Not necessary. You would use Reset each time when slaving to datalink targets.

now available When's black-shark 3 coming?
Taz1004 replied to hawa0835's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
My hope is that they will at least fix what's broken when they update it to BS3. Right now, they don't even bother. Datalink doesn't work, AI wingman doesn't work, ATGM pretty much only functioning weapon because rocket blast radius is ridiculous... -
Botched right engine cold start – how to correct and restart?
Taz1004 replied to Razor18's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Once you realized the mistake, you should've closed the Right engine shutoff valve (red lever), press STOP button while the APU/Turbo Gear switch is still on Right engine. Let the RPM drop back down to 0 and then continue with correct procedure. -
Track would be better at making comparison but I just played your two videos side by side. And looking at your bank angle, it looked like you were making wider turn at 24kts. Which was the question. Do you turn early, make tighter/wider turn, or correct after 90. I would change my turn too but if you expect one and encounter another, always seem to make more drastic correction late. Thanks for making the video.

Thanks for making that video but it's not what I was looking for. I want to compare the location of the carrier after rolling out between fast and slow carrier. And in this video, you are aware of the carrier speed. Many don't seem to understand the purpose of original question. That is if you're expecting fast carrier and encounter a slow one or vice versa. The campaign I was playing, Looking Glass V2 from User files, had 27kts carrier with 15kts wind. So I got used to that until Mission 9 where mission designer made the carrier 12kts with 15kts wind. But I was expecting same condition as prior missions so I had to do what Streamandriver did in page 1. Zigzag on final leg. That is what my question was. Again, sorry for keep brining up Stearmandriver but he was only one so far to do what I asked for and his comment after trying it.
-
That wasn't F you but sorry you took it that way. Question was simple one which was answered on first page. It went vague when few who didn't understand the question started telling me about irrelevant topic and me trying to explain why it's irrelevant. But continue to tag me and tell me it's "flawed" or "doesn't make sense". Even referencing "wrong" example I posted to tell me it's "wrong". But still reluctant to provide any track.

Already has been. No idea why this thread keeps going. You can continue to discuss other parts of landing but don't have to keep tagging me.

More RAM or faster RAM? What affects performance more?
Taz1004 replied to JetCat's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
These are the videos that convinced me to get higher clock speed rather than lower clock speed with lower latency. But again, to original question, faster RAM only comes into play if you have enough RAM. And 16GB isn't enough for DCS. -
All these arguing will be pointless only if the ones who say speed doesn't matter actually provide track. No, not another video tutorial. A direct comparison between fast and slow boat with everything else being same. Only Stearmandriver was able to so far and actually answered my question. And I thought I clarified several times that I did that in attempt to simplify the question. Just as your Wright flyers and F16 example are exaggerated but gets point across.

In your case, more RAM. 16GB simply isn't enough. -
F/A-18C Hornet or F-14A/B Tomcat? I can't decide which one :-o

It's more of immersion issue for me. -

You can try any module for 2 weeks. Trial licenses F-14 is great. Heatblur did a great job. However, I just can't get used to Jester menu. And I can't use voice commands. If neither of those are problem with you, F-14 is great module. -
Right. And THAT was the question. How do you determine the condition so I can correct it. Do you turn early or do you correct after 90 degrees. And this question that doesn't make sense has been answered. I'm asking about how to correct it and some people just teling me I'm not correcting. That would be cheating too tho no?
-
Lol, I know what you wrote too. I was simply saying it's irrelevant to my "initial" question. As YOU said, the question that doesn't make sense has been answered by 4 different people. But alas... you did NOT understand my question nor read anything "I" said lol.
-
Sever? I you mean server, initial question was about single player. I don't play multiplayer. And I don't open mission editor everytime to check carrier speed. And if there is wind and for WOD to be constant, shouldn't the carrier be moving one way only? The missions I asked about in initial question had 11kts carrier with 12kts headwind which is default DCS supercarrier mission template. And campaign I downloaded had 27kts carrier with 15kts headwind. Can you calculate WOD without carrier speed? Can I trust that all mission designers would adhere to 25-50 WOD? And do RL carrier always maintain 25-30kts WOD? Once again, WOD is different question than what I'm asking. Look at what happened to Stearmandriver. He tried to match WOD with faster/slower wind at different carrier speed. And the position of carrier was still different. That is what I'm asking.
-
Thanks, that's consistent with my findings. And after lots of practice at 20-27kts, I learned to estimate the carrier speed based on the distance to the carrier after rolling out on final leg. And compensate using your method.
-
Thanks. I know it's not realistic but I was trying to keep wind out of the equation to simplify my question. Wanted to focus on the carrier speed only. And the screenshots I posted are not what I usually do. I was told to ignore the carrier speed and only focus on the crotch and that's what I tried in those shots. Basically, I was asking about lining up based on carrier speed but I was getting tutorial AFTER lining up. I tried to expalin that with the diagram but again was told to "just try it". Which is what I did. I've been practicing at 20kts over 100 times since this post. And to me, it's still a big difference between 20kts and 27kts. At 27kts, even after I'm lined up to centerline after rollout, AND make corrections so FPM is at the crotch all the way to landing, runway would still be in slight angle by the time I land altho not as much as before. Alternatively, if I aim for where the runway would be rather than where it is throughout final leg, I can land at 27kts perfectly aligned. But this is because I know the speed already. I'd be great if you can actually help me with a track file at 27kts. And how do you achieve that consistently between 11kts and 27kts carrier if you are not aware of its speed?

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
Taz1004 replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
No. It doesn't go into SavedGames. It goes into main DCS install path. ie. D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Bazar\shaders\ -
You could also try the link cable between the base stations to see if that's issue. I'm still on Vive Pro 1 but using the cable did help quite a bit with stability and no more "Cannot see each other" messages. And it allows me to point the base stations more towards me rather than having it point at each other. If you use cable, base stations need to be A and B rather than B and C.

Most of the Hornet AAR tutorial I found said same thing. Focus on the pylon and keep the basket in peripheral vision. Which wouldn't apply to Harrier either as basket wouldn't even be in peripheral vision. I think problem with those advices "for me" was if I focus on the pylon and basket in peripheral vision, there's nothing to indicate my own movement other than cockpit frame in my peripheral vision which wasn't accurate enough feedback. So I tried the reverse. I keep my focus on the FPM and the tanker in the peripheral vision. Basket would also be in focus as it'd be right next to FPM. I didn't mean I don't look at the tanker at all. I mean, it's actually harder to not see it. I keep it in my peripheral view especially after contact. And I think it also depends on the equipment. Depth perception I believe helps a lot in VR. Better HOTAS helps of course. Point was not to frustrate yourself with method that doesn't work for you and experiment to find one that does.

I think the difference is exactly what @Nealius said. You're used to higher speed carrier and misjudged the slower carrier. I was the opposite. I'm assuming you made the wider turn and then sharper turn with 7kts because the carrier was not where you expected it to be with slower speed and then "corrected" it? It's just that you're calling it "correction" and I was calling it "compensating". But as Nealius said, it's probably best to practice with faster carrier as it seems easier to correct for slower speed. Thanks again.
-
Thanks. That helped a lot. Speed difference was less than I was testing at but still, I think you are showing that the approach is different based on carrier speed. With 7kts carrier, you rolled out to the left of the carrier at 1nm. And then adjusted to the right. Tacview at the bottom shows you were making much wider turn in the beginning (1). But with 19kts carrier, you rolled out much to the right at 1nm. Flying towards BRC for a while and then turned towards the runway. You were not lined up with the centerline until 0.6nm. Which make sense. And here's tacview showing making much wider turn at beginning for slower carrier (1). Sorry for disecting your landings!
-
Well, that basically answers my question. Then next question is how do I determine carrier speed?
-
YES. Finally someone who understands. In the 27kts example above, I kept FPM on top right of the runway all the way. But as you said, the ship drifts to the right too fast at 27kts. And if I keep myself aligned on the centerline or the top right of runway all the way, I end up chasing the carrier to the BRC. Because the important difference here is that I roll out at 0.4nm at 11kts and 0.7nm at 27kts. Almost double the distance to accumulate the error in angle. Again, I don't think making adjustments is the issue. I wouldn't have landed and caught the wires if I didn't make adjustments. I don't know why everyone assumes I'm just flying straight after rollout. Is it because I drew the diagram with straight line? Once again. I CAN land at 27kts. It's the angle at which I land at 27kts. A track file of 11kts vs 27kts would be helpful. No wind and same approach until the final leg. Anyone.

In-Game Scratchpad Mod Available - Works Great In VR!
Taz1004 replied to Fubarbrickdust's topic in Virtual Reality
I love the new mechanics. Great job. But is aircraft specific working correctly? I thought A10C only uses DDM and MGRS. But it shows DMS and MGRS. Basically same as Hornet. A10C-2 Hornet. Same as A10C. Does Hornet use MGRS?
