Nice stuff. I got a similar setup. I found that I needed to drill the ends on the damper quite a bit to get rid of any stickiness. Had to drain the oil and use some MOLYKOTE 44 medium grease instead. Now they are buttersmooth

I'm a little curious on how the cyclic gimbal system is set up and how it's connected to the hydraulic system . I'm modding a stick and I'm not sure if I want to mount t the dampers in 90 degree with one damper for X and one for y, or to set them in a 45 degree in front. Any pics or explanations would be great

Been messing around with my FFB2 lately and i was never happy flying the Huey with the force trim on or off. On is flimsy and off is just too loose. So i knew i had some dampers lying around that i was supposed to use before but the project died out. But let me tell you the feel of the stick now on the first test was beyond my wildest dreams, i thought id ****ed it up and drilled to much of the rubber out on the dampers but it was great! The stick stays where you put it but it has just enough friction to feel nice and fluid and you can move it around with just your fingers. My hovers have gone from ok to freaking amazing in one go! Level flight has also improved by miles. Thing is before, with and without force trim it was extremely hard to keep the stick in one spot, even when you got your hand on your foot (who knows the word for thigh) And guess what, you also got force trim! Now i just need to find the right balance If you have been pondering making this, just do it! Im pretty sure it was some pocket bike dampers i got, i drained the oil and put Molykote 44 medium in there. I think to add friction there is a metal ring with rubber on it inside there, you can add tape to increase if you take to much off on the end caps. ill be experimenting a bit. It not finished yet as i need to properly mount the dampers but from the test tonight ill be flying a loooooot tomorrow

Big fps hit after windows 10 upgrade or other bottleneck
trigen replied to trigen's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Thanks for the replies chaps. Turns out I had a knee board addition in my 3 screen setup file that screwed the fps. Wasn't aware of the xbox recorder so I'll check that regardless. I got the 4 gb 270x btw For the ram, the only issue seems to be microstutters at anything below rock solid 60 fps but I don't notice it much during missions/training as I'm quite busy. I'll be upgrading when Amd release their new stuff so I hope it will be gone then. -
I7950 3.8ghz Amd 270x 6gb Ram (i know its not much but ive never had any issues) Dcs world on SSD Windows 10 pro upgrade Dcs world 1.5.5 Thought id try windows 10 to see if Dcs 2 would gain any performance. Without changing anything im suddenly down to 22-24 fps in dcs 1.5 over a locked 31 normally and guessing it lies around 35 unlocked. I got the 3 monitor and 3 screen setup in game. My graphic card is around 85-90% and all 4 cpu cores are at around 60% Same fps at 3.8 and 4ghz I seem to be stuck at these frame rates and i get the same even with everything set to low, it will only change if i tax it to much. Is windows 10 such a horrible performance eater or where is the bottleneck here. Anyone have some experience with this?

Any ETA on a working FFB system? As it is now it seems impossible to get a ms ffb2 to work properly, seems to be reversed regardless of settings. The hat trimmer x axis is also reversed

Got a modded FFB2 with warthog grip and a and counter weight. Im a little curious about the force trim in DCS. On DCS Huey the issue im having mostly is that the stick will trim but always drop a bit forward. The back force point when you trim will be where you let go of the trim it seems instead of that being the center point. Is there any fix for this? everything is linear on the curves. Another thing, ive noticed on the dual FFB2 mod that the stick seems fairly locked to where you let go of the trim, i find that my own is fairly loose around the point and it takes very little to move it around. Is this difference on BS2 or should it be the same as the huey. Id love to be able to force trim and have the stick to actually stay exactly where i put it while still being able to move around. Any tips are welcome

Joystick without springs and FFB?
trigen replied to Holton181's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Apologies for the late reply. Talking about the center position of the stick so you were correct there. The pots wont react at all so you got some play which will get larger with the extension. Is it a huge issue for normal flight, no not really but with hovers around center i find it to be quite a nuisance. In the meantime i've read about someone that connected the pots to a Bodnar board while still keeping it connected to the controller for the MS ffb to get rid on the DZ and gain more accuracy so that's a good way to sort the issue and still retain the FFB. I happen to have the Bodnar board but i fried my stick so ill have to wait until the end of the coming week to test it. Out of curiosity, do you have the red trigger or the grey one, perhaps there is some difference on the dead zone size? I got the grey one myself -
Selling my FSSB R1 for the cougar (not the cougar itself) as I only fly warbirds and helis. It's in Norway and I wish to get 150 euro + shipping, aprox 36-40 euro

Noticed this Ms ffb on ebay, only 24. 99. Only one bidder ;) Basically I got a hold of one in Norway so if anyone care to outbid me on this one go for it. 24. 99 + 50 dollar In freight with import yikes Hopefully I'm not breaking any forum rules http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Microsoft-SideWinder-Force-Feedback-2-Joystick-/142201196991?hash=item211bda11bf:g:k30AAOSw2xRYRIOb&autorefresh=true

Modded my ms ffb with the resistor mod to gain power but after this the stick shakes violently when i plug the power in. If i hold the stick and block the IR it stops but its stuck to the left. I cant see anything on the powerboard thats wrong and ive checked for short but i cant find anything. any clue how to fix this issue? This is the mod https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=152723

Just got the module. First impressions! She seems super easy to fly, really nice and stable. Really interesting effect once you get some speed and start to turn. Takeoffs and landing had me a little worried from what i read but had no issues whatsoever on the free flight scenario, Straight up and off(light on the wheels and back right cyclic etc of course) . Ground effect hovers are great and hovers in general are like relaxing on the cough with a cup of tea. Cant wait to check out sling loads. Gonna be hours of fun with this one! One long manual too and ive just covered the basic aerodynamics so i got a lot to go.

Joystick without springs and FFB?
trigen replied to Holton181's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Do you have any sort of extension on it? With my 35ish cm one i have around .3 to half a cm play in the middle. Just checked at the base and its about 1mm mid stick, at least on mine. For me that's a bit to much for something i fly a lot around the center (with the extension), i tend to hover and slingload a lot. for forward flight you can live with it. Id love to use it but the Warthog just feels so much better -
run.exe dissapeared - not able to install or update
trigen replied to maks's topic in Installation Problems
I have this issue also. I can be in game and it will suddenly crash and I find run.exe to be gone. Sometimes the Exe file will be there for a day and the next 2 hours. I suspect is a disk issue since I can't copy the file to that folder anymore but it works after a restart. I'm also running bitdefender and a Samsung evo 850 that's about 4 months Old. Really strange issue,. If I use the space on the had with another game I have no issues. I can't be sure that it's using the same sectors though -
Joystick without springs and FFB?
trigen replied to Holton181's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
Force feedback would be the absolute best for this of course but once you put some extension on the ms ffb2 the deadzone in the middle is huge and not great for helicopter flying. So while this method is quite good, the best way if you dont have a FFB system is a counter weight so it balances perfectly. The price on the Cobra is actually really good and it shouldnt need much of a counterweight to keep it balanced. The problem is that you cant keep it on your desk anymore, something that makes it a deal breaker for many. Personally i use a Warthog with a 36cm curved extension and while it more or less stays where you put it the gimbal feel is horrible and it cant be balanced with a weight. I would give a lot for a high precision FFB stick Nice mod by the way -
Razer OSVR is upgradable for now and who knows, it might stay that way for the consumer version. Would keep an eye on it

You guys are making it really hard to choose thats for sure, the excitement on both sides are great but the Rift is inches ahead. Cancelled my Vive for now and with Rift order due to ship in August . I got some time figure out things out. And while extremely hard im tempted to wait for a touch bundle and hold my comp upgrade for AMD Zen and Vega. If i can manage the wait is another matter!
-
Thanks for your info Shabi. The Rift really seems like a better choice for sims at this point. I really hope it can be ironed out somewhat in the future but i have to admit im thinking of cancelling my Vive order as my main thing would be flight and racing sims. Im not sure the brightness and larger FOV on the vive will outweigh the ATW benefits of the Rift.

Saitek Pro Flight Rudder pedals seem to have died
trigen replied to ctguy1955's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Same thing happened with my pedals so i stuck a bodnar board on it, works great -
This might be a solution for it but its graphics are said to be on par with console graphics. Its also fully wireless so i wonder what the battery time would be http://sulon.com/#sectone

Wish to buy a Cougar or Warthog handle for a reasonable price as i have some issues with my own. I could be interested in any plastic f16 stick. I would really like to keep the TM programming if possible but if the price is good i can use other software.

Warthog vs MS FFB2 - new stick advice
trigen replied to Reflected's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Using a cougar handle on the ffb2 also and find it to be fantastic. I wish it wasn't that heavy though but if you stick some tape around the ffb shaft (so it fits) and remove the Base from the cougar handle and place it on the ffb, it will still be quite strong. Just be real careful with the wiring if you do, almost killed my stick with a short
