Add quick toggles for DoF and motion blur effects
Taz1004 replied to zmz125000's topic in DCS Core Wish List
You can use ReShade DOF filter. -
Updated 6/8/22/23: For compatibility with DCS 2.8.6.41066 In single player, it always annoyed me that I can't read the briefing during ingress without pausing. With this mod, game will not pause when you open menu window (ESC key) You always have the option to manually pause the game. IC Safe. INSTALL: Install with Mod Manager or overwrite the corresponding file in main DCS install path. No Pause Mission Briefing (digitalcombatsimulator.com)

Altho GTX 1660 is newer than GTX 1080, it only has 6GB of VRAM which is your biggest issue. DCS needs minimum of 8GB VRAM for high graphic quality. You should turn off anything that taxes frame buffer like SSAO, SSLR, and Shadows to Low.

You can possibly have different games talk to each other. Games can output data and communication real time. If someone playing ground unit FPS game calls for air strike, that command can be imported into DCS to trigger a radio message. Then simple flight and weapon trajectory can be exported back to the FPS game. In a way DCS already does this on Multiplayer. Sending and receiving data between clients. Doesn't even need to be same game engine as long as it can translate the data. Detail level of the maps don't have to match perfectly but needs to be fairly close however. You wouldn't be able to communicate description of the target but only through coordinates and smoke markers etc. But again, a wishlist. Just need a 3rd party developer Or could be part of dynamic campaign.

I wish. But not possible. -
Labels? Try LShift + F10

Looks like you burned the laser.

Maddening problem happening with my joystick control files in DCS
Taz1004 replied to Boomer_G-Loc's topic in General Bugs
You can rename the controller in registry. \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM\ And click on each of the folders to find the VKB and rename the OEMName Can't guarantee if this will mess up anything else however. -
As cool as AR looks, it locks you into an airframe. I probably would never go that route.

Is your system time and time zone correct?

I don't know why you would flip switches by accident. It wouldn't happen any more than you would in real plane. And as the kid showed in the video, you can have gesture to control clicks. Point with your index finger and moving thumb would activate click. There are other more streamlined designs out there too but all of them are still early stage. I'd expect much more refined designs in about a year. I actually like using VR controller and the VR hand in DCS. Only problem is that I can't grab HOTAS with controllers in hand. And it gives me no feedback when I make contact. VR glove would solve both. This is another design based on the Lucas design. Again, I'd do it only on index and maybe thumb only for DCS. But need to buy a 3D printer first...

Just add slight moon light.

This guy's design is becoming popular and there are more and more variation of it. Some with haptic feedback and wireless. I'm thinking for DCS, it doesn't even need all 5 fingers. Just index finger which could make it a lot simpler and lighter. I'd make one if I had a 3D printer.

You might wanna ask in different section. This is VR section and don't want to get it mixed up.

If your original SteamVR per-app resolution was 3000x3000 per eye for example, if you set FSR/NIS to 0.8, then the game is rendering at 2400x2400 per eye. Then it is upsampled to 3000x3000 by FSR/NIS algorithm. It is this upsampling algorithm that's supposed to be "smart" and better than just blowing up the image and therefore giving you better performance with little quality loss. But there will be quality loss nonetheless. So I recommend compensating for it by increasing the SteamVR final resolution. In this example, 3000/0.8=3750 would be your upper limit. And it's about finding balance between performance and quality. There will be no benefit from decreasing SteamVR resolution. If you're gonna decrease, decrease the FSR/NIS renderscale. Not SteamVR. I personally use much more aggressive setting at 0.67 renderscale. And then increase SteamVR resolution higher. I would also disable its built in sharpening. And use reshade sharpening instead.

Thanks Flappie. Are you referring to the glowing part or the purpose of the smoke? Original question was what the pancake smokes are for? Is it supposed to be this? And if so, shouldn't they be spawning away from the ground unit as in the photo? Currently they spawn directly above the ground unit.

Rift S resolution you have is not per eye. Quest 2 is much better in almost every way.

UPDATED TO V16 for DCS 2.7 12/7/2021 Helo dust glowing at night fixed. Affects day time slightly. Also affects smoke sreen deployed by ground units. IFLOLS reduced for Stennis. IC Fail version ONLY. Doesn't apply to IC Safe version. Larger ground glow from fires. Duration of the glow also lengthened from 100 seconds to 180 seconds. IC Fail version ONLY. Doesn't apply to IC Safe version. IFLOLS glow also edited for Supercarrier. Can be downloaded from separate thread. Supercarrier IFLOLS- 840 replies

This is reduced/removed IFLOLS glow FOR SUPERCARRIER ONLY. Only one texture file is edited but due to the way DCS works, I have to replace the whole 500MB texture zip file. This is NOT IC SAFE. Reduced probably works better for 2D and high resolution HMD such as G2 or Vive Pro 2. Removed I found to be better for older HMD with lower resolution. I use Removed on my Vive Pro 1. DOWNLOAD For DCS 2.7: Reduced Removed

Helo dust are doing same thing. All smoke of that type is doing same thing. And I'm pretty sure this didn't happen before the new Sun and Moon.
-
I put some ground units against each other and about 50% of the times, they create this circular pancake smoke. Is that supposed to be smoke screen? But they glow white hot at night. Mission file NightGround.miz

You have use mouse checked in VR options?

Auto Turn to Target: why is the target always slightly to the left?
Taz1004 replied to Hive's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Vikhr firing circle is where the Vikhr is looking. And it will be to right and left of your target depending on which side Vikhr will be firing next. If turn to target always matches with Vikhr, you'd be constantly rotating left and right. Just set Vikhr firing mode to manual. And same with OP, if turn to target is setup for cannon, you'd still have to use rudder if firing left side Vikhr. You just have to get used to using rudder constantly. If any of you are using twist rudder, try switching to a rotator or slider on your HOTAS as rudder.
