MIG29/SU27/SU33 HUD IAS or TAS in Search
Robin_Hood replied to IvanK's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
I'm sure the devs are aware of that ;) But as I understand it, the Su-27 and MiG-29 share the same avionics, so they had to make a choice as to the airplane whose avionics is "accurately" implemented Same thing goes for the MFD -
I would think it is normal for the Su-33 to have a little less range, considering it is heavier. However, I will look into it. I had made a few pretty useful endurance charts for 1.12, I'll take a look if they are off the mark, now, and by how much

With Vista or Seven, be careful not installing it in Program Files, seems to be issues with that folder ;) Apart from that, a lot of people run FC2 (or 1) on Vista/Seven with no problem
-
US only, of course. Russian airplanes is manual all along
-
Yeah, SEAD is a bit lacking player-wise in FC2. As for mods, I think I'll try to clarify a few things: Regarding FMs Sure, every plane in FC2 has it's own Flight Model. That doesn't mean each plane will feel and act like the real thing, or even come close. Remember, this FMs are intended for use by the AI, not by players. For exemple, try any of the huge transport/bomber/tanker, you will see that (as an exemple) they are fitted with über-flaps. That makes them flyable, but hardly spot-on realistic. Still, better than previously of course  By the way, limiting available input with saturation in Axis Commands is a sweet way of simulating big 'n heavies a bit better ;) Regarding adding stuff At the moment, it seems that we can't add a new airplane from scratch, or to be more precise, we can't add a brand new slot for an airplane. However, it is possible to clone one, with same FM, 3D model, but different characteristics, payload... Not sure what exactly you can have different, but hardly the miracle solution. New cockpits can be added, even since FC1 (though no public final mod has used this feature yet). Gauges placed anywhere you want, 3D cockpit model the way you like, everything except HUD and MFD. As far as I know (though I only know from hearsay - there was a thread not long ago over here which went into some details about that, and it was firts-hand experience), this issue hasn't been sorted out. So, short answer is : new cockpits, yes, but no HUD or MFD (and a lot of work doing the cockpit !)

Just turn on your radar a split-second to have the IFF. That's the only way besides visual ID.

I don't think much has changed. The main difference is that there is less bugs in multiplayer that makes it easier to do it ;)

Difference in power in guns?
Robin_Hood replied to kingneptune117's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
From what I can see, IG they do differ, especially in rate of fire (4500 for the GAU-8 vs 1500 for the GSH-30-1). Muzzle velocity, mass, explosive mass or AP capabilities, and a handful of other things is different too. If you are data-inclined, try checking aircraft_gun_mounts.lua and shell_table.lua (in Config\Weapons) -
Integrity check is great for public servers, but can be annoying for private servers between people who know each other. I would sure follow this project closely, sounds interesting. If we could have an official word from the maker(s) :)
-
I would like to know that, too

Something is probably wrong with your Server.lua. If you have installed other mods that replace this file, then you won't have the cockpit positions right. Try reinstalling the efA MoD (or just this particular file from the mod) and tell me if that makes it work ;) (be sure to check that server.lua is highlited in green in Modman)

Thank you very much

If you took the time to get the pylons right on the MiG-23, would you care to share the correct values ? Would save others the pain of doing it (lots of trial and error) ;) (I'm currently having fun trying to make FC2 feel like Vietnam :) )

Maneuverability R-27ER / R-77
Robin_Hood replied to asparagin's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Nr_max is max Gs. Not sure how these datas are computed thereafter, though. (Encyclopedia does give 30 and 18 G limit for 77 and 27ER, respectively) -
Did you try adding them as entirely new airplane slots, or replace existing ones ? Because by replacing, it should work (and certainely will with official versinos). I know people are working to see if it's possible to add completely new slots (with new CLSID) (and I think Tigrou is one of them, by the way), but I don't knowif they found something interesting ;)

There is a problem with your Config\View\Server.lua, which sets the cockpit positions of all planes (CockpitLocalPoint or something like that). Try reinstalling just this very file from the efA MoD. If that doesn't work, try downloading the mod again. Note: if you install any mod that changes the same file (server.lua, like I think Simmid's A-10), you will get that same problem. The solution to this issue is to manually make the modifications required, so that the mods are compatible.

 - What is phase 3 ? - Errr... phase 4, profit ! On a serious note, I use tooltips to "see" the batteries and lighting. It's a bit tedious, however

Isn't the F-15 cockpit used for F-14 by default ? Anyway, to change cockpit attribution (example with the 25T on Harrier) - go to Scripts\Aircrafts\_Common - open CustomHuman.lua (not with Notepad, try Notepad++ or Wordpad) - look for the line CustomHumanData[PlaneType.AV_8B ] = CWSType.iCWS_A_10 - change A_10 to Su_25t and voilà, it's done ;)

1. This is just a small oversight. You can reactivate the Air to ground mode this way: a) go to Config\Input\Aircrafts\f-4e phantom ii\keyboard\ b) open default.lua with a text editor other than notepad c) scroll down to section "Modes", and delete the two dashes ("--") in front of the air-to-ground mode d) delete any other file than default in the "keyboard" folder e) done ! You now have a working air-to-ground mode ;) 3. The exact name of the pod (or any non-ambiguous description) would allow testers to investigate
-
Surely you mean MiG-29G ? Anyway, I didn't notice any obvious problem or crash whatever the cockpit used. But I still think the F-15 fits it better (but, with limitations - for some who want to really use as many capabilities as possible, I agree MiG-29G is a wise choice)

Patch 1.2.1 for "LockOn: Flaming Cliffs 2"
Robin_Hood replied to Ulrich's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
DVD version will certainely include this patch (since I remember they waited the patch release to launch DVD production). As for training videos, I'm not sure -
Good news ! Let's hope it was relly just a corrupted file

Basic Flight Training: ILS to other than home base?
Robin_Hood replied to Oneway's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Better yet. DCS ;) As far as your questions, it is indeed important for us to know which airplane do you fly. A small hint, though. Russian planes can select any airfield they like (by cycling), while US planes, if I'm not mistaken, cannot, at all. As far as wind is concerned, active runway should be dependent on the wind, but only one runway will have ILS
