized in these reviews, though I do touch on multiplayer a bit. Secondly, my play-style is strongly procedural and realism-oriented. I gravitate towards aircraft and campaigns that capture the whole zeitgeist of being a combat pilot, boring stuff included. Hence why the FC3 aircraft aren't even in the Guide yet, and why, for example, the A-10C gets two coveted stars when most people find it far less capable than the F/A-18C. Capable is one part of the spectrum. I don't mind flying an underpowered brick if in doing so I FEEL like a warrior and get a complete, polished experience, and access to quality content. The F/A-18C gets one star (which is no small feat) because what it does have right now is top-notch, but it has a long road ahead of it still.
  2. 64/64 server slots filled approx. 31 seconds after the server came online! Oh well
  3. DCS: World - P-51D Challenge Campaign - Mission 24: Putting It All Together I After literally MONTHS of playing this mission over and over, I finally came up with a solution that works! The rules are: no cheating (no invulerability, no editing the mission file), but exploiting triggers in the mission is OK. I figure if they're going to put me in a P-51D and expect me to do five missions in one, with 1960s-era AAA and a wingman who lawn darts every time, I get to exploit the trigger programming. Anyway, this video is the result of months of practice and honing my technique. If anyone out there is stuck on this mission, try this! (And prepare to practice it over and over.)
  4. Nope, just ran it again and dropped by Paveway on the bridge. No change.
  5. Ohhhh, wait. I changed the load to GBU-31s to drop the bridge. Looks like maybe your trigger only works with GBU-12s?
  6. Just tried it with the latest beta, same issue. The helicopters dropped troops off at MONSTER, the troops entered the camp, and then nothing happened. Dropped the bridge and delegated the destruction of all the AAA sites to my wingman.
  7. Hey, just got my UFC. Unfortunately the Raygun exporter Lua doesn't seem to be compatible with SimpleRadio Standalone. Something about lDevice being a number, or not being a number. I can go try again to get the exact error.
  8. Ka-50, Deployment campaign, Mission #10. Happened as I was engaging a BMP with rockets. Crash log and track: https://mega.nz/#!a54nXaBa!lJcVvw2Tu42dFzw2imArRXr8ntBpIETGqUjoQKPmODU
  9. Small bug, not sure if it’s your mod or DCS. The height and velocity warnings on the HUD are green regardless of day/night setting.
  10. Hey devrim, all the cockpit buttons turn orange when you turn on the instrument lights using the button on the cyclic. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. Just a quick plug to switch to ovGME when you get a chance; it's much better.
  12. Yep it works now. Next issue for missions 7 and 8 is the units are sometimes impossible to hit when trees are set to maximum... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. Awesome tool! Works great in 2.5. Is it possible to make it so the text fades out after a period, say a few minutes? It's a little weird to have one person's comment up for an entire stream.
  14. I'm not sure, but I think the only difference between 2.2 open alpha and 2.5 is the addition of the Caucasus map (plus minor bugfixes and changes). So I wouldn't recommend holding your breath.
  15. OK, so a quick mea culpa: I'm definitely trying to bite off more than I can chew. DCS is usually rock solid for me, but I was giving all of the following a try: DCS World 1.5.8 running in VR (HTC Vive) TacView 1.7b5 with real time data streaming from DCS World OBS Studio with a two-screen setup (half DCS, half TacView) streaming to Twitch OVRdrop overlaying my Twitch chat into the VR world I was giving this combo a try. It introduced noticeable head-tracking lag into the system which was making me slowly sick, but otherwise everything seemed to actually work, which was amazing. About halfway through though, DCS crashed with the error in the subject. There are a lot of moving parts here, but maybe it's something that Eagle can look into. I don't know. Attachments aren't working, so here's the crash dump: https://mega.nz/#!65I0TLwL!UlKwRlWgWhnfx_r9qRRZJ6t9l1ySiavkncwSonHVybI
  16. OK, tried on the latest 1.5.8 open beta, and the issue has reverted back to how it was -- namely, the UH-1s just sit on the ground with their engines off and never take back off. This is strange as the "UN Pilot" UH-1 campaign had a similar issue (engines off upon landing) but it's fixed in the 1.5.8 open beta...
  17. Just tried mission six under 1.5.8 hotfix 2. The lead pilot lands his Huey at the LZ as per the mission, then his position lights briefly come on and off, and then his engine stops. Not sure if the engine stopped because of a scripting error or because of damage. Sometimes the AI will turn on their position lights the moment they get damaged and "decide" to RTB. Could be that. In any case, mission six still unplayable.
  18. Tried on release 1.5.8 hotfix 2 and it's even worse now. No enemies spawn in the mission, there's no units in the AO save for Hellraiser 1 and 2 (UH-1s), which just sit on the road forever.

  20. I think Ranger’s comment “submitted to ED” means we still have to wait for the update to be released. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  21. Hi, I'm on the 6th mission of the Georgian Hammer (with CA) campaign, and DCS World 1.5.7 crashes when I attempt to enter the cockpit. The relevant error seems to be: Heliport "188" parameters are not consistent. Heliport was not created. crash.zip
  22. OK, my life's goal these days is to work through all the included campaigns in every module, one mission at a time, with a 100% success rate. (I'm relying missions if I die.) I'm currently stuck on the Stillness in Time mission "Mountain Ghosts" (the one where you have to intercept the two groups of 4xKa-50s and help the armor take up positions around Beslan). So brass tacks: Is this mission friggin' impossible or am I a noob? (You can tell me learn2play if that's the case; just be honest.) On the blue side we've got you and your wingman in MiG-21s, and a pair of Mirage 2000s for escort (plus the armor and Apaches). On the red side they've got a pair of F-16s, a pair of MiG-29s, and a pair of MiG-21s (plus the Ka-50s). Mission success requires that both groups of Ka-50s be attrited at least 75%, and all three fighter groups be destroyed. Bonus points for keeping the blue helicopter and armor groups alive. Let's just start with the basics: How do you FIND the helicopters? It's night, they're way too low to be seen by radar (even with low altitude filtering on), and AWACS won't guide you to them. I had to turn on labels (and swallow a huge shame pill) just to be able to intercept the helicopters at night. I changed out the default load out for 8x R-60s instead, which gave me enough missiles to pick of three helicopters from each group, leaving me with two missiles remaining if everything went perfectly. (And the R-60s are weak tea, so more than one missile is sometimes required.) But now you're left with three groups of enemy fighters. I'm just not seeing how the math works out here. 2xMiG-21s 2xM2000Cs vs. 2xMiG-21s 2xMiG-29s 2xF-16As (and I'm already down to at most two missiles). Has anyone beat this mission? Did they do it with labels off?? What's the secret? I feel like I'm using all the capability of my aircraft that I can think of -- am I missing anything?
  23. An update, the errors stop occurring if I disable my HTC Vive and use TrackIR instead. So it might have something to do with the fact that both TacView and DCS are rendering 3D views.
  24. Hey Vyrtuoz, glad to see real-time telemetry is out! It was working great for me a couple months back but now it's causing DCS to hang after about a minute or two of flight. I tried both the latest 1.6.1 release and 1.6.2 beta to no avail. Troubleshooting ideas? First I get long (10-20 second) stutters and then eventually the whole app freezes and hangs. Sometimes TacView will crash too.
  25. Updated to fix Static ATC voice commands and fix a crashing bug when viewing with VAC Builder.
